Ocean views in beautifully decorated, spacious 3bd

Welcome to Papakea J402, a multi-level, 3-bedroom, 2-bathroom condo that has split AC in the living room and oceanfront views from your private lanai. This condo can accommodate up to 6 guests. The master bedroom, located on the first floor, features a California king-size bed. The ensuite bathroom offers a walk-in shower and vanity storage space. The second bedroom is equipped with a queen-size bed and a flat-screen TV. A short walk down the hall leads you to the guest bathroom, complete with a walk-in shower. Head upstairs to the loft-style third bedroom which boasts a queen bed and two twin beds. The fully equipped kitchen has updated appliances for a better experience. Travel with ease due to the in-unit washer/dryer.

*** Notice of Property Plumbing Project:
- Papakea Resort is performing a property-wide extensive plumbing project and you may hear some noise during this time. Work in this unit will begin November 5th, 2025, with an estimated completion projected on or around December 11th, 2025.
- Standard work hours for this project will be from 8:00 AM to 5:30 PM, Monday through Friday unless authorized for weekend work.
- Contractors will be present on the property to begin quieter preparatory tasks as early as 7:00 AM.
- To minimize possible disruption, louder tasks will not start before 10:00 AM.
- Dates are subject to change. Not all units will be affected at the same time.
- We have been notified that the project is pending completion around June 2026. We have decreased rates during these dates to compensate for any inconvenience. ***

- Construction will tentatively start November 2025 and expected to continue for approximately eight months.
- Work will begin on the ocean-facing side.
- The concrete will generate noise interruption and work hours are tentatively scheduled for weekdays and during standard working hours.

Papakea Resort offers lush tropical landscaping, koi lagoon ponds, oceanfront saltwater pools, hot tubs, shuffleboards, golf greens, pickleball, and tennis courts! It is located just North of the famous Ka'anapali Beach. Walk to nearby local shops, cafes, restaurants, and grocery stores. It is a quick drive to Whalers Village and many of Maui's top beaches like Kaanapali, Napili Bay, and Kapalua Bay. Parking is free for one vehicle; additional vehicles are $5/day. This fee is collected by the Resort's Front Desk staff upon arrival.

Great property, great location, Nice for family of 5

The property was very clean and well cared for in a great location. The grounds were immaculate with two nice pools and a hot tub. Beach access is limited as the ocean is right against the seawall. But you can walk a short distance to the beach on the adjoining property or take a short drive to Kaanapali Beach for some amazing snorkeling. The owner supplied six beach chairs which we used on all of our beach trips.The only negative about the property is there is only one AC unit in the main living area and the bedrooms can get warm. There are fans in each room to help cool things down, but some additional AC units would help.Overall, a extremely well cared for property in a great location suitable for a family of five.

A perfect family place

What a wonderful Hawaii experience. We loved our condo! We sat on the balcony and watched beautiful sunsets. At night we heard frogs and enjoyed the warm breeze. The pool was a favorite for my Grandson, so was chasing frogs. The beds were comfy, the kitchen had all the necessities. The BBQ was convenient and we loved eating by the pool. The location was close to great beaches and snorkeling. We will be back!

Get place for a getaway!

This is a beautiful property with tons of amenities! The property was very clean and there was so much to do - putting courses, tennis, shuffleboard, multiple pools and hot tubs. The view from the balcony is unbeatable. The condo is very nice, clean and definitely big enough for large family or multiple couples to stay comfortably. I had to contact the property manager when we arrived because the Wi-Fi wasn’t working and they got someone out there to fix it. We had a great time and would definitely recommend a stay here!

Great ocean front property!

Overall this well appointed condo made the perfect spot for a family vacation! A minor hiccup was it was advertised as 3 bedroom with 2.5 bathrooms but the 3 rd bedroom is a large upstairs loft with 3 great beds but there was no 1/2 bathroom upstairs which would have been handy! I mentioned it to the manager but was emailed that the condo was advertised with only 2 bathrooms… so while not an issue worth more concern of mine… the steep stairs to loft with no bathroom could be a challenge for younger children

Overall the grounds and location are wonderful!! Very Picturesque . Amazing sunsets right on the sea wall but a very short walk to beaches where there is a nice sandy break and even a few shady spots and snorkeling safe waves while we were here for kids to play in. The unit itself was fairly well appointed in the kitchen the beds comfortable . The host states the a/c unit is new and updated. This seems unlikely as the remote seemed older and batteries were corroded . The unit barely worked and then stopped working nearly entirely. A repair person was sent out as my wedding was the next day after the unit stopped working and flowers were to be delivered. The repair person could not fix the unit then it was the weekend so we were told no one could come back until Monday. No one arrived on Monday and we left with the unit barely working. Also, if you plan to use the washer and dryer the dryer really doesn’t work. We put a few wet towels in and had to run over three times so mostly set wet clothes out on the Lani. There was a binder with some info that literally disintegrated when we opened it so it might be nice to re-do the binder with info for local restaurants and wi-fi info and such . We asked to stay an hour past check in time as my wife contracted covid and was very sick. We were denied (which I get because there can be a fast turnover) but they said they had to now do an extra deep clean because of covid . My thought is you should be cleaning with extra precautions each time ! We wiped down most all surfaces with disinfecting wipes , swept, And left things very tidy so I can’t imagine cleaning the place could possibly have taken more than 2hours🤷🏻‍♀️. The staff of Papakea were very friendly and helpful . They keep the grounds emasculate! It is Convienient to walk to food carts , ABC store , snorkel , surf and fishing gear as well as a host of delicious restaurants . We had our wedding reception at the cabana and I couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful setting ! Kids could play in the pool while adults congregated in the cabana .

Woning gehuurd voor 6 personen. Er waren echter maar 4 stoelen voor de eettafel en maar 5 borden. De stoelen waren gelijk aan de foto werd aangegeven ( dat klopt, maar onze ervaring is dat er vaak 4 stoelen gefotografeerd worden maar er wel voldoende aanwezig is voor het aantal gasten). Borden zouden worden aangevuld, dit is niet gedaan. Verder was de woning karig ingericht qua keukeninventaris. Bij eerdere woningen waren we bv kruiden aanwezig en allerlei apparatuur, dat was hier niet het geval. Verder was onderhoud hard nodig. Verf was van plafond gebladderd en overal lagen dozen in kasten en onder de bedden. Ik had er meer van verwacht en minste woning die we tot nu toe hebben gehuuurd hebben op Hawai’i

Memories for a lifetime

We came with my 2 kids, 7&9 and my in-laws. The unit had plenty of space for us all. The kids slept in the loft. The condo itself had everything we needed. Anytime we were here we were sitting on the deck watching for whales. It also overlooked the common area below so the kids could explore while still in view. We also spent plenty of time in the pool, on the putting green or playing shuffleboard. The location was also great. Easy trips to get down to Kaanapali or up to Napili for beaches. Yes, we saw ants, but only when we left food or crumbs out. When we kept things clean, we didn’t see them.

Wonderful resort, but one thing bugged us...

Papakea is an amazing resort and this was our second stay here (first in this unit). The unit was clean and as advertised. Spacious with amazing ocean views from the lanai and from the main bedroom. Kids got their own rooms (one in the loft and one in the second bedroom) but easily could have shared the loft space. The resort itself has everything you need to lounge around the pool, take part in activities like yoga or mini-golf, or lay around and watch the ocean. And, just a short walk to a nice sandy beach, or short drive to Kaanapali beach. This unit, while clean, had some bug problems. First, we were greeted by a cockroach inside the front door on arrival, and again in the kids' bathroom later in our stay. This could have something to do with housekeeping leaving the door open while they clean the unit in between guest stays. More persistent were the tiny ants that crawled all over the kitchen counter. Don't leave out any food! We stored most in the fridge or microwave to avoid the wrath of the ants.

This place was as advertised including the photos. The lanai looked straight out to the sea and we could watch whales from there. The complex is beautifully landscaped and well cared for. Everything you need is within walking distance (beaches, stores, restaurants, equipment rentals).

Great location poorly maintained and operated

While the spot near the beaches and pools was great, I wouldn’t choose to stay here again. I never received information about checkin and when we did arrive at 4pm the place wasn’t cleaned and ready until 7pm. Floors were slippery since no bath mats were provided and basic upkeep was lacking - the dishwasher tipped out of its hold every time we opened it.

Great Overall Property

Our unit was pretty decent, but ants were a problem since we arrived. The dryer also has to run through several cycles to dry the clothes and the dishwasher wasn’t secured and didn’t clean dishes super well. That being said I’ve been to Papakea many times and it’s always a great time. The grounds are always well maintained, friendly staff and close to great beaches, shopping and dining.

Papakea Resort

The resort is older but very well maintained and very close to Kaanapali beach area. This resort did not have a beach area, which I was disappointed in, but had a very nice pool/hot tub area with a lanai. We had a beautiful view of the ocean from our balcony. The condo was very nice and was a perfect set up for us. There did seem to be an ant problem in the kitchen, we couldn't leave anything on the counter. These were very tiny ants, you could barely see them until they got into whatever was lying on the counter. We had to put everything in the fridge. We also had a problem with one of the toilets, and had to call the rental company. At first they said since it was Sunday, there was no one to help. But then they did send someone who fixed the problem temporarily. The toilet seemed to have it's own mind, and would flush when it wanted to. Other than that, the resort is convenient, and very well maintained. We had a very nice time there.

Decent but incredibly uncomfortable temperatures

Good location, great views, but pretty outdated unit. Our entire stay was spent trying to find ways to cool off. The unit only has one very small VERY old split system AC and it is impossible to get the place at a decent temp, we found it insane that a 3 bedroom 2 bath only had one teeny tiny AC that has probably never been replaced. Thank god we came in November and the weather was nice otherwise we would have been completely miserable. I would not recommend this place to any of our friends and family UNLESS the air conditioning was upgraded.

Beautiful but no AC

The place is beautiful but I wish the air worked. The back room has no air conditioning at all, only a fan to blow hot air at you. There is the smallest ac I have ever seen in the living room. That's supposed to give air to the whole place somehow and it barely blows any air. I don't think it ever got below 80. Too hot for my family. My only other suggestion is to please put some beach towels in the unit. Other then that it was a nice location and you can see the ocean while you have coffee. Gorgeous view. The price was right if you can deal with the heat. If you need ac then you may want to pass.

4 pm is a very late checkin time

Beautiful view from balcony. Beautiful grounds. I've been to Papakea several times, and I love it. However, the stern tone of the rules/policy for this rental were not welcoming for these 2 seniors and our adult children. The very late check in time (4 PM) wastes much of the first day, and then we had to queue to check in. Peeling paint. Inadequate A/C. I would NOT stay there in a hot month. My experience from booking to checkin/checkout left me feeling less than fully informed.
