We had a 2 night stay for my daughter’s college graduation which we booked well in advance to avoid the price gauge for the busy weekend. The property called the day before our reservation to confirm we would still be there. I assumed they were overbooked. I reserved a suite so the 5 of us in my immediate family could stay together. We arrived separately and since I would be the last to arrive I called ahead to put my husband’s name on the reservation. No problem. He gets there and checks in to be told “we don’t have hot water but it should be fixed tomorrow.” While inconvenient, not a big deal. Graduation day came & went and when we arrived back at the hotel after dinner to change and continue celebrating, we were told by a fellow occupant that there still wasn’t hot water. There was several occasions where someone could have told us about the hot water issue before we arrived and after the first 24 hours when nothing was fixed. We were only told after check-in and once it was too late to find other accommodations. There was also no offer to help us find other accommodations or reimburse even partial payment for the inconvenience. Since I booked through Expedia, I contacted them for a remedy to which they negotiated an 18% refund. I did accept the refund, but looking back, I wish I had stood my ground for additional compensation.
