The one-bedroom, 1. 5-bath home sleeps four and has a full kitchen without a dishwasher, a patio, grill, and washer and dryer for slower days between adventures. Plan an easy dinner at ʻŌhelo Cafe or The Rim, both about 10 minutes away, or make the 40-minute drive to Hilo and Punaluʻu’s black-sand coast. The home uses rainwater catchment, which is not recommended for drinking, so please bring drinking water and use water thoughtfully. A lovely fit for a small family, a couple, and anyone who wants the Big Island at its most green and volcanic.



The Space:

Inside, this 700-square-foot home feels made for cool Volcano evenings: a wood-burning stove, comfortable living area, and a full kitchen for simple meals after the park. One bedroom, two beds, and 1. 5 baths sleep up to four. Step outside to a patio among ʻōhiʻa, ginger, and tree ferns, with a grill ready for dinner. There is no dishwasher, and the home’s rainwater catchment is not for drinking.



Guest Access:

This Volcano home offers a private entrance and a patio or balcony overlooking a garden view, along with a BBQ grill for outdoor cooking. An indoor fireplace and heating keep things cozy in this rural setting, and pets are welcome. It is a comfortable, self contained retreat near Hawaii Volcanoes National Park.



The Neighborhood:

Volcano Village is the Big Island’s rainforest side, where cool air, tree ferns, and quiet roads replace the usual beach-town pace. Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park is about 10 minutes away for Kīlauea Iki Crater, lava tubes, steam vents, and overlooks. Plan to drive, since this is a rural area, but you can reach ʻŌhelo Cafe and The Rim in about 10 minutes. Hilo and the black sand at Punaluʻu make rewarding day trips. It is a distinctive base for families who want trails, geology, and a true change of scenery.



Getting Around:

Hilo International Airport is about 45 minutes away, an easy drive through lush upcountry forest. A rental car is a must for exploring Hawaii Volcanoes National Park and reaching Hilo's beaches, shopping, and restaurants. Volcano village itself is small and walkable for a few local shops and cafes. Parking is generally simple, available on site or along quiet residential streets.
