We loved our stay at the Mountain Vista Estate! Our family had so much room to spread out and enjoy one another’s company. There were plenty of beds and bathrooms for our large group. The host was easy to communicate with and answered any questions we had. The location was perfect, even if the weather wasn’t! We would definitely stay here again if we come back to the area!

Roomy house

Overall we enjoyed our stay. The kitchen was lacking in casserole dishes, complete measuring utensils and could use more coffee cups. Found out the night before check in that the upstairs washer and dryer didn’t work. Very dim lighting to downstairs washer dryer. Deck furniture would be nice also.

Good place to stay overall

Overall, the location was good, the home was large and in decent condition, and we had a good time. The price was low for the size, which was great, but my wife and I set expectations low as a result and that was probably the right move.Be aware if you have high standards, some of the finish and condition is not great. One of the clothes dryers seemed to be broken and the other was in a utility room that didn't seem to have working lights. Some blinds were clearly broken. Someone used indoor flooring on the front porch which had curled enough it was bordering on a tripping hazard. We only found one used bar of soap for showering, though there was more than enough shampoo and conditioner. The listing says "Onsite parking options include a garage", and while there was a garage, we had no access to it. I would be reluctant to bring a young child there since the stair railings were clearly not up to code (a child could easily go through the openings) and their solution was to tie a baby gate across the length of the railing on the top floor. It's possible that makes it meet code, but I think the uncovered section when on the stairs remains a significant hazard for a young child. All this said, the property worked out great for our family under the circumstances. I'm just going through this list so if someone reads it and things "that doesn't sound like the place for me" that is probably the case. If you are easygoing, it is probably just fine.

Family ski-cation

Was the perfect option for a large family needing sleeping privacy and large spaces to come together. Easy access to Snowbasin and other ski resorts. Quiet and beautiful setting.

Group ski trip

Overall house met all the standards and was well kept but it was obvious the owners have not been in a while and that some corners were cut to make it a vacation home for a large group. Location and neighborhood were amazing. Main issues were: no body wash in manyBathrooms, the listing stated 2 full kitchens and there was one kitchen with most of the cooking supplies on their last leg, horrible cookware, etc. Fire place was broken but we fixed it. Host was great to work with and overall had a good experience, just had a few snags along the way.

Liars and cheats

Took our security deposit without a proper justification. Don't review often but here u go:1) the dishwasher worked fine when we left 2) you have provide no proof it was actually broken. If it was physical damage send me a picture. If it's electrical how do u know it just wasn't old? Or faulty? 3) many stuff in the house was broken / bad:4) grill was disgusting and didn't get hot 5) front top door does not lock6) fan in upstairs bathroom literally dropped out of the ceiling and almost landed on someone's head 7) temperature differential btw rooms was 10 degrees! 8) gas fireplace not hooked up

The inside of the home was excellent. Well cleaned, great space for group entertainment as well as enough bedrooms for a larger group. I think in person this home looks much better inside than the photos portray. Great luxury master bedroom, the blinds need to be replaced since they are all bent, dusty and don't keep the sunlight out in the morning. The outside however, is falling apart. The paint and wood is starting to rot, there are weeds everywhere, there are hornets nests in the can lights so waiting outside on the front deck to get the code to get inside the home was precarious as there were hornets flying all around. We didn't spend time outside so it wasn't a big deal, but had we stayed for longer and spent more time in and around the home this would have been a huge complaint. Should definitely be taken care of though. You can tell the exterior is not being maintained. When you are driving up to the home it actually looks stunning, but as you get closer you can quickly tell that it is not being taken care of. But again, the inside worked great for our stay and so am overall very happy with the home. I would note that there is no garage access. The driveway was plenty for vehicles, but still would be nice to have that heads up.

Item’s that need improving

Exterior of home needs work. Hot tub is a mess Apparently it hasn’t worked for a quite a long time. The number of bathroom towels, hand towels and wash clothes very limited. Barely had enough bath towels to go around, same for wash clothes. Kitchen towels the same, need to restock in this area also. Didn’t have dish rags or a new sponge to use. Would have been nice to have dishwasher soap for at less one wash. The keyless door stopped working, we were unable to lock the house upon leaving. These are very minor problems that can easily be fixed. All in all the family enjoyed our stay.

So much potential but falls short

Overall we enjoyed our stay at the property. It was very spacious so everyone had access to their own space but we could also gather and enjoy being together. It is also in a nice area which was away from the busy city but convenient to things to do. However, there were several things that needed attention. Several areas hadn't been cleaned well and other places needed maintenance such as there being several missing slats in the blinds in the master bedroom. And I wouldn't recommend bringing small children because the railing from the main floor to the basement has large openings and children could fall through easily. If maintenance items would be addressed this would be a very nice property.

Fantastic stay!!

The house is beautiful! It is very spacious and has a great layout. It is about 15 min to Snowbasin. Grocery store is about 10 min away. It was an easy 40 min drive from SLC airport. The kitchen was very well stocked which was very nice. We all had a great time and would definitely stay here again.

Winter Vacation

The house was very nice! Plenty of room for everyone. Close to Snowbasin! Nice and clean! There were a few minor issues. Not enough clean towels or extra blankets. 2 out of 3 coffee makers were not working. The main fridge’s water/ice maker wasn’t working. Not bad problems and didn’t ruin our trip, but would have been nice if these things weren’t an issue. Overall our stay was great! We enjoyed the backyard area for sledding and snow fun! Loved the Christmas tree that was still up in the house!

Beautiful location!

Everything was so great....and I would have given five stars had I known to provide our own towels and dish towels. The only other thing was unfolded sheets and blankets that were left in many of the closets.... not knowing if they were clean or dirty. That being said.... the place was very clean and very comfortable. We loved the atmosphere and would stay there again.

Awesome location

Deer and turkeys in the backyard, how can you beat that? Awesome for the kids. Had a couple of issues on check-in but the hosts were on top of it. Would certainly do it again!!!

Weekend away

The management company had issues with the cleaning crew that was out of their control but when we reached out - they were responsive and did everything in their power to fix the issue. It all turned out to be fine and the house and property for our large family fit our needs perfectly. It’s a great neighborhood and location. Thanks for helping us have great family time in style.

Short and sweet

Beautiful home easily able to accommodate a large group of people. Large gathering place made it easy to eat and talk the night away. Property manager communicated well and made sure we had everything we needed. Kitchen table and chairs were too wobbly to actually sit on. Beds in the bunk room felt like they were about to collapse. And the listing doesn't show a hot tub! We wish that would have been advertised. This didn't detract too much and we had a lovely stay.

Disappointed with property

I went by a month before to see what the house looked like and it looked like it hadn’t been cared for in a long time. There were 6inch weeds in all the driveway cracks and dead bushes and waist high weeds in all the beds. There was a broken mangled screen on the front porch and a large sheet of plywood against the railing on the deck. There was chipped paint everywhere outside. The inside looked a bit better but we never had hot water or ice. When I approached the owner a month before they said they would clean it up. We drove by a week before and it still looked the same. When I contacted them the owner asked me what I was going to do about the mess. He said he could find no one to clean it up. I called a few places and went to the house to show them what to do. He did use one of them and it was a bit better outside as far as weeds but there was still the broken screen on the ground and chipped paint everywhere and we moved the plywood off the deck. I feel like it’s a lot of money to pay for something that is so rundown. I suggested to the owner that he needs a property manager to make sure the place is ready. I also suggested that we get a partial refund because of the hot water situation but I’ve heard nothing back. I am scared to rent another place this way.
