Bloomin Pickets Farmhouse Stay OR Ladies Craft Retreat!
Welcome to a step back in time! We are inviting you to enjoy the farm that I grew up on. It is over 100 years old. We have incorporated A LOT of history from our renovation, which tells the story of the family farm and the way things used to be. Some say it's like a museum. For me, it's a tribute to all of the hard work of my family and we hope you will enjoy that too!
WE ARE NOW OFFERING the house as a CRAFTING RETREAT for up to 6 ladies! Most craft projects can be accommodated. There are six, 5' tables per person. Each has their own outlets, cutting mats, silicone protective mats, LED desk lights and waste baskets. Extras include an ironing board, iron and glue guns. Tables are rated at 260lbs. Rolling chairs -300lbs.
The crafting area is in a newly renovated porch addition, with natural lighting from 8 windows and views out onto the gardens! There are a couple steps to access this room; it is not handicap accessible.
Please look at the pictures provided of the crafting area. No dying of fibers can be accommodated. Please have your group lead contact me with the ages in group and the type of craft, before booking. Thank you.
All rooms have been updated back to its historical beginnings, from it's hardwood floors and some original decor, but we've added modern amenities. There are 5 bedrooms. Four have full-size beds upstairs; the lower level has a queen. There are plenty of bed linens and extra pillows.
We have 2 full baths. The bath upstairs has the original cast iron tub, with shower. The lower level bath, has a walk in shower. Plenty of towels provided. Hair dryers and toiletries are available if needed.
Everything that you need to cook with is in the kitchen! Our updated kitchen boasts a cast iron sink, butcher block counter tops, coffee bar area and real barn board decor. The island is a converted dresser, which holds some of my mom’s favorite cookbooks, if you’d like to try a new recipe. There are plenty of eating spaces - one off of the kitchen and a formal dining room.
We also have a patio area to enjoy, with a gas grill and recently added a boulder fire pit on our old barnyard to enjoy, weather permitting.
There is a living room with a TV. We have a video library of VHS and DVD's if you'd like to enjoy a movie. There isn’t Dish network or cable, but there are over 20 local channels. In the front porch, I have some of my board games from when I was a kid. That’s from over 50 years ago!
We do have high speed internet, to keep you connected and a landline phone, if you’d like to make a call using a phone book!
If you see in our pictures, that we have a quilt on our barn. We are one of 150 quilts located across our county. We have a brochure with a map, if you'd like to take a tour, to see all of these beautiful quilts! Ours is called "Rainbow Blossom".
At Christmas time, the months of Dec and Jan, every room is decorated. Because of safety issues, we just can't allow small children. I normally child proof the home, but I can't remove all the decor that I have. If you have any questions, please ask. Thank you.
If you would like to learn about the history of our farm, please let us know. We would love to tell you how the farm operated years ago. I have had nothing but great memories while growing up here. It is our wish that you will leave our farm with great memories of your own!
Other things about the farm: (this is during the growing season) With over 3 acres of lawn and gardens, we might have to do some watering, lawn care while you are staying with us. Please know that we will be mindful of your privacy. We are always working on the flower beds, so not all are totally manicured, but a lot to see none the less!
Even though we are located on a country road, we do have some cars and farm machinery going by during the day, during the growing season. Typically by evening, things are pretty quiet. See the pictures for location from roadway.

Great place to stay. The host was very helpful and accommodating. The house and property are kept up extremely nice. A lot of neat history all around. I look forward to staying again.
The accommodations were lovingly presented and we were made very welcome. Good views, peace and quiet and lots of history to enjoy. We will come again!
The farmhouse was beautifully decorated with fall/halloween decor. The historic family pictures were a pleasure to check out. Susan was a excellent host and downtown Monroe had great restaurants and bars.
Super relaxing place in the country to get away! Monroe is a really cute town and it's also very close to New Glarus. It made a great base for our family's outing to beautiful Wisconsin. Susan and her family have a really wonderful place and have put tons of effort into their families farmhouse.
A beautiful, quiet, country home with all the comforts of home. We had a great time and thoroughly enjoyed the lovely gardens and the well-appointed home. It was nice for all five of us to have our own bedrooms and we had everything we needed to simply enjoy our visit! Highly recommend!
The host takes incredible pride and care of this property and it shows. The home was very clean. Looks like something out of a Hallmark movie. Highly recommend- we had an excellent stay.

Fun farm house
We opted for a VRBO instead of a hotel for a family reunion and we are so glad we did. It was so nice to have our own space and a bedroom for everyone. The house was charming and decorated very on point for a farm house. All the flowers in the yard are beautiful. The host really did think through all the possible needs of people staying there. Having s'mores supplies on hand is genius. Overall it was a great space.
We love this farmhouse and surroundings, our second stay - and we will be back. The hosts are warm and welcoming and have put so much care and love into the house. They even went "the extra mile" ; ) when we needed help with our vehicle. Thank you a million for a wonderful stay!!
We were five writers meeting up for a few days of intensive writing. Susan is a great host, her home is wonderful, and we all made great advancements in our next books! We’ll definitely come back.
We were looking for a quiet, relaxing weekend getaway and found it here. We explored Monroe and New Glarus and had relaxing mornings and breakfast in our place. Very clean accommodations. Clear that the owner takes pride in the property and grounds. Very accomodating and helpful. We had a good mix of fun and relaxing outside at the farm. Wouldn't hesitate to visit again.
pride in the whole property and grounds.
We come every summer and have a great stay. The house is very thoughtfully laid out and prepared. The house is immaculately clean and prepared for guests. The farm and the setting is beautiful. The garden is fantastic. My kids have a fun time relaxing and playing in the yard. We have loved getting to know Susan and Tom. The farm is near Monroe which has great restaurants and shops and parks.
This is a gorgeous property and wonderful house. The house is fully renovated/restored and impeccably clean. Each room is thoughtful and intuitive for guests. The garden, farming landcape, and scenery are incomparable. The hosts are so thoughtful and hospitable. We've been 2 years in a row and already booked for next year. My kids think this is their second home and cried when we left.
Check in was great. Susan met us at the house and gave us an extensive tour. The kitchen is very well set up. There is plenty of room to prepare meals. This house has so much history. Susan has done a great job documenting what is in each room. She went above and beyond to toddler proof the house to accommodate a 2 year old. The property is beautiful. The girls had a great time rolling down the hill and exploring the yard and all of it’s treasures.Communication with Susan was easy. She was quick to respond to texts. My family would definitely stay again. We highly recommend it.
Quiet, quaint, very well kept and clean.
There is a sense of calm, peacefulness and “home” about the place that is very therapeutic.
Tons of history and fascinating stories about farm life 70 years ago.
Owner, Susan, is very pleasant, kind, generous and great with communication. She works very hard to keep everything nice and clean and comfortable. Thank you, Susan!
The flower gardens are beautiful!
My husband enjoyed the tour of the old dairy barn too!
Growing up in the area, wow the farm brought back so many memories! Susan was there to welcome us & give the full tour & tell some farm stories. So much history & photos to take in. Family treasures I can’t believe we’re even on display!
Susan checked on us regularly & made sure we had everything we needed. Stayed & told stories as long as we were asking questions. Even had a deer come out while we were having a campfire!
I could go on but will just say enjoyed it so much & thank you!
