Landsteder i Mistley

Mistley Towers These porticoed Classical towers are all that survive from the church of St Mary the Virgin, originally built in 1735 and re-modelled in an unconventional style by Robert Adam in 1776. The nave between the two towers was demolished in 1870 when a new church was built nearby. The Towers come under the overall supervision of English Heritage, but are managed by the local Residents' Association, from whom a key is available.

North of the city was Constable country… nice walks and interesting info on the artists. South we enjoyed Tiptree museum, and the Salt marshes for walking and photography. «A lovely cottage in a beautiful setting. Christina was a a welcoming and brilliant host and it’s clear that a lot of care and attention has gone into the cottage which has everything you’d need but more than that has some great touches to make it extra special. The village is quiet and peaceful with lovely walks and pubs nearby and is situated in an ideal place for visiting lots of sights and experiences of Suffolk. All-in-all, we couldn’t recommend Potts Cottage enough. We’ll certainly be back! ...

«The cottage was comfortable and well equipped. We were met by the owner, Mark, on arrival, who was very welcoming. He provided lots of local information, including walks and pubs marked on an OS map. The bedrooms were spacious and comfortable. There are several properties here, but all wirh separate entrances and outside seatinf areas so they feel private. It was a great base for a few days in the Suffolk countryside. »

«When it says “ Sea View” it means it . Clear view of the bay all the way to the Port of Felixstowe. Very close ( 100 metres) to the beach but on a quiet campus away from the noisy seaside “ attractions “. It is the old Sanitorium to the now closed Felixstowe College. As such the doors and corridors are wide and the rooms spacious. Each room has a door onto the private patio. The rest of the campus seems to be posh flats . We weren’t disturbed at all and the natives seemed friendly. Dad is 92 ...

«Nice place to stay for our short break with outside seating area at the rear which was welcome as it was very hot weather and it was far too hot in the house with no air conditioning or fan provided. We had taken a fan with us ourselves which we needed on both floors if the house. Lots of wasps/insects entering the house due to the weather. Can accommodate babies and pets too. Well equipped apart from no hairdryer. House looked a different colour (darker) from the website, so difficult to find. »

«Very nice quaint cottage everything you need for a comfortable stay. Bed very comfy. The only downside for me was the very steep narrow stairs but were manageable. The owner was very nice and helpful lovely breakfast basket left in the kitchen with bacon eggs tomatoes bread butter and milk. A fire made in the grate just needed lighting. I had a very pleasant stay would definitely stay there again.»

"Bra rom, meget bra beliggenhet"

"Bodde 4 netter på Mermaid i forbindelse med påsketur til Ipswich. Ankom byen med tog og gikk fra stasjonen opp til hotellet, ca. 20 min å gå. Veldig koselig hotell! Innsjekk i resepsjonen i puben, men rommene er i eget bygg 50 meter bortenfor. Utmerket pub, bar og lounge med godt utvalg i mat og drikke. Veldig trivelig familie-spisested med mulighet for å se sport på storskjermer. Rommet (dobbeltrom) var stort og helt greit med bad med badekar! Det var noe trafikkstøy fra veien rett utenfor, men ikke plagsomt. Stille og rolig, hørte nesten ikke en lyd fra andre på hotellet. Godt utvalg til froksot og den klassiske engelske frokosten var utmerket! Buss nr. 15 stopper rett bortenfor hotellet og tar deg til sentrum på et blunk. Det er heller ikke mer enn ca 20 min å gå inn til sentrum. Flere kjøpesentre like ved og en stor Gym er nærmeste nabo. Alt i alt et meget hyggelig opphold! "
