Beautiful Cabin
This is a gorgeous cabin which is very private. It has all of the necessary kitchen and bathroom stuff. The kitchen is nice and large. We really enjoyed our raft trip on the Pine River and none of us got wet!

Great Getaway
We had such a great stay at the North Country Cabin! The secluded location was so relaxing, and the numerous hiking trails were so much fun. The house itself was very nice and fairly clean. The kitchen is large and has pretty much all necessary amenities. The listing is accurate in saying you will need a FWD vehicle to get to the cabin. It rained during our stay and even in our truck it was a little sketchy getting out. The cell service is also non-existent, but the wifi worked just fine (besides during the storm). The only thing was that the wifi password was written down incorrectly in the house. Thankfully Kiefer was quick to get back to us with the correct wifi password. If I could make a suggestion- it would be nice if there was some kind of written packet of sorts that listed out details of the house (like the wifi password, etc) and also the cleaning responsibilities required before checkout (with the storm knocking the wifi out we wernt able to access the VRBO message detailing the checkout requirements until only 25 minutes beforehand). All in all, it was an amazing stay and we can’t wait to come back again in the future!

Cute little cabin
Super relaxing & a great place to have your pup. Beautiful scenery all around with no disturbances. Stocked with dishes & everything you would need to cook meals. Highly recommend this cabin if you’re looking for a place to unwind in the middle of no where.

Worst weekend
The property was advertised as being nice. However the property owner canceled our booking just 3 hours before check in. Said that he double booked it and basically sorry about your luck.

Hello Toby, VRBO canceled your stay the day of arrival due to the fact that their software allowed for a double booking. Since the other individual booked beforehand, VRBO granted them the booking. I apologized for the inconvenience and did try to contact you regarding the situation. I understand how unfortunate the situation was, however the issue was on VRBO's end.

Beautiful and Comfy Cabin in the woods
Our family of 5 adults, 2 large dogs and 2 cats had a fantastic time using Kiefer's house as our home base. The beds are comfortable, the bathroom is adequate (although the shower is tiny), and the kitchen is huge and well equipped with all the pots/pans, griddle, coffee makers etc you could possibly need. The location is very remote and it is important to follow Kiefer's written directions because most GPS apps will not find his house. Note that his directions assume you're coming from the town of Irons, so if you're coming from the west, you'll need to look carefully for the road signs. We spent 3 days kayaking (one on Tippy Dam Pond and 2 on the Pine River), had lots of lovely hikes on the North Country Trail leaving right from the house, spend a day in Manistee on the Beach and a day in Ludington, and a morning picking blueberries. There is no need to bring outdoor chairs as there are plenty around the fire ring.

4th of July Getaway!
We have crazy schedules and were able to book the North Country Cabin in relatively short notice. It is as advertised and more! Communication with the host was quick. The kitchen had everything we needed! Including a Ninja blender! The cabin is secluded and was very quiet at night. We had our dog and was a perfect place to let him run around and explore. The road was a trip! Our van handled it just fine. If you book in the winter, i would advise a 4x4 vehicle. Great place and would stay again!

Great family get away
Perfect spot to unplug for a long weekend. My family and I had a great time at the cabin playing in the woods and hiking along the North Country Trail. The cabin kitchen was well stocked and there was an assortment of games to play as well. We could see the neighbors house from the cabin which was unexpected, but nobody was around the weekend we visited so it was blissfully quiet! The kids and dog would crash out on the floor in front of the fire exhausted each night.

Awesome cabin

A+ Stay
My husband and I stayed in this cabin for our honeymoon in November and had an absolute blast. There was an accident during check-in, but we were absolutely thrilled with the way host cleared things up and accommodated us. The cabin was clean, cozy, and ready for our stay - twinkly lights on outside and all. The property connects to the North Country Trail, which was perfect for little morning and night hiking trips. Even our dog loved it - we will be back!!

Our stay was wonderful. Very relaxing. Kiefer is great to work with. Very quiet secluded location. Be warned, we had no cell phone call service even though there is Wi-Fi available. We did have internet connection.

Cozy cabin
The North Country Cabin was cozy and comfortable. Beds were ok although the bunk bed mattresses need to be replaced. It had all needed amenities and a stocked kitchen for cooking. It’s located in the middle of the forest and very secluded. It’s a great place to get away from civilization, be with nature, and unwind. The forest is beautiful! The air is fresh and it is extremely peaceful! Keifer was quick to respond to questions and concerns. We had no cell service at the cabin or anywhere near it. We weren’t able to get the wifi password until the next morning so we were unable to let our family know we arrived safely until the next day. We also received our checkout instructions in an email 2 hours after we left for home. It would be extremely helpful to have a welcome letter that provided the wifi password as well any instructions for the cabin. We got to the cabin after dark -which I do not recommend! It is a rural area and some of the roads are not the best. Avoid Hoague Rd! It was pretty terrible! I want to stress that you should plan to arrive in daylight hours! The drive to the cabin (especially the last stretch of road to the cabin) is charming during the daylight hours but very creepy in the dark. Overall, it was a nice stay.

Hello Dana, the Wi-Fi password is located in VRBO and on check in instructions through the app. The check out instructions are located on the app, and are sent out at 8 AM exactly, they are automated. I do appreciate that you overall enjoyed your stay but it is mentioned in every message that there is no cell service and to plan accordingly. The house receives its charm for being so secluded.

Great place, great experience
Considering how remote it is, it was great quality, extremely well maintained, and had all of the amenities, even Internet access (if you are so inclined). We did a lot of trail riding and this was a great home base. We will stay here again in the future, hopefully soon.

Quick get away
I’ve stayed in a lot of VRBO’s and this by far was the cleanest and most well though out. Everything was perfect. They had a welcome package with snacks and drinks, basket in the bathroom with essentials, maps to local trails, etc. Perfect location to get away from it all. Host was also amazing and assisted with an oops on my part. We will be back!!!!!

Post Christmas Retreat
My wife and I fully enjoyed our stay at the North Country Cabin. The property is very isolated and quite. Our 2 German Shorthairs loved being in the woods and the close proximity to the North Country Trail made for some nice afternoon hikes. We found the cabin clean and comfy and with everything you would expect in the kitchen to cook complete meals. Trips to Manistee and Ludington were not too bad, especially with the scenic drives through the Manistee Forest. This was definitely a location we will return to in the future.

Wonderful remote getaway
Thank you for a wonderful stay. The cabin is the perfect size and very well appointed. You have everything needed in the kitchen to make meals. The location is also great since we like to be in a remote location, and having the North Country Scenic trail easily accessible is a real bonus. The covered porch, deck with grill, and the firepit provide great outside spaces. We would love to visit again.

Clean, Cozy, Quiet Cabin in the Woods
Kiefer’s North Country Cabin is such a gem. A beautiful property tucked away from the hustle and bustle, the property was super clean upon our arrival, and even included a nice welcome basket. The cabin provided everything we needed, all we needed to bring was some firewood and food to cook. The firepit arrangement was really neat, and we enjoyed fires and s’mores both nights of our stay. The beds were comfortable, and my daughter loved the bunk beds. The property guide provided by Kiefer was super helpful, and we had some really great hikes on the trails that are located on the property. Such a bonus to have had internet access. We have made it a yearly tradition renting an up north cabin, this being our 5th cabin, and it was such a nice experience. I would definitely stay here again. Thank you Kiefer!

I loved the stay and will be back again. A couple of tips for packing: bring a fan if you will be there during hot days and try to drive a vehicle with some ground clearance. If you want to escape deep in the woods you've got to deal with the terrain a little, it's nothing crazy but could be tough for lower vehicles.

Very welcoming and we felt right at home. Nice little touches to make us feel welcome. Clean and comfy. Definitely heed the hosts' directions to the property, and print them beforehand. We followed his guide and had no issues. Internet was great, we were streaming music, movies, and games and had no issues. Property connects right to the trail system and we had some nice hikes. Beautiful property. No neighbors, backs up to forest with tons of riding trails. Side yard had an awesome deck with a fire pit and BBQ grill, great area for entertaining. The only down fall was, we had to leave.
