We walked in the door and found another family already in our listing. Can you imagine their shock, as we had to code and walked right in. Well, at first I thought, this is going to be fine, VRBO and this property manager will work to help us resolve this, maybe we will even get a nicer place. Well after 2 hours just in the driveway with two kids and on the street as the sun set and our hopes were dashed waiting on hold! Multiple times we asked/begged the property manager to call us and give us direction on next steps, to no avail. This property manager had the nerve to text us they were 'so mad at VRBO'. Excuse me? We are in a tiny town we have never been to, in the middle of nowhere, standing in a driveway, and you are mad, but what are we supposed to do? IT WAS INSANITY. And then talking to VRBO was even worse, if that is possible...because they take down their listings in the evening for that same day...so we ended up in a motel for the night!! And VRBO would not help us find a listing that would consider having us come early, we had to rent a nother place, non-refundable, and hope they would let us in early. Which, thankfully they did...so their mercy saved the weekend, but not this property manager, who in the face of our siutation did not help at all. I think they tried, but had their hands tied by the parent company, but they could have called to just give ANY clarity, we were on hold for 3 hours that evening. What a nice way to start a short weekend away.
