Spacious cabin 7 min from Lutsen Mountain ski hill & cross country ski trails

The Lodge on Caribou Lake is a spacious 3 bedroom, 2 bath log cabin that can sleep up to 10 people. Enjoy the open kitchen, dining room, and living room, boasting large wooden beams that give it a lodge feel. Take advantage of the fully equipped kitchen and large dining room table as well as a roomy island with 4 stools. For the cooler months, enjoy the warmth of the wood fireplace.

The cabin has plenty of options for outdoor eating/seating with 3 decks---two that offer a table and umbrella and another deck with two adirondack chairs.

This beautiful cabin is located on a large lot, on a beautiful and clean 720 acre inland lake, where you can enjoy swimming, fishing, canoe/kayaking, and gorgeous sunsets. The public boat landing is less than 5 minutes from the cabin. Don't forget your fishing poles---the lake has walleye, smallmouth bass, northern pike, bluegill, black crappie and many more. Use our canoe and single and tandem kayaks to explore the serene and beautiful Caribou Lake.

If you are looking for a place to party, be loud, and jet ski, this is not the place for you.

LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION!!! If you love the outdoors, you've come to the right place! During the winter months, you can enjoy the best downhill skiing in the Midwest at Lutsen Mountain with an 8-passenger gondola and 4 mountains. They enjoy an average of 10 feet of snow annually. The area is also a prime location for snowmobiling, cross country skiing, and snowshoeing, with groomed ski trails within a mile of the cabin. For cross-country skiers, check out the Norpine Trail Association system.

The beautiful views of the majestic Lake Superior are a short 5-minute drive. If you want to experience some north shore culture, Grand Marais, MN, which is known for its art, food, and gorgeous views, is only 25 minutes from the cabin. Do you want to get some exercise during your trip to the north shore? It's easy to do with the 310-mile Superior Hiking Trail and numerous state parks in the area, offering the best hiking in the midwest, with numerous picturesque waterfalls. If biking is your thing, ride along Lake Superior on the Gitchi Gami trail, or enjoy mountain biking on several trails, including Lutsen Mountain and Jackpot Trail. Finally, don't miss an opportunity to play a round of golf at the beautiful, 27-hole Superior National Golf Course, which has signature holes alongside the Poplar River.

If you are heading to the north shore to relax, you can stay indoors and enjoy the crackling fire, as well as the puzzles, books, and board games provided for our guests' enjoyment.

Although we love animals, we do not allow pets.

Note: We rent a cottage on the property to someone who splits their time between the Twin Cities and Lutsen. The cottage is approximately 500 feet from the cabin.

Note: 4WD/AWD is highly recommended once the snow starts falling.

We have been traveling to Lutsen for 20 years and this is the best place we have ever stayed. It was perfect! Everything we needed for cooking, cleaning, and relaxing was provided. We used the boats and caught and cooked walleye each day. It was a slice of heaven and we can’t wait to return. We had 8 in our group from 3 generations, ages 17-81, and everyone was happy!

Beautiful house in a beautiful location! The bay the house sits on was absolutely beautiful with its backdrop of fall colors. Highly recommend the white cliff trail across from the boat landing. It’s steep, but well worth the climb—you can see for miles.

A comfy and cozy “up north” experience on a peaceful lake. Enjoyed water activities including fishing off the dock and using kayaks and canoes. Included all the amenities we needed. Would stay again if vacationing in the area.

Our family enjoyed staying at this roomy, very functional cabin. Kitchen was well stocked; we appreciated the grill. Beds were very comfortable. We could've used a bit more lighting in the main living area and a router extender in the main bedroom so we could be on conference calls at the same time; we were all working remotely off and on. The North Shore is stunning!

Loved that it was family friendly and safe for our toddler to be able to roam the living space. Kitchen was well stocked for cooking. Beds were comfy with plenty of pillows and blankets. Was great! We used the kayaks a lot! Store was close by. Close to a lot of things to do.

Caribou Retreat

Great property on a clean lake. Multiple seating areas outside. The kids loved playing in the lake and we all enjoyed some kayaking. Great location from Grand Marais and all the main hiking spots. Highly recommend!

Lovely spot with incredible views and great night sky viewing

Great log cabin on a beautiful lake.

The layout, up north decorating, comfy bed, fire ring, and use of kayaks combined to made our time at the cabin feel like home. The lake view from the dock is beautiful. The location is convenient to explore surrounding state parks and Grand Marais. I highly recommend it!

Best Lake Vacation

For the past 3 years, I have taken my young adult son and nephew fishing in Minnesota. Each and every year, the cabin and lake selected got better with no disrespect to each earlier cabin owner. This year was the absolute best. Beginning with Theresa and her beautiful cabin that the pictures do not give it justice. Breathtaking, spacious, and quiet. The fishing was insane. There was not a single day we didn’t catch fish. I believe we found our annual fishing destination for good. Theresa was prompt with her replies through the entire process.

Family hiking trip

Second time we stayed here. The location is ideal for access to excellent hiking trails. We had a rain day this year but all the games, movie dvds in the cabin as well as sometime in Grand Marais shopping easily made up for the rain. The layout gives our two families their own space. We absolutely love having a fire down by the lake watching the sunset.

Yearly friends vacation

We planned to snowboard and hike but this years weather didn't cooperate. We didn't snowboard due to lack of good snow conditions so we just hung out and explored the area. The cabin was perfect and fit all of our needs! Thanks for a great experience!

Great spot! Perfect for a larger group.

Clean, well stocked kitchen and baths, and super comfortable beds/pillows. Could’ve used more living room seating, but otherwise was a perfect place to relax after a day of skiing. We will likely return next year!

Peaceful & beautiful!

We had a great stay with our family over the MEA school break! We've been visiting the North Shore over 20 years & have always stayed somewhere new. This has been one of my favorite rentals so far. It was more spacious than we anticipated & we loved the living area with 2 tables & well stocked kitchen. Bunk beds for the kids, cute play area & toys for my 3 year old & also boats/canoe, games & puzzles for our teenagers. We thought we would miss the sounds of the shore, but found the lake so relaxing & beautiful! A great place for a family to stay. I hope we make it back again someday.

Family trip

Another Wonderful Week on Caribou Lake

This was our second stay at this property. The whole family loves the set-up. Plenty of space to spread out, well-appointed kitchen, wonderful water front for kids. Caribou Lake is a special place and this cabin helped make for a great family vacation.

Another wonderful stay on Caribou Lake!

This was our 2nd stay at this property, 1st time in the summer (previous was during winter ski season). It was even more beautiful with the flowers blooming and the lake accessible. We enjoyed having fires outside, sitting on the deck to eat and converse and using the lake (when it was warm enough!) There were kayaks and a canoe to use which was so nice that we didn't have to bring our own. So close to hiking trails and other fun things to do. The home itself is just immaculate and we enjoyed the fully stocked kitchen to cook and the beautiful space including games and books on the shelves, as well as the toys for the kids. Thanks for another great stay and we hope to stay again!

Another Great Stay

I have rented this beautiful cabin 3 times. It is a wonderful spot for our family. We loved the inside and out! Close to Grand Marais if you are inclined to visit, yet plenty to do on Caribou Lake. We loved the fishing, camp fire and the spacious deck (s). Thank you!
