Modern farmhouse with three cozy fireplaces in Luray, VA on a working ranch with sunrise and sunset views—a family escape or remote worker paradise. Minutes from town, hiking, and our private river retreat and sister farm. Enjoy campfires surrounded by rolling hills, classic red barn, and mountain views. Cook local produce in our chef’s kitchen, then gather around the 8’ farm table and picture window as you watch our cattle and horses graze. Farm eggs and firewood available.
Welcome to Big Oak Ranch! Hosts have 800+ 5-star reviews! Beautifully restored historic countryside manor house nestled on a 30-acre farmstead. Sunrise and sunset views over the mountains are almost as stunning as the large kitchen picture window that allows you to observe the horses and cattle while gathering for meals at the 10-person farm table. Spoil yourself by preparing fresh, local produce in our chef’s kitchen. Cozy up next to one of THREE fireplaces, enjoy a good book in one of the many reading nooks, or grab a partner or friends for some spirited games. Let your little ones splash around in the creek and enjoy campfires around the Solo stove. If you must, get some work done and knock out those video calls using our fast internet. Preorder some of our fresh chicken and duck eggs and campfire wood for your visit and we will leave it waiting for you.
We have renovated our 200+ year-old barn and corn crib for weddings and events for up to 150 people. When we do not have events, we open up the farmhouse for a family friendly getaway. Big Oak is just a few minutes to the Luray Caverns, Shenandoah National Park, Luray Golf Course, and George Washington National Forest and a 40-minute drive to Massanutten or Bryce Resorts for skiing and snow tubing.
Big Oak guests will also have private river access at our sister property just ten minutes away. Enjoy our kayaks, canoes, paddle board, life vests, and tubes year-round (free of charge!) as well as great fishing and swimming! We are on the South Fork of the Shenandoah River, and our spot of the river is typically slow moving and lake-like (weather and rainfall accumulation dependent, however). We have a dock, nature trail, ducks, chickens, pigs, honeybees, cats and dogs meandering the property...the kids will love it! Be sure to pack some old towels and water shoes or old tennis shoes/crocs.
Big Oak Manor is perfect for groups of 8-10. 4 BR, 2BA, lots of space! As bonus, the living room converts into a private bedroom.
Guests may meander around the manor house, trail, and non-fenced in areas. Buildings, barn, and fenced in areas are off-limits to guests.
