The house was fairly clean when we got there. We had 2 adults and 6 kids staying and could find only about 5-6 bath towels we could use. Over the course of our stay, we rotated those 5-6 towels and just washed them daily so that we had enough for each shower. However, after we left, we were notified that the owner filed an insurance claim on us for theft of bath towels. We texted her immediately to let her know that we washed, dried, and folded the towels prior to our departure and put them in the master cabinet where we found them. She claimed the housekeeper had looked everywhere and was ultimately unable to account for the missing bath towels. After trying every which way to work it out with her, including paying her for towels we did not steal, she did not remove the claim. I’m sure this will negatively impact us in future when we try to rent another home. It was just towels, but it was obvious that the towels were not there when we got there. So the they either just wanted us to buy them some towels or did not manage their home well enough to know they were already gone when we get there.
