Les Peupliers, som er bygget i en tradisjonell Vendeene-stil, ligger i den uberørte grenda La Baffardiere, som er en del av et beskyttet område med enestående naturskjønnhet, i River Yon naturreservat. Eiendommen ligger i en stille bane uten gjennomgangstrafikk, hvorfra det er mange turer og sykkelturer gjennom skogkledde baner og stier ned til elven Yon. Den vakre landsbyen Le Champs St Pere ligger bare en kort kjøretur eller sykkeltur unna, hvor du finner et supermarked med bensinstasjon, apotek, bakeri, bar og restaurant og et marked på landsbytorget på torsdag morgen. 20 minutter nord for Le Champs St. Pere ligger den blomstrende universitetsbyen La Roche Sur Yon, og like i sør er den historiske katedralbyen Lucon. Den vakre byen La Rochelle og den eksklusive Ile de Re ligger under 1 time unna.

Possibly the best equipped holiday home we have ever stayed in.The home is immaculate, well thought out and beautifully decorated we absolutely loved everything about it.We had some lovely days out in the area and enjoyed our daily swim in the warm pool and .the sunset on the front lawn was glorious

All that we could have wished for. A lovely home in sparkling condition in a great location. Lots to do locally with special beaches a 20-30 minute drive away but we spent most of our time relaxing by the super pool housed outside the kitchen door. Perfect!

A fabulous place to stay

The property has all modern facilities and is beautiful inside and out. Everything one could possibly need was provided, including basics in the kitchen cupboards like teabags, cooking oil etc. There was also a thoughtful welcome pack of basic foods- butter, milk, jam etc. The pool is lovely. The beds are comfy, the bathrooms immaculate. Probably the best gite we have ever stayed in.

Lovely to be back again

This was our 4th stay and it didn't disappoint. We last stayed here 10 years ago, can't believe its been that long but it was so nice to be back. The addition of the electric pool cover was a bonus. The villa is equipped with everything you could want and would definitely recommend it to anyone who wants to be in the Vendee area.

Fabulous!!!

We are regular visitors to France every summer for the last 30 years and this property is one of the best we have ever stayed in. Clean, well equipped ( especially the kitchen!) and loads to do around the area. Super comfy beds coupled with being very quiet resulted in excellent rest after fun days out exploring an amazing area. Can’t recommend highly enough!

Les Peupliers

Fantastic place to stay and a beautiful Gite in a very quiet location. Ideal for the beaches, and other spots to visit in the area. Outstanding facilities and a lovely pool. Perfect Property

Les Peupliers is perfect. After 25 years of staying in excellent places all over France, this is the best. The pool is amazing, everything in Les Peupliers is well maintained and excellent quality. As well as relaxing by the pool we enjoyed days out in nearby costal resorts and inland towns. We had a fantastic 4 weeks. Thank you Natalie for looking after the place so well & to Julie for the ease of booking, great communication & a fantastic welcome pack.

Summer family holiday

Excellent family holiday at this beautiful villa. Lovely area to stay with easy access to some great seaside side towns and stunning beaches. Villa was immaculately presented for our arrival with a great pool area and warm water :) Would thoroughly recommend this villa and the best we have stayed in over the last 10 years. Lovely stay in a quiet rural location

Really enjoyed our stay at this immaculately clean property with great facilities and in an ideal location. Communication in advance our our stay was perfect with some good local recommendations as well as the usual complexities of the French recycling rules. The pool was lovely and being heated was a real bonus on a couple of days where the weather was less than perfect. In terms of the accommodations it was spacious with a good sized kitchen that was well equipped for English tastes (proper sized mugs for a morning cup of tea) and plenty of glasses and cups to avoid constant washing up. Washing machine and a washing line was also helpful to avoid taking too many clothes. The location is good being less than half an hour from the closest beach, close to roads that are quiet enough to cycle with the kids but not too far from the massive hypermarkets at La Roche sur Yon. Easy to find on Waze too when we first arrived. We would happily stay here again! (And sorry we didn’t get time to write in the guest book but we had the stress of a car breakdown on our last day!)

Une semaine de rêve aux Peupliers - A perfect week in Les Peupliers

Julia and Simon's perfect property is located in the lovely green Vendée countryside. Get in the car and in less than 5 minutes you will be in Le Champ St Père, a little village with a chemist, baker, hairdresser and a Carrefour Contact supermarket (a bit like a Tesco express). Drive about 10 minutes either east or west and you will find two little towns with more shops and people to talk to! Mareuil-sur-Lay has a great Intermarché supermarket, with a great Butcher section. We do recommand the Boulangerie in Mareuil too: easily the best croissants in the area (and that's a Frenchman telling you!). Les Peupliers is as described in the advert, if not better! Nothing is missing, and it is so nice to have everything you may need. I love to cook and all was there. The cooking hob is easy to use - so is the charcoal barbecue. All appliances are in perfect working condition. The swimming pool is clean and always at the right temperature. The property is completely secure, which was a massive plus for us as our son is autistic and we didn't have to worry about him wandering around. Beds are comfy, great bathrooms and both internal and external common areas are perfect for chilling. Communication with the owners, and their local representative Natalie, was incredibly easy before, during and after. On arrival day, we could not help but notice how clean and welcoming the house was. The "treat tray" waiting for us in the kitchen was the icing on the cake. Merci pour tout Les Peupliers!

Great Villa = wonderful holiday

Wonderful house with everything you need for what ever type of holiday you want - relaxing or fun filled. As soon as you walk in it feels like a home not just a house. We all loved the pool - in it every day :-) We've stayed in 6 or 7 properties in the Vendee over the years and can honestly say this was the best. Wonderful, relaxing and thoroughly recommend

We arrived without any problem and found the key, unpacked and were straight into the pool after a long drive. The house is very well equipped, very clean and nice comfy beds. I’m unfortunately not able to walk very far but my husband loves walking and assured me there were some lovely walks especially by the river. We stayed for three weeks and did experience a lot of rain and cloud. While this is by no means a criticism of the owners as they may not be aware but a lot of attractions were closed or only open on certain days. High season seems to be July and august. The bar/restaurant in the village was permanently closed and the bakery wasn’t open at any time we visited (mid morning or late afternoon). We found it quite difficult to find a good restaurant which was open but Natalie, the property manager advised us that she had found restaurants had closed down which she had not been aware of and said it’s quite common due to the economic climate. Don’t rely on “booking online” as we did this on three occasions and each time the restaurants were closed. A nice little eatery called L’Amarilis in Nesmy. Simple food but lovely staff and very reasonably priced. Another restaurant which was excellent was Le Fief des Saisons in Lucon. Looks nothing from the outside but superb food however you need to book in advance. There’s a business card by the phone in the house. The Monkey Space in La Roche sur yon.We had an amazing three weeks and would highly recommend this home.

Quiet relaxation in a perfect environment

We arrived at Les Peupliers after a very hot night in a hotel nearby at La Roche Sur Yon, and immediately on entering the property it was evident that the property was perfectly prepared and clean. The gîte has all of the facilities that you need to make your stay a home from home, and the welcome hamper and attention to detail throughout the property make it perfect. We spent the first few days enjoying the quiet relaxation of the area with a walk in the woods and plenty of pool time, but on a slightly cloudier day we ventured out to the coast and had a day out in Les Sables-d'Olonne. The rest of the week was split between pool time and the odd walk in the woods. The week was extremely relaxing with very little noise apart from the birds in the trees and the splash of water when someone was in the pool. A tranquil and lazy week to recharge the batteries in a beautiful and well equipped setting. Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful home with us, and hopefully we will be back to visit again soon!

Great pool and well appointed Gite

The Gite was perfect for our family- everything you could need, very clean and comfortable and the pool was fantastic. We happened to go during a heat wave so it was very hot all week 38 degrees for the last 3 days! The Gite is ideally situated to visit the many beautiful beaches about 20-30 minutes away. There is a supermarket about 5 mins away in the car. Whilst we visited the beaches for lunch, it was too hot for us to sit on the beach but we did make great use of the pool and the 3 children swam all afternoon. The furnishings were all modern, comfortable and everything very clean on arrival. We had a very relaxing first week of our holiday and would highly recommend.

Wonderful!

We had a wonderful stay at Les Peupliers. From the beginning, the owners communicated well and we were given the number of a local lady who managed the property who kept in touch as and when required. Everything was clean and tidy and the house was brilliantly equipped to cater for all of our needs. We enjoyed our time by the pool, relaxing on the sun loungers, swimming and playing. We also enjoyed the table tennis and used the BBQ most evenings. The local supermarket was well stocked and only a five minute drive away. We explored the local area and walks and also travelled further afield to the lovely beaches. We would highly recommend this property for a relaxing holiday.

Lovely House & pool

The house was lovely and met all our requirements. We spent most of our time at the property and made full use of the pool just steps from the back door- ideal as the weather was soo hot. The location was good and the supermarket at Le Champs Saint Pere had everything we needed. We would certainly consider staying here again.

We had a very nice holiday in the beautiful house. The welcome pack was great and so was the service. The property with the large garden and pool is very nice. It was very quiet and you could relax wonderfully. It is very well equipped. We'd love to come back.

Very nice house with heated swimming pool

Everything was kept nicely, we had everything we needed for our stay. The first night we stayed in a double bed in the master bedroom but it was too small. We asked to use the twin beds together as a king bed and it was arranged. We had a very nice time and the house is kept in good condition, all the linen, towels and kitchen appliances were available. There were also some nice welcome presents like wine, bread, butter, all very useful.
