Upon arrival at the Flamingo Hotel, my initial experience was far from satisfactory. The hotel had overbooked rooms, leading to a chaotic and frustrating start to my trip. Despite booking a room with a Strip view and a king bed, I was given a room with two queen beds overlooking a less than appealing alleyway. The room was in a state of disrepair, with broken outlet covers and a general lack of cleanliness.
To put it into perspective, I have stayed in a Clarion hotel room with visible stains on the pillow and found it less upsetting than this experience. The room was not worth a $50 price tag. When I voiced my concerns, the apology I received felt insincere and dismissive, reminiscent of Tony Hayward’s infamous apology on South Park.
However, the story took a turn for the better when a friend suggested I contact Expedia. The representative I spoke with was nothing short of a saint. She contacted the hotel on my behalf and managed to secure a new room for me by 2 pm the next day. This experience highlighted the value of having an agent on your side in such situations. I will certainly be booking through Expedia in the future and give them a well-deserved five-star rating for their exceptional customer service.
As for the Flamingo Hotel, while their customer service left much to be desired, I must give credit where it’s due. The hotel’s location is excellent, earning it a five-star rating in that regard. Overall, I would rate my experience at the Flamingo Hotel Half a star
