The room was what was to be expected and for the price it was nice. I have stayed in more expensive places that were less impressive. I will say that I paid in advance and was nice made aware of a policy that includes charging my card BEFORE I stay in the room and as if they are assuming I’m going to break all the motel rules. The women wasn’t the most polite and told me she’d be charging my card again (even though I already paid) and that I would be refunded at their discretion. Onenote she made was that I’d be charged if the room smelled like cigarette smoke. But when we walked in the room already had a slight cigarette smoke smell to it. So I was charged an extra $50 that I may never get back because they just chose to keep it.
What was even more off-putting as was her carelessness attitude about explaining this to someone who clearly had no idea about this policy. I can understand leaving something on file Incase I destroy the room. To charge someone ahead of time before they do something wrong is just an awful idea and when I explained this policy to others I know, they also said how strange it is, especially when the motel can, again, decide to hold my extra money ON TOP of what I paid, just because they want to.
I left a dirty diaper in the garbage in the room, are they keeping my $50 because I had to change my baby? Who knows! They didn’t explain it. For the $65, it’s a great place to stay, to pay $115 however, (especially if I’m not refunded) I would go elsewhere.
