Our home is nestled in the heart of northern Michigan, surrounded by serene beauty. You’ll find plenty of communal spaces for laughter, stories, and shared moments. The main house offers cozy nooks and spacious areas to gather, while the studio above the garage provides a private retreat for those seeking solitude or a private spot away from the main home. Whether you’re sipping coffee on the porch or unwinding by the fireplace, every corner of our home invites you to make memories.

Step outside, and you’ll discover a paradise waiting to be explored. The crystal-clear lake beckons for a refreshing swim, or kayaking. As evening falls, gather around the fire pit, share stories, and watch the stars twinkle above. Lace up your hiking boots and immerse yourself in the beauty of nature as the area boasts picturesque parks where you can picnic, birdwatch, or simply bask in the tranquility of Northern Michigan. World famous Leelanau County, Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lake Shore, Traverse City, Fishtown in Leland, Cherry Republic in Glen Arbor - they are all close for you exploring adventure.

If you find yourself wanting to exercise, we have that covered too. We have a treadmill, weights, yoga mats and bench with a cushioned floor.

The Home:

The main house Ground Level has one bedroom and a full bath with beautiful kitchen and living room views of the lake.

The lower Lake Level has a gas fireplace, a queen bed, shower, bathroom, washer/dryer, couch and chairs. It's a perfect space for relaxing with beautiful views of the lake.

On the 2nd floor Canopy Level, there is the main bedroom with a king bed and a balcony with magnificent high level lake views. There is a 2nd bedroom with a king bed and air conditioning. On that floor, is a bathroom with a large shower.

Above this all is the Sky Level. There are 2 twin beds and skylight windows which kids LOVE! It's like their own private hideout. It's best for children over 5.

The Loft above the garage is a large studio with a queen bed, 2 twins and a living room set with a pullout sofa. We have exercise equipment and a ping pong table for your enjoyment. There is also a large balcony with beautiful views of the lake.

Outside we have a beautiful area to sit and enjoy a fire, swim, or kayak. There is a small private sand beach for the kids to play and dig in.

This place is great! As a large family we were able to enjoy our week with plenty of room. That middle breezeway was amazing for anyone staying up later and keeps the sound down inside the house. Also the yard is amazing, with 3 toddlers the beach and water approach were great. The lake in general was calm and was a pleasure to kayak and paddleboard around, and the fishing was good too!

A Wonderful Week

Our family of 11 had an absolutely wonderful and relaxing week. We were all able to spread out and sleep comfortably, there is a nice little beach with many sand toys for kids, kayaks enjoyed by all, the "eating" porch was so great for our dinners with all of us and of course a week of beautiful weather made it perfect! Gary was fantastic to work with and bent over backwards to make everything perfect. He put up gates on the stairs, so we didn't have to worry about our 14-month-old grandson and provided a nice card table, and extra chairs go we could all eat comfortably together. Also, unlike other rentals we've done the kitchen was very well supplied as well as paper products throughout the house. In addition, they provided beach towels which we have never had at a VRBO rental in the past. All in all, a great week!

WOW!! What a fantastic vacation experience. We had a family reunion. The house provided plenty of space, was right on the lake, included all the water toys for the kids, very well stocked... Gary was such a great host, making sure we had everything we needed. Would absolutely stay there again. Please note that it does have air conditioning but only in a couple of rooms. Thankfully, we only had one humid day so we simply stayed in the water to keep cool. Excellent vacation!

Lake Ann Family Reunion

The hosts were very helpful and accommodating. The property is very clean, spacious and well-maintained home with lots of extras. Plenty of room for 12 people to find their own space or come together to socialize. The screened-in porch was perfect for dealing with some hot, humid weather. Kitchen had everything needed to prep, cook and clean. Bathrooms were clean and come with plenty of towels. Very much apppreciated the extra beach towels provided. Would only suggest that there be some more hooks added by the front door and in the bedrooms to allow more items to be hung. Otherwise, the house had everything a visitor could need.

Paradise on Lake Ann

This is the third time we have stayed at Gary and Stacy’s home away from home. My husband and I reside in Ohio, and our three adult children and 5 grandchildren live in other cities and states. A few years ago, I requested one committed week that we get all the families together. We started in the Smokey Mountains and had a wonderful time, and then we found our happy place at Lake Ann. The house is perfect for our family (we get the attached bedroom, bathroom and family room and sofa bed over the garage) and the rest choose their spacious, king size beds with plenty of room for cribs if needed. There is a loft for kids, and an extra room off the kitchen with a sofa bed. Sand toys and some life jackets are available. We had s’mores every night around the fire pit and were up early the next morning for fishing, swimming and hiking. I have highly recommended Lake Ann to friends, and family. I would give it 100 stars if allowed. I looked up my review from 2022 after writing this- I just repeated myself! 100 stars!

Perfection

My family and my sister's family stayed for a week in August. The house, the yard, the lake...all perfection! We could not have enjoyed a better week on the lake. The house was fully stocked. Having beach towels available was amazing, as we didn't have to travel with them. The yard was also fully stocked. Wonderful fire pit, with plenty of wood. Sand toys for the kids were also a hit. So many communal places, but plenty of quiet rooms and nooks to have some down time. Beautiful gardens with many butterflies! We were entertained by the bald eagles and the loons every day. The owner and host was a breeze and pleasure to work with. Thank you for a wonderful vacation!

Family time!

This house was wonderful for our family last week. Room for everyone with a beautiful yard-perfect for toddlers in bare feet. Lake Ann is a quiet lake. The sandy beach area was big enough for 4 toddlers to play in the sand with room to spare. The house was super clean. Lovely screen porch with big dining table.

Great Family Vacation

Second time we have stayed here. Both times were wonderful. House is very nice and clean. Big flat back yard right on Lake Ann, with dock and pontoon boat we rented from our host, Gary. Trips to Frankfort, cherry and blueberry picking and to the Pitspitters baseball game all made this a memorable vacation for 6 adults and 5 kids age 7-15. We rate it 10+

Best vacation

We have stayed at many VRBO's and this by far was the best one yet. We had such an amazing time and the place was exactly as described. The house was the perfect size for our large family of 14 and the teenagers loved the studio above the garage that was connected to the house. The pontoon boat was a plus and so glad we rented it from Gary. He was an amazing host and was there to greet us when we arrived to show us around. He even called back a free days later to see if we needed anything. We would highly recommend this beautiful property and all ready have to our family and friends.

Great layout with plenty of room. Glad the weather was not too hot with having no A/C. Great beach with nice sandy bottom. Renters had all the amenities needed with extra perks-coffee makers in every bedroom area. Only negatives were geese came into yard twice and did their business and the house next door had several dogs that barked a lot. Nothing too bad.

Relaxing lake house perfect for extended family

The owner could not of been more enjoyable to work with. They accommodated all of our requests plus extras! The house while not air conditioned had two bedrooms with AC and a great separate area over the garage that was also air conditioned which was needed during our hot week! The kitchen was well stocked for our needs and they provided coffee makers in each bedroom area! Our favorite area was the screened in eating/hang out area. Loved it! The owners also provided kayaks, a canoe, fishing gear, and a great sandy play area with lots of toys for children. The fire pit area for s’mores was wonderful for an end of the day activity. Highly recommend for a multiple generation family vacation. Lake Ann is close to Traverse City but more remote. Only con we could find all week was the swimming area. For little kids the lake was perfect sand, for us big kids there was deep muck after knee deep water around the dock. But seems like such a small problem with all of the positive things about this property.

A week to remember with family

Lake Ann is a lovely and peaceful lake with lots of natural beauty. Pleasantview Cottage met all of our expectations. We were a family of 11 comprised of three generations. The cottage itself had a screened porch where we shared many meals together and played very competitive card games. Most evenings we spent around a bonfire on the shore of the lake sometimes roasting hotdogs, brats, and making s’mores. Our days were filled with kayaking, canoeing, fishing, and visits to Lake Michigan beaches. The Hughey’s were great hosts checking in with us to make sure everything was going smoothly. You won’t be disappointed with this VRBO rental.

Beautiful house

Gary was a fantastic host. Very easy to communicate with. We had a great time while there. We had 5 grandkids aged 4 and under and they never wanted to leave. The beds were very comfortable and every amenity that you need is there. Highly recommend!

Wonderful property for a family

Lake Ann is a beautiful, quiet, picture-perfect lake, with nesting loons and bald eagles. The property is well stocked. The kitchen has all the pans and appliances that one needs; there are games and books for all ages; kayaks and a row boat and canoe are available for use. The owners can even provide baby gates, if needed. The property is well maintained. The owners are local and very available. They responded promptly to our questions and issues. They are also a delight to work with. We enjoyed our stay and hope to return. We highly recommend this property.

best vacation ever

The property was great. The house was very clean and comfortable. It was beautifully decorated. The flowers and landscaping were beautiful. With five boys between ages 6-13 the yard and dock were great and in constant use. We were able to rent a pontoon boat for a few days which was a great option. It is centrally located and only about 30 minutes from everything. Gary was an amazing host.

Family reunion

We could not have been more happy with our week on Lake Ann. The family especially enjoyed fishing from the dock, kayaking, canoeing, and evenings around the campfire. The grounds were so lovely with lots of greenery and flowers. Gary was an excellent host that encouraged communication and was always quick to respond to questions. We would highly recommend this house for an extended family.

“Amazing family vacation location! Water access and fun activities for all ages and within close driving distance to day excursions. Had a great time with 8 adults and 4 children (aged 6, 3, 2, 6 months). Boats, jackets and fishing poles were available. Gary and Stacey were extremely helpful, easily accessible and very warm hosts. Perfect Lake Ann Getaway House

Fantastic home for our family, 6 adults and 3 children to gather this summer. The crow’s nest was perfect for the 2 older children while the pull out on the main floor served the youngest child perfectly. The pull out was very comfortable as were all the beds. Everything was well stocked inside and out including activities to do. We had so much fun together and plenty of space when we needed alone time. Pictures are exactly what is at the house. Gary was a fabulous host and quickly responded to any questions we had! Thank you for a fabulous and relaxing vacation!

Great space for 8 adults and 4 kids. Very relaxing lake front property. Great stocked kitchen, great views of the lake, RELAXING!!

Extended Family vacation

The property was AMAZING! Just as described! We had a wonderful time! Gary & Stacy were easy to work with and responded quickly via text. They ordered a repair part for a kayak and delivered it asap. Perfect location for our family. Beautiful flowers, lots of nature! Keep in mind there are lots of steps - might be difficult for older folks. No A/C, which isn't usually an issue in Northern Michigan, but can be an issue for some folks.
