176-1 Great Surfer's Spot in Puamana!!

This three-bedroom oceanfront unit offers a great value for guests who prioritize location over amenities, especially as the area recovers from the Lahaina fire. The new owners are planning a much-needed remodel, which will take place once the island starts recovering from fire damage, thus, this unit is available at a reduced price. With its direct oceanfront views, you’ll be treated to breathtaking vistas of the Pacific, making it a perfect retreat for those who love the ocean.

The unit features two bedrooms with queen-size beds and one bedroom with two twin beds. The living room, located on the street side of the unit, houses the TV, while the family room opens up to the lanai and includes a queen-size sofa bed for additional sleeping space. After a day of paddle-boarding or building sandcastles on the beach, unwind in the comfort of your private indoor/outdoor accommodation. Grill dinner on the lanai while enjoying incredible sunsets between Lanai and Kaho'olawe islands, and take in the sights of surfers and whales in the distance.

Puamana, a 30-acre oceanfront, low-density gated community, sustained some damage from the fire. Unfortunately, the historic clubhouse and some amenities were lost to the fire. Despite this, Puamana still offers a truly unique island experience and the perfect place to unwind and relax. A complete renovation of the spectacular Ocean Pool was completed in October 2025, offering guests a one-of-a-kind setting right at the water’s edge with breathtaking views of the Pacific. The Dolphin Pool is also open and available for use. Although Lahaina town was severely impacted, the location still offers easy access to island exploration.

While this unit does not have central AC, portable AC units have been installed in the three bedrooms for your comfort. This property remains a serene retreat for those seeking the beauty and tranquility of Maui’s coastline during this time of recovery.

The rental was basic and could use some updating. When we got there some of the pictures that should have been hanging were off to the side. The shower handles may need to be updated. The pool by the beach was closed and we were not able to use it. They did have a smaller pool available. It worked for us since we were out doing things during the day. The view outside was excellent and had access to walk on the beach the grounds are maintained very well.

Great time

We had a great time. The place is big and was able to accomadate our family of 5. There was construction being done to the units next door but you could never hear them. It was clean and super close to the beach which is where we spent mist of our time.

Mouse House

The good first: Great location, furnishings were good, bed was comfy and very roomy. The bad: had to kill 7 mice. One reason for that is that there are holes throughout place where mice can get in and scurry away. One such feature was in bathroom closet which was missing part of the wall 18inch by 18 inch or so, that opened to the crawl space, thats just a mouse invitation. However, a plus is maintenance came quick and fixed it day 3 and the mouse flow decreased somewhat (4 mice killed in first 2 days). The condo should come with humane mouse traps (we had to get one at Ace on night one, then maintenance brought the sticky killing mouse traps as well). Its not fun with 5 girls with me and teenagers seeing mice squeek and squirm on the sticky mouse traps, so please provide human ones that either catch and release or kill on the spot. Kind of made for some sad moments. Also the front screen door didn't latch and was broken, you have to prop it open or it bangs all day and night. And the back porch light didn't work, would have been nice to play games outside at night. All in all this place could be great with just a few changes...

Wonderful location

Everything was great but there were a few small things. The spare bedroom with the twin beds had a gnat infestation one evening. There was bug repellent which we sprayed and cleared it up however we were not able to sleep in the room because the repellent smell. The other issue was the bbq did not work. Otherwise the place was perfect and the view was amazing.

We loved staying in 176-1 even though they mentioned that they would be updating the unit and I agree it needs some updating, we would definitely stay here again as our 1st choice. The gated community and proximity to the beach (10 ft from our private lanai) and Lahaina made this a 5 star place. It was a quite and extremely well maintained neighborhood and close to Lahaina where we spent a lot of time walking around enjoying the abundance of shops and restaurants. It's a great place if you have teenagers old enough to venture out on their own at times because they can actually walk and I always felt safe as there was always activity and people were so friendly. We are already planning another trip and will look to see the availibility of this unit first.

Family vacation

Clean, Comfortable and Awesome View!

I would definitely stay here again. The place was perfect for our family of 4 (two teenagers that needed separate rooms). The complex was quiet and family friendly. It was convenient to visit other locations on Maui, and the view from the lanai was excellent. We enjoyed many mornings and afternoons just relaxing on the back porch. The condo had all the amenities we needed. Hope to return soon!

Amazing location!

This property is right on the beach & a short walk to Lahaina. It’s a bit dated, but we didn’t care. It has everything you’d need for an awesome vacation. It did get warm without AC, but there’s 3 pools & an ocean to keep you cool. Would definitely stay here again!

Beautiful Location on Secure Property

This property offers a private and secure place in a beautiful location, for those with a group of up to 8 people who want some down time and the ability to cook your own meals. We needed a couple of issues addressed while here, and the property managers were responsive to address them in a timely manner. The beach is not a great one for beach activities, but many surfers were visible for the waves and both whales and turtles were seen from the comfortable view directly from the porch. Parking is tight, but that's fairly true of most places on the island. The workout facility on the property is hotel quality, but expensive beyond what is reasonable - there are cheaper options in town though (Anytime Fitness and a local gym called The Block, as well as a very good local pool that is free for lap swimming). It all depends on what your plans are while on Maui. These are some thoughts that I have after staying here. Great option if these things are what you are looking for.

Puamana is best place to stay in West Maui

We loved our stay at 176-1 in Puamana. The community is a quiet low density gated community. Sitting on the back patio watching the waves roll in and seeing the beautiful sunrise and sunset is heaven. The pool on the beach is beautiful. When you need more excitement, Lahaina is just right up the street. We loved the Condo, it had plenty of space for our family. We are really glad that it hasn't been remodeled yet, because then we wouldn't have been able to afford the nightly rate. You should book now while you have the chance!

Overall Pretty good location and property

The Location was pretty good and the property was awesome and spacious except that the house had lot of ants which was annoying and irritating as we were unable to cook anything due to ants problem.
