Newly updated, very cute 3/3 private home designen in típica Outlook suele living, a primate pool and a very good volcano view, with a 7 minute casual bikeride, or 3 by car, to all shopping. Naturalmente abounds this beautiful mature growth property. A short walk from the front door to a protected sloth hábitat, a short walk to several stream/ river.

The host was very communicative and even offered local suggestions for food/activities, which was appreciated. However, we booked a house rather than a hotel based on the ability to have a kitchen/make meals at home and sadly this was not possible. We entered at night to a house with all the windows open and bugs inside the house. Given that we were in the jungle, we anticipated some bugs, but the house had toms of mosquitos and moths (likely from windows being open) and a significant number of small ants crawling all over the kitchen counter. We spent time cleaning the house but the ants continued to appear each AM/PM and ended up on our fresh food we had picked up at the local market - causing us to trash our food. Big waste of money. That paired with a lack of cooking utensils made having a kitchen a moot point. The place is cute and if you can deal with the potential of having lots of bugs in the house then it may be work out for you. It just wasn't how I wanted to spend my money.

The place was perfect for our family of 6! The home was clean and comfortable! My husband & I slept in the cabana while our 4 kids (ages 16,14,11 & 10) took the house. None of our kids were concerned about us not being in the house while we all slept and we all felt very safe! The location is perfect! We were busy all day so our kids mostly swam at night (which it gets dark early so it wasn’t really late). The host was very quick & patient with answering our questions!

Our family of six had an amazing time in La Fortuna and the Magnolia house was absolutely wonderful as well! Our host, Leonela, was AMAZING!! I cannot say enough about how well she communicated everything and how gracious and helpful she was. Due to a late flight, we did not get in until close to 1 AM and she went out and got groceries for us and put them in the home so we would have something to eat and drink in the morning. She went above and beyond any of our expectations. The house was perfect for our needs. My adult son and his girlfriend loved the Cabina right off the pool as they had their own private bedroom and bathroom. My husband and myself and my adult daughter and her boyfriend had the main house. The beds were absolutely wonderful and comfortable and we had everything we needed. I cannot recommend this home enough. It was in a nice neighborhood and a short mile walk to the downtown area with a lot of restaurants and shops. We also used Uber occasionally which only cost us 4 or 5 US dollars to get to where we needed in the La Fortuna downtown area. We loved our stay!!

The main house was wonderful - safe, private, away from the noise of downtown, terrific views, comfortable beds, spacious bathrooms. Clean, good plumbing, hot water, good stovetop, refreshing pool, beautiful greenery. Our friends stayed in the main house and had a great experience. The host was helpful with directions, local activities, restaurant and supermarket recommendations. It is easier to find during the day; a bit more challenging at night but we did it with help from the host. The cabina, however, is not good. There is no hot water to the sink or shower. They have a showerhead hot water heater, but we could not get it to work. We had to shower in the main house. There is no door on the bathroom, so if you want any privacy, the other person has to leave the room (doable during the day; more problematic at night - and turning on the light will wake the other sleeping person). And unless the shades are drawn, people at the pool and even in the main house can see into the bathroom. Outside - the cushions on the recliners are moldy and the ones on the table are beyond worn. The pool is lovely!Bottom line is - if you only plan to use the main house, this is a great place. But if you have people in your group who are hoping to use the cabina as a living space - make sure you know what you're signing up for.

We arrived and checked in and were told 1. Washing machine out of service, 2. Cabina bathroom was tricky but worked. Once we inspected the home, we discovered that the cabana bathroom in fact did not work during our stay.Additionally, there were plumbing issues, which the owner did their best to fix, but were not resolved. This included construction workers at the home during our stay for multiple hours. We also noticed there were several bugs in the home, but that might be a result of the location (bugs included cockroaches). Hosts were nice and tried their best - with quick responses. Kitchen equipment (oven did not get hot enough) also needs to be improved significantly.

Great layout for up to 3 couples! Excellent location just a quick drive from downtown La Fortuna or from the Arenal Volcano. Property was in a safe and relatively quiet neighborhood with the only exception being a dog nearby that was often barking. Would definitely recommend to a family or a group of friends looking for a getaway in La Fortuna!

Very quaint and private house. Spent the mornings drinking coffee and looking at the beautiful volcano. Easy communication with host for anything we needed. We even broke one of the keys and she was so helpful with the issue we caused. Sorry again. Would definitely stay here again.

Nice House

House was as described. A bit open to the elements, but overall clean. Guests do not have access to the laundry room, which was a bummer for us. Host was available. We had a few issues, such as a power outage, which was expected with the large storms we received. However when I asked how long outages typically last I was told that Costa Rica was “a 3rd World Country” and I should expect such events.

Beautiful little place on the outskirts of town

The property was gorgeous and well maintained. Rooms were nice and the air-condition works well. The location is too far to walk to most places in town, but plenty of room to park a rental car. Or if you prefer, Uber is quick, easy, and cheap. We had no issues getting an Uber within a few minutes in town. We also hired the private chef that works with the owner for one night. Absolutely amazing experience! You cannot stay here without trying it! Charlie and Annette were very professional, polite, and provided a once-in-a-lifetime experience!

Live like a local

My family and I had a great stay at Magnalia House. The house and detached pool cabana were spotless, comfortable and well appointed. Highlight is definitely the soaking pool in backyard. The area around the pool was comfortable, and beautifully landscaped, giving a feeling of complete privacy even though you are in a neighborhood. Also, the awnings allow for plenty of sun but also allow you to enjoy outside even when it’s pouring rain. And the view of Arenal from the pool is stunning. A couple of practical realities, you are staying in an actual neighborhood in CR. There’s some realities you deal with: occasional road noise, the neighbor’s dogs barking late at night. Also, the process of getting in and out of the property is a bit involved and trying to negotiate after dark makes it more challenging. But the owners were responsive and went out of their way to fix any issues that came up. Also, you get to live like a local in a safe neighborhood and still be close to town. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Beautiful home in LaFortuna

We really enjoyed our stay at the Magnalia house. The home was very clean, comfortable, and full of light and the kitchen was well appointed for all of our cooking needs. Nela was very responsive and easy to work with and the location felt safe and was just a short drive from downtown La Fortuna. Our only complaint was that there were absolutely no drawers in any of the bedrooms - just a handful of hangers for clothes. If you're someone like me who hates to live out of suitcase, this is a bit annoying. There were some barking dogs at night in the neighborhood too which kept one of us awake, but most of us slept through it just fine.All in all a great place.
