City of Hauts-de-France, La Fère takes place in the department of Aisne, about twenty kilometers from Laon. Former seat of the Royal School of Artillery, it is located thirty kilometers from Saint-Quentin, not far from Frechancourt.

Considered as one of the oldest cities in the North / East region of France, La Fère already knew a human occupation during the Gallic era. According to historians, the ancient Fara dates from at least the fifth century Ad.
