Kauhale Makai #222 is an updated, spacious (800 sq ft), ocean view, 1 bedroom unit on the second floor with an ocean view. It is equipped with central A/C, full kitchen, 70 inch SmartTV with expanded channels, high-speed WIFI and a safe for guest use. The bedroom includes a queen bed and the living room provides a double sofa bed. The complex has on-site laundry facilities conveniently located just steps away from the unit doorway. The lanai can be accessed from both the bedroom or the living room glass sliding doors for convenient access. Kauhale Makai #222 is close to the pool, children's pool, hot tub, putting green, and BBQ grills. The lanai is a lovely place to enjoy a meal while enjoying the view. In the master bedroom, there is a foldable, rattan partition available for additional privacy. Kauhale Makai #222 sleeps 4.
Same day bookings and those arriving within 48 hours of making the reservation requires a phone call to Rentals Maui for confirmation.
Bookings made within 7 days of arrival will require an ID check and screening prior to confirmation.

Hawaiian for "Village By The Sea," the Kauhale Makai complex is an oceanfront property located in Kihei. This is one of a few buildings in the area with central air conditioning - not window units. This condo stays as cool as you like it. Kihei is perfect for families, romantic couples, or anyone wanting relaxation as well as quick and easy access to world class dining and entertainment. Kauhale Makai has a volleyball court and putting green on-site, and is a 5-minute walk to public tennis courts at Luana Kai Resort.
There is no smoking anywhere on the Kauhale Makai premises.

Property is located beachfront with other beaches nearby. Also near groceries and restaurants. The condo itself needs some updating. The blinds on the patio doors keep falling every tine you move them to open the sliding door. The a/c was very noisy with something rattling every time it turns on and off. The mattress needs to be replaced. There's a foam mattress topping and you just sink in- very uncomfortable. The sofa cushions are also very uncomfortable. The kitchen is well stocked. We enjoyed the view of the ocean and the mountain from the patio.

Everything as advertised. Unit is well stocked with needed utensils/ appliances. Nice large screen TV for watching sporting events . Greats shower water pressure with instant hot water. Surrounding Kihei area was flooded prior to our arrival due to storm/rain and condo parking lots were muddy/dusty for a few days until power washed by management. Hot tub/pool was a fun gathering spot for owners and guests. Vertical slat blinds in condo bedroom need some attention. Check-in instructions easy and thorough.Enjoyed our stay and would stay again.

Great location - walk to beach but not an ocean view. Fully equipped - everything was included. Vertical blinds in living room are aging and need to be replaced. Four of the slats ended on the floor due to wind.

The property and condo unit were ok. The living room furniture definitely needs to be cleaned. Instructions for the tv would have been helpful. The beach is very rocky. It’s not one you would want to take a walk on or even sit at. That was disappointing. Otherwise it was a pleasant stay. Lots of restaurants and shopping nearby.

Good overall

We have enjoyed our stay and communication with the management was great. The condo is nice, spacious and clean, located just a short drive from stores. It's a bit on the outskirts of town, so I'm glad we had a rental car. Both, the bedroom bed and pull out couch are squeaky and could use an upgrade. The beach wasn't very impressive at that area but again, with a rental we were able to explore nearby Wailea and Lahaina. Plenty of beach accessories in the condo.

8 night stay

Just got back from our 8 night stay. Overall I would recommend this property. I only have 2 negatives. 1) too close to Kihei Rd. In the morning, the road noise is loud enough to be annoying, especially when looking forward to a nice quiet morning on the deck. Not as noticeable in the afternoon because of the trade winds. 2) it’s very close to the trash chute. It seemed like every other day they would pick up. They pick up early morning, around 6:30am. Very noisy. Otherwise, we enjoyed our stay. Pool is nice and the BBQ’s have to be the cleanest BBQ’s I have ever seen. Cleaner than mine. Not the best beach, but nice for the sunsets and walks.

Spring break trip

Kitchen was well stocked, we ate all of our meals in and used the grills by the pool. Great for our family of 4. Kids are 9 and 11 and slept in the fold out couch. Great location!

Spacious and comfortable suite

We loved our stay, the space was large, clean, and had everything you needed and more for a comfortable stay. The suite had plenty of beach supplies (umbrella, chairs, and toys for kids) plenty of towels, and really everything you need for your stay. The property has a fantastic pool and hot tub, we loved going for morning walks on the beach and cooking on the communal barbecue for dinners. Would definitely stay here again.

Great place and great location

Although we didn't spend much time there because we were off seeing the sites most of the time this is a great rental. Although this was our first time to Maui we felt like this is the best liaison for having access to the entire island. Also locally there are plenty of this to do and see as well as easy without feeling over "touristy". We would definitely stay here again.

Great location

We usually stay in Lahaina so this was our first time staying in Kihei and I'm glad we were able to find this rental. It was just as it looks on the posting. The rental is conveniently located close to a lot of great food spots and a short drive to our favorite beaches (Keawakapu, Wailea, Polo, Maluaka and Ulua). I would say some areas/appliances could use some improvements/updates. In both the living room and bedroom, there were missing blinds and the stick to turn and move the blinds were broken. We reported it (to not be held liable) upon our arrival since we did a walk through of the rental. The vacuum & iron could use an update as well. Other than that, all the amenities listed on the posting were provided. We bought & left some pool noodles and beach toys for the next renter to use. We'd definitely stay here again!

Okay for the price

Every single day the building was power washed starting at 8AM and it continued well throughout the day. It was extremely loud. Also, almost all of the washers and dryers (1 available for the entire building) were “under repair” requiring us to go to a different building. If you’re staying longer than a week, bring some extra toilet paper or be prepared to go purchase some.
