I was a solo business traveller and stayed there one night on a trip from Calgary to my home in Maple Bay. I have stated this property before and I like the fact that it is easy to get off the TransCanada Highway and right into the hotel. Checking in was super easy even though I booked it with Expedia. My room however was exceptionally quiet, the quietest hotel room I have had in years. I could hear a pin drop. It truly was amazing. One of the best nights sleep I have had in a long time.
Great breakfast buffet. No other problems at all with the hotel. I certainly recommend it very much.
However - the recommendation to go next door to the "On the Rocks" pub... I do not know what to say. I opened the door to go in for dinner and was met with thundering noise from a sound system playing hard rock from the 1980s. Mixed in with that was all kinds of desire sounds from a variety of different gambling machines and things like that and then on top, there were 50 TV screens are so showing all kinds of gambling ads and different types of sports. The noise was absolutely dreadful and I am amazed that Worksafe BC would even allow that. In fact I will ask them to review this place, as I do not think it is safe for the employees to work in such an environment. The food there was dreadful. The service was fine but the waitresses I guess assume that everybody who comes there is a gambler and I took issue with that as a professor from UBC. I have never gambled in my life. What a disgusting place.
