True and total oceanfront condo with a lanai (balcony) that almost hangs over the beach. See the ponds below where the turtle and the eels want to come and feed. Let the sounds of the sea make you sleep after a day of sightseeing or relaxation. Both the bedroom and living room face the sea, where dolphins can be seen all year round and whales in season.

Hale Kona Kai is an intimate, absolute oceanfront complex of 39 one-bedroom condos. Located on the outskirts of Kona City, it is off the main road providing calm, ocean-view relaxation from every module. Located just south of Royal Kona Resort, excellent dining at Huggo's or Don Beachcomber's is a two-minute walk away and other restaurants are just a fun stroll away. The white sand of Honl's Beach is less than a quarter-mile south and the Kona Farmer's Market half a mile north.

The complex provides an elevator with convenient access for anyone. On the ocean side, you'll find a heated saltwater swimming pool and a grill on the south side of the complex. Each floor has coin-operated washers and dryers for your use. Each condo does not have its own washer/dryer.

Each unit provides designated parking, safe WIFI, & cable TV. Both units, like lanais, are non-smoking and Hale Kona Kai is non-smoking.

This was a great location to walk the downtown. Also being just south allowed us to move about when kona closed down for ironman needs. I will say the view is lovely but you do face slightly sw so no sunset from lani. But that just means heading to the pool the sunset. Not a back option. Would definitely stay at this property again

Location, location, location

The property is tired. The unit was tired but clean and tidy. I didn’t use the only on site bbq due to it being dirty and run down,BUT, you couldn’t find a more desired location. Beautiful ocean front. Walking distance to all the restaurants and shops. We walked everywhere except when exploring the islands sites and hikes,

Great condo and Casago is amazing!

There was an issue with the condo that we booked, AC didn't work, so we contacted Casago the day we arrived, and they almost immediately had us in another unit, that was even better, for the few days needed to get our unit up to par. They were quick to respond to questions and any problems we may have had as well. I can't say enough good things about Casago. The unit itself definitely needs a facelift; it's looking worn. It's a small condo, so the furniture was too big and there were too many pieces in the living area, making it feel very cramped with a lot of toe stubbing. Having carpet in the bedroom wasn't optimal, but we got used to it. The view is great, but you are right above the pool so the noise can be a bit much while out on the lanai during the day. The location is incredible, and we were able to watch the 4th fireworks being set off on the water at Kailua after a very short walk. We did have concerns that their Wi-Fi may have been hacked, or something, since our laptops started having problems while using the Wi-Fi, but stopped when we turned the Wi-Fi off. Overall, the unit is fine, but Casago was amazing. We may come back to Hale Kona Kai, but we will most assuredly book our next unit with Casago.

The location is great, view is awesome! Check-in and out were easy and communication was great. Saw some Sea Turtles in the tide pools just below our room and saw whales way out in the distance. The room is out dated and a bit musty smelling, but still clean. Had snacks and coffee as a small gift from owners which was very nice. Thank you!! Mahalo

Mixed Feelings

The Good-Excellent communication from property management. On-site staff are professional, helpful and extremely personable. The unit was “clean” (see the bad) and well-stocked. Bed was very comfortable with clean, white linens. Nice pool area. On the ocean. The Bad-Very dated, shag carpet, in desperate need of update, bathroom was paint sprayed and chipping, dishes and decor-old, all of which gave an“unclean” feel to the unit. The Ugly-wifi and cell phone reception is next to none. We had to leave the area to get reception.Calls would drop regularly. The stove elements worked on and off..in the middle of preparing food various elements would stop working. A major reason for us renting a condo rather than a hotel resort (nicer, newer and the same price) was to be able to prepare our own food. Plug outlet sparked when we plugged in phone. The property owner is making a lot of money off this unit. It is time they put some money into it so renters are get what they pay for.

DIRTY APARTMENT NOT A CLEAN CONDO

Overall a dirty place and very old and needs updating and an extremely DEEP CLEANING. No nice things dishes and silverware dirty and disgusting. Also no decor to speak of. My college dorm room was a palace compared to this guys' place. A luxury resort a few miles away was only a few dollars more per night. He's overpriced for this dump. STAY AWAY. WAAAY TOO EXPENSIVE. WE WON'T BE BACK.

Great one bedroom condo with exceptional view.

Great location and incredible view. Short walk to restaurants and shopping The online pictures are accurate with the exception of the view, which exceeds what the photos are able to show. Well stocked kitchen. This is an older building, but if you are looking for a one bedroom condo with location and view, this condo cannot be beat. Would stay here again.

Fabulous view-unit needs major upgrading

Ryan/property management was great! So many issues, some he had no control over. Unit is old & not so clean. Air conditioning on/off constantly, fire alarm went off sporadically & scared the crap out of us. Comfortable bed was the best thing besides the view. We use rentals a lot & was very disappointed but Ryan tried his best :) Need’s almost everything updated & would have been ok if description & rates reflected that. Old Paint, towels, outside table cracked, dishwasher wasn’t working right, no ice cube trays, sticky cabinets, no simple tools to fix anything, broken towel rack, cheap shower curtain/insert—just not what you’d expect AT ALL. Management is working to correct things but owners need to update this entire unit. Thx again Ryan-no reflection on you at all!!!!

Beauty and convenience

This property will delight all who come to Hawaii for the gorgeous beauty of the ocean. The view is perfect. You can watch surfers from the lanai as well as Spinner Dolphins. Just sitting and enjoying the stethoscope and sounds of the waves will melt your cares away. And it is only steps from town. You don’t even need a car. And the manager is super kind and responsive.

Underwhelming for the price

Condo was so outdated. Sliding glass door to lanai did not lock for security. Window blinds in bedroom were half falling off and the pull down shades on lanai were broke and could not be used. Towel rack in bathroom fell off the wall several times and we had use a eye glass repair screwdriver to fix it and not touch it again the whole stay. Also just FYI Kona Now will only provide you essential supplies like toilet paper, paper towels etc,,, for a 3 day supply. You don't find that out ...Oh until you get checked in. On-site Management Amazing they gave us extra toilet paper and any supplied we may have needed, This unit is WAY overdue for some TLC and remodel. Best thing about this complex is the VIEWS are amazing. Overall 2 star in my book.

Dated property but great location

Overall, this was a great location to stay while we're in Kona. It's located walking distance to a few small beaches and all the shops. The property management company was great and extremely responsive! The rental is a little dated and had some items that looked like they hadn't been touched in a while (VHS tapes, dvd play, CD player, lots of dusty of cords). If you plan on working while you stay here, there were a few times where the wifi would drop randomly. Overall, not a bad place to crash while you are exploring the island.

Staying in Paradise

Waking up to the sound of the ocean at your window or from your lanai was breathtaking. Being able to hear the waves crashing against the rocks at night was relaxing. Easy access to the beach, main strip in Kona and all the restaurants and stores! Well worth the stay and definitely would recommend this condo and property to all my friends!

Gals trip to Hawaii

Our first time in Hawaii this condo worked out well. Great views of the ocean, nice pool, parking spot, working elevator, and walking distance to eateries & shoppping. Only one glitch, the hide-a-bed was broken so our 3rd person had to sleep in the sofa as is. We would stay there again.

Great location right on the water and short walk to Ali’i shops and restaurants. Well stocked kitchen. Bed is very comfortable. Good communication with property manager. There are ceiling fans but they don’t really provide any airflow.

Good location

Good location...AC was out, but fans were provided and sleeping was comfortable. We enjoyed our stay, and this unit had beach chairs, umbrella, cooler, beach towels, snorkeling masks, and some stocked supplies in the cupboard. Great for us.

Had a rough start with this unit, although I want to point out that Taina tried to accomodate in every way possible to get through the snafoo. Stuff happens. Anyway, unit was very dirty and musty to the point we had to sleep with windows open and one of us on the couch to breath. This could have been result of the t-stat going out on AC unit just prior to our arrival which was part of the "snafoo". Again, stuff happens and it was resolved early the next day, despite maintenance having a personal accident and still coming through with the fix. The location is amazing and is what I was going after in the first place from the pictures. Love being right on and hearing the ocean, so that was spot on in that regard. Really needs a thorough deep clean. Mustiness improved with the AC working, but really should consider removing that carpet and putting tile in with the humidity levels. Thanks Taina!
