We did experience very high loud waves at the end of your stay--can't control Mother Nature.

We have zero interest in watching our guests in the pool nor do our neighbors.

If we become aware of a problem, we respond. We received notification that the Air conditioner was not working properly and therefore addressed the problem and fixed it for the renter to have Air Conditioning in their unit. This is standard procedure. The loft space is no longer listed as being available for the listing. We became concerned about using the ladder after some complaints. However, we would have responded and made the loft available if notified by the renter since we can do nothing if notified of an issue after departure. We are the closest house to the Ocean in Kailua. We are not the normal football field away. Most enjoy the sound of the surf splashing against the lava rock shoreline on our almost private beach. Often there is no one in sight. Many enjoy the spectacle of waves splashing against the shoreline. Many don't mind walking 3 minutes to the sandy beach cove a few houses away or the 1-minute drive to the 2-mile-long sand Kailua Beach. Actual photos of the beach and shoreline are shown on the listing as well as the cove a short walk away.

Due to the unique design of the house, the current windows had to be custom made and replacement windows were ordered over a year ago. Because of supply shortages, shipping delays, and worker shortages, the windows are slow arriving. However during the gests stay, the winds were extremely strong and the days and nights were off and on rain. If the strong winds weren't enough to cool the rental there are 2 central A/C's in the rental as well. Our rentals are legally licensed and not allowed to have full kitchens. That's why it is listed on VRBO as a kitchenette and not a full kitchen. We encourage perspective guests to check out the amenities of our listing before they make their reservations in order to determine if this will be a good fit for their stay.

We agree with our past guest's comments. Both rental units have an a/c, but don't forget to turn off your a/c unit once in a while and breathe in the health benefits of completely clean lovely tropical air. The nearest large population mass is about 2500 miles away from Oahu and the air we breathe is probably some of the cleanest in the world. When our ocean air reaches our bloodstreams, negative ions are believed to produce biochemical reactions that elevate levels of the mood chemical serotonin, which helps to alleviate depression, relieve stress, and boost our daytime energy. One more thing to love about Hawaii!

No Kailua house closer to the ocean. Not the usual football field away. Enjoy the sound of the surf and the practically secluded beach. Often no one is in sight. There is a sandy cove 7 houses away or the long stretch of Kailua Beach a short drive. We have new windows on the way. In the meantime the existing windows are operative and do not restrict the view. We were not informed that the table light was not working or the renter having a problem operating the microwave.

There are wooden stairs to the beach at the end of the pathway that lead to the rentals. The beach is narrow right in front of the house but it widens just to the right of the ptoperty. There is a nearby cove that is used for swimming, snorkeling, kayaking, and other water activities--about a five minute walk from the house.

It was a pleasure hosting your stay. Thank you for sharing your experience of the treasures to be found in the tide pools and the peace and quiet of the beach in front of the house.

- Soon after the guests arrival, I asked this renter to let us know if they needed anything. Any issues mentioned in this review could have been addressed during their stay, rather than after departure. - The house is located in a safe neighborhood, however, like every hotel, we have security cameras. We have never had a security problem with a rental unit or renter's car. We have active and inactive cameras. We have some visible inactive cameras as a further deterrent. - The listing states that the pool is not private and is a shared pool. The pool is not a good choice for a shy person. We have two rental units. The renter stayed in the ocean view unit which faces the ocean. Guests staying in the other rental have a full view of the pool area from one of the 2 lanais attached to it. - The house is very close to the ocean and the sound of the surf and sometimes specular waves can be experienced by our renters. The ocean spray causes maintenance problems. Usually, renters are gone during the day enjoying what the island has to offer. A repair truck was parked in the driveway and the renter had to walk around the truck. If we were notified, we would have been happy to carry their groceries around the truck or had the repair truck move in and out to accommodate their vehicle. The repair was not an ongoing event during their stay. At no time were any ladders or any material affecting the areas accessed by the renters. - The ocean view unit is located on the upper floor of the house providing a great view. A person would have to go down 14 stairs and go into the owner's private access area, then lay on the ground for that ladder to obstruct their view. Each unit has an outside deck ( the mountain unit has 2). Each unit has access to their unit, the parking area, the beach, and the pool. We have a private area on the lower floor not accessible to renters where the ladder and repair material existed. We would have moved the ladder to another location if somehow it bothered them. We would be glad to provide photos of the areas accessible to renters upon request. - This is the first complaint we have ever received about the ladder to the loft. There is a bamboo ladder for access to the loft. If the loft is not going to be used by the renter we can just remove the ladder if notified. The ladder is not difficult to go past if it is merely angled straight up instead of a slant. - This is the first complaint we have had on the door handle or remotes to control the TV or fans. We would have been glad to respond to any operational difficulties the renter experienced during their stay.
