This condo was advertised in the listing title as “Deluxe, Spacious, Clean Condo.” Unfortunately, the condition upon arrival was the opposite of clean.
The unit was visibly filthy, with heavy dust accumulation, cobwebs containing dead bugs, grime on fixtures, and significant buildup in vents and corners that raised serious air-quality concerns. I documented everything with time-stamped photos taken the night of check-in.
I have asthma, and after sleeping there one night, I could not safely remain in the unit. This was not a matter of personal preference or “different standards”—the property had clearly not been properly cleaned prior to guest arrival, despite cleanliness being explicitly advertised in the title.
When I contacted the host immediately, the response was dismissive and unprofessional. Rather than acknowledging the condition, the host minimized the issues, implied that the price justified the state of the unit, and refused to offer any refund despite the health impact that forced me to leave early.
After checkout, the situation escalated further. The host falsely accused me of stealing towels and threatened to charge me $200. I provided photo evidence taken at checkin showing that there were only 2 towels, proving the accusation was unfounded. The host also threatened to leave me a negative review in response to my complaints.
I contacted VRBO for assistance, but no resolution or refund was offered.
