Woodpecker House - One of Vrbo’s 2025 Vacation Rental of the Year

Set in the quiet town of Jewett, nestled among the Catskill Mountains is the Woodpecker House. It is a haven for a quiet, peaceful getaway, shielded from the surroundings, but incredibly convenient for reaching nearby towns and activities. Hunter & Windham are both only 10 min away boasting plenty of skiing, hiking and dining opportunities.

It's a place to enjoy the outdoors with friends and family, have a nice meal, play games, light a fire or relax in the hot tub. A place to make memories!

The Woodpecker House is set on almost 3 acres of land with all year-round mountain views. You can take advantage of the big open lawn in the front for outdoor sports and activities or head to the back of the property to explore the woods.

Our deck features a large wooden farm table and a Weber BBQ gas grill to enjoy a beautiful meal outdoors. There is also a hot tub as well as a large fire pit for you to enjoy. A picturesque old ski gondola completes the picture.

You'll enter the house through a welcoming foyer with space for your shoes, jackets and ski equipment. From there you'll step into a big entertainment space on the lower level of the house. You can enjoy our games corner with a vintage arcade game and table soccer, hang out at the bar mixing your favorite drink or relax close to a charming wood-burning stove. There is also a TV with streaming services available. In addition, you'll find a room with a queen bed, a full bathroom with shower as well as a laundry closet with washer and dryer on this floor.

Walking up the stairs you'll reach the main living space of the house with an open floor plan, vaulted ceilings and a gorgeous window front allowing you to enjoy the surroundings. You can put on a record and relax in front of the large fireplace, watch a movie on a 75inch TV or choose one of the many board games to play. A large dining table and a well-equipped kitchen with numerous appliances and bar seating is available as well. You can also step outside on the balcony to enjoy your morning coffee with mountain views, bird watching or get lost in looking at the stars at night.

There are three bedrooms located on the main level of the house as well as a full bath. All four beds are queen size Zinus memory foam mattresses with toppers and high quality linen. We also provide sustainable bathroom essentials from Public Goods.

We just came back from our weekend at the Woodpecker House what a wonderful home! It's beautiful - just like the pictures show. We enjoyed our weekend - the fire pit, hot tub, cool basement and surrounding areas. The kitchen & dining area were very nice - we used it the entire weekend. Peaceful Getaway with all the Comforts of Home

We had a wonderful stay! The property was exactly as described—clean, comfortable, and well-stocked with everything we needed. The location was peaceful yet close enough to local attractions and dining. Communication with the host was smooth and friendly, making check-in and check-out effortless. We especially enjoyed the cozy touches and attention to detail that made the space feel like home. We’d happily stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing and enjoyable.

Serene getaway

The house is so modern and has everything you need. I came here with my husband, my parents and our dog for two nights and it was perfect. House was very clean with very clean bedding and towels which was fantastic. Huge back, front and side yard for entertainment of any kind. The one and only thing is that there isnt an AC unit in the rooms so I wish there was a fan but we left the window open overnight and it was perfect. Highly recommend for families or friends who are looking for a clean modern getaway in the catskills. Will be back for sure!!!

Such a great house!

Everything was amazing, the house was beautiful and clean, the jacuzzi was the highlight of the day, we made a delicious BBQ and watched movies from the 00s in the huge TV in the living room. I would 100% stay at Phillips place again!

Beautiful cabin, comfortable spaces, and great amenities.

Went on an upstate retreat with some friends and our partners - 8 people total. The rooms were lovely and the kitchen was fully furnished. They even provided a little s’mores kit in the fridge (although we only ended up using the marshmallows for hot chocolate). We didn’t get a chance to use the hot tub but it seemed well maintained and clean. Fireplace came stocked with plenty of wood. 10/10 would rebook if the opportunity ever came!

Exceeded Expectations

We have stayed at several VRBOs over the years and this was by far the cleanest and most welcoming home we have rented. The perfect amount of space to spread out. Basket of marshmallows, graham crackers, and chocolate in the fridge welcoming us upon our arrival. Fully stocked fire places with wood and fire starters. All of the little extras usually needed (paper towels, soap, detergents, etc.). Binder of not just helpful but very detailed information. House was literally 10 minutes from Hunter Mountain and 10 minutes from Windham Mountain. Comms with hosts were timely and clear. Would giver more then 5 stars if possible.

Outstanding Home!

The Woodpecker exceeded our high expectations. The house was clean, very comfortable and well stocked. The fireplaces and hot tub worked out very well. The kids really enjoyed the Foosball table and Ms Pac-Man. There was a s’mores kit in the refrigerator and even a baby-gate to install at the top of the stairs… the hosts thought of everything. I highly recommend staying at the Woodpecker house if you ever find yourself in the area.

Beautiful home

This home is so beautiful and exactly like in the pictures. The hosts have thought of everything to entertain and to make you feel like home. It has so many features like a bar, jacuzzi, and outdoor fire pit that we didn't get to use but more reason for us to return! There's so many towns close by that we go to explore. Beautiful house

The house is absolutely beautiful from top to bottom, and the owners have taken extreme care to make it feel luxurious. From a well stocked kitchen & bar, to the collection of board games, and even plenty of towels through the house, every detail has been seen to, and it made for a wonderful stay. We would be thrilled to visit again in the future!

A Jewel in Jewett

Amazing getaway weekend in the Catskills! The home was exceptionally well-kept and designed. The little touches really let you know that Philipp and Huy really put serious effort to make the guests' stay a memorable one. The house puts you in reasonable driving distance to hiking, restaurants and other attractions - all of which we did. However, when I asked my daughter what her favorite part of the vacation was, she said it was the s'mores around the firepit.

One of the best Vrbo homes I've ever stayed in!

This is truly one of the best Vrbo stays I've ever experienced. The home is extremely well stocked - we had every single thing we needed, from all the kitchen appliances, pots & pans, and basics we needed to cook several meals, as well as thoughtful touches including multiple blankets and towels right by the door for enjoying the hot tub and deck. Philipp and Huy, the hosts, were also incredibly thoughtful in leaving us a welcome basket of s'mores supplies, and had incredible attention to detail in furnishing the home. My friends and I barely left the entire weekend, instead choosing to enjoy the many amenities and comforts of the home (and we didn't even have enough time to do it all!). The location was also convenient to many local spots that we wanted to visit. Highly recommend and we'd love to come back!

Dream Catskills Getaway

We had a fantastic weekend away in this amazing, bright, curated home. An added bonus was a fresh covering of snow which made way for sledding, a proper winter jacuzzi, and provided a cinematic backdrop to games of Balderdash. Just a few minutes from grocery stores, restaurants, Hunter and Windham. Highly recommended!

Magical Cabin

The Woodpecker House was even better than the pictures. We were 2 families (4 adults and 4 kids) and the house was absolutely perfect - comfortable beds, a well stocked kitchen and bar, awesome games, a relaxing hot tub.
