Review
So this is a 2 bedroom and a basement with beds. The basement "room" was very cold. My kids froze down there. Only one mirror in a house that says it sleeps 8. The entertainment room is part of the basement with the bunkbeds and has a projector that projects on a wall in the room. The lake is pretty and they do have kayaks and vests, that was a perk. The patio and fire pit area was spring covered, leaves and sticks. The fire pit had a huge pile of debree in it and we were afraid to light it as it was under a tree. Neighborhood was quiet but we didnt expect the trailor park next door. With anything you make the best of it.

This review is pretty accurate overall. (Stars are too low we think, but more on that at the end.) Yes, this is a 2 bedroom house. The finished basement has been converted into a third sleeping area and game room. This is all covered in the listing of beds and bedrooms so it shouldn't be a surprise if you read property description. The whole house is heated including basement, but it is easy to have thermostat set too low and not realize it. (Sounds like thst happened here.) We have a lawn company, but in spring w9th trees, you will have a few sticks and leaves here and there. We have 2 fire pits. One is under a tree. The debris in the fire pit under the tree was ash. It has been cleaned out, but neither the tree nor past ash is a problem. We have guests use it regularly with no issues. We are glad the guests enjoyed the lake and kayaks. We agree they and the large flat backyard overlooking the lake are great. We can't do much about the trailer park on the next street over. Overall, everything said in the review was generally fair. We think 3 stars is too low- the house is what is advertised: a medium sized house on a lake. We will let as many as 8 people stay. It is a tight fit with 8. If you have a group of 8 and want to squeeze everyone in, you can save money vs a larger house like these guests did, but the house is very comfortable for smaller groups too.

Family Escape
Our family enjoyed this lakefront getaway. This property provided space to spend time together and space to have quiet time. The property was clean and well kept and provided all the necessities we needed. This property is convenient to Mystic area and off the busy roads to escape the noise of traffic. We would return to this property in the future.

Little Lake House
A decent little house, lots of space and a really nice sized yard on the water. Beautiful view. The owner was very responsive to my concerns when I reached out to her about the cleanliness on our arrival. Our stay was ok- I’m sure it’s great in the summer with kids - the yard looks wonderful.

Nice Place for a Getaway
Our family of 2 teens and mother and father stayed in the house with plenty of room. Each kid had their own space and the place was clean and well decorated for the Christmas season which was a nice bonus. The only drawback was the beds were very uncomfortable .

Amazing fall location
The sunset over the lake is fantastic and the leaves were all changing. There is a lot of room in the house and it is in great shape and clean. Would recommend for a getaway. It is a long ways from a major city but shopping is not that far away. Very peaceful location

The property and area was nice little outdated but it was fine. We would love to go again when the weather is warmer. The view was amazing especially in the morning. Can’t really rate the property manager because we had no communication. Overall was a good time.

Nice Stay
The stay overall was good. We used the space to get ready for a wedding the morning of and had some friends over after the wedding for a fire by the lake. Only mentionables would be that the half bath is just a toilet under the stairs with no sink which was unexpected but worked out ok. The yard/patio/deck areas were covered in leaves and we had to sweep them ourselves. Over all the hosts were very nice and responsive and I would recommend a stay here!

A Fantastic Weekend Kayak, Fishing, and Bonfire Trip

Lovely lake Retreat!
Beautiful older home with lovely lake accents throughout! Comfortable master bedroom with walk in closet !The furniture in the kitchen and living room were also cozy ! The extensive work on the outside decks is awesome ! We had everything we needed for a wonderful weeks stay ! Our hosts, Mike & Ashleigh , did all they could to make our stay perfect !! A wonderful relaxing get away in the quiet hills of CT
We stayed with our college age son and his gf. Came up to visit family and wanted to fish the lake. The house was fantastic! The rooms were great, comfortable, and the rear of the house faces west so we got a beautiful sunset each night from the private balcony off the master and sitting around an early fire pit. The lake has quite a bit of weeds and underwater growth on the side near the house, but we made our way to the lesser accessible spots via kayak and we managed to catch a few small bass. It was mid-sept so we weren’t expecting anything crazy fishwise. The theater was great for the kids who hung out down there while my husband and I watched tv upstairs on the nights it rained. The kitchen was stocked with some items. The house provides a brita water picture, coffee, oil, salt, pepper, utensils, cups, plates, etc… the beds were comfortable and everything was clean. We wish we had more days there. quiet, the neighbors were friendly, plenty of parking, and lots of different birds for viewing. Would stay there again next year!

Really nice stay
I liked this property a lot. It is private, on a beautiful lake/pond and it has a great deck area with two fire pits, a hammock and a picnic table. It is very quiet and peaceful. There are a few issues. The area by the house is not appropriate for swimming as it has lots of vegetation etc. to be fair, the owners were upfront about this so no surprises. The middle of the lake is much more clear. Also there is a public beach 5 minutes away with great swimming and hiking etc. The house itself was nice. The basement is fun with an arcade game in it. It does smell a bit like mildew but that was manageable. The owners were highly responsive and helpful. All in All in I had a fun time at this house and was not disappointed.

Griswold lake house
We gave it a 3. swimming was not available from the dock….unfortunately the cove is weed choked in July, fishing was decent…best maybe later in the fall when the leaves fall and the water temps drop….that was a little disappointing, with a Kayak you could easily reach the main lake which was open mostly but the you'd need to be able to exit and regain your float to swim which we we not ready to attempt….we did find very nice water 3 minutes drive away at the state park. The house was fine other than the shower and vanity plumbing which while serviceable was unusual to operate and possible a scold hazard for someone. We did report some cleaning issues that the host agreed they’d look into. We did not request any return of our cleaning fee but some offer from the host along those lines would have made us feel more whole …but that didn’t happen. Over all we made the best of it and enjoyed our week a lot. The location is super if you want to visit Ledyard, Uncasville, Mystic, or even Newport.

For future guests, this groups only concern seemed to be that there was some lake plants growing near our dock which made swimming difficult. We have started having our section of the lake treated to reduce the likelihood of plant growth there in the future. The only other issue mentioned by the guest, the bathroom shower handle and vanity have been fixed.

Liveable Reno in Progress
Minus the spiders and bugs, which is what you get near a lake during the summer, I felt relaxed the entire time. Interior was clean and we had an enjoyable experience. Mattresses had covers, SUPER SUPER COMFORTABLE! Everything we needed was provided. To the rental owners I would say (and i know it cant be helped considering the location) to be a bit more mindful of cobwebs and spiders especially in the basement. Despite my fear of insects, I adapted and would love to come here again 😁

Beautiful view
Needs better sheets and a mattress cover I slept on top of the comforter with my own blanket also the shower curtain and shower liner need to be changed so do the handles in the shower there were a lot of cigarette butts around the dock and also in the bug candles buckets. The house was pretty clean and the view of the lake is beautiful my service dog and I really enjoyed our stay there I felt safe During my Time there. I would go back again in the future.

We have replaced the sheets and mattresses, as well as the shower curtain and liner since this guest stayed. We also spoke with the cleaners to ensure the outdoors area gets cleaned.

A great quiet lake house
We had a wonderful time fishing on the nice dock, my husband caught a 5 lb bass, the small beach area next to the dock was perfect for the kids to play in the sand. We wish the doors had screens so we could leave them open and enjoy the fresh air even more, but we were able to open a lot of windows. A GREAT spot for young kids, they loved the downstairs with the toys and move projector

Early Summer Getaway
It was perfect! The house was clean and neat. Everything we needed to be comfortable was supplied, and the kitchen was perfectly stocked with dishes and cookware. The location is awesome! We were 15 minutes or less from everything we wanted to do, and walking out the back door to be right on the lake for boating and fishing was incredible

Hidden gem - We loved it
This was a great stay. House was clean and cozy, backyard and the lake view were amazing. Went fishing and used the kayaks in the lake - overall a great stay. We had no complaints and would definitely stay again. House was clean, neighborhood was quiet, but it is just a few minutes off the highway - kind of a hidden gem if you want to stay in the Mystic area.

Weekend Disc Golf Trip
We rented this lake house during the last weekend of winter. It was too cold to go in the water but convenient to a handful of great disc golf courses. The house is comfortable and seems to be in the process of upgrade. The peaceful pond view and the backyard would make a nice summer setting.

We had a great stay in Griswold, close to Mystic and only about 15 min from Foxwoods. House was very clean and the fenced in area of the yard was wonderful, our dog absolutely loved it. The sunsets over the lake were amazing!!

Location, location, view!
I checked in to the home late at night, and my first thought was it was OK, but nothing special. But then, the next morning I woke up and looked out at the view from the bedroom balcony - stunning. The backyard is just an incredibly restful place. I ate breakfast most mornings relaxing and enjoying the view, and most evenings spending some time just relaxing and snacking on fruits around the fire at one of the two fire pits. Not to mention the 4 or 5 wonderful kayaking jaunts I took from their lake access. Going out on the lake in the kayak was so incredibly relaxing. The place is clean and comfortable, and the basement is a fun spot for kids. The house was clean and comfortable - nothing fancy - but their backyard - my oh my - I could just relax and look at that view all day….

Great Lake House
Nice house on a great lake. Loved using the kayak for boating and the sunsets are spectacular! Backyard is amazing with the fire pits. Master bedroom has a deck that overlooks the lake and is amazing for sitting on at night and watching the stars over the lake

Perfect weekend getaway
Lovely property! The outdoor space is particularly amazing with a hammock, fire pit, plenty of seating. The beds are also very comfortable and spacious. One thing to note is that the kayak is a children’s kayak but it’s still usable by small adults. Nice hikes in the area as well.

Beautiful lake. The sunsets from the hammock on the patio or the fire pit in the back yard are unbelievable. Very nice water for kayaking and fishing too. The hosts seem to have made some upgrades/improvements to the house - deck looks new, theater room downstairs has wood trim, patio areas look redone. Overall a very nice stay. 10/10.

Beautiful home and location
It was clean and beautiful, a very picturesque and serene home. I'm tempted to believe some other reviewers might not be used to living/being in an older house or building, which will naturally have a little wear after so many years. The beds, bedding, flooring, surfaces, bathroom were all nice and spotless! The AC's kept the place cool during our (summer) stay without an issue. The WiFi worked nice, and we had no problems checking in or out. Overall, I felt very comfortable. No undue stress, here :) I took two small dogs (15-25 ibs) and they had a blast with the small, private beach and waterfront. There is a fenced-in backyard that they were able to safely roam around off-and-on. The kayak offered some fun new experiences, and the hammock was definitely fought over. We don't have children, but I imagine the small basement with the arcade game would've also brought a lot of joy to the trip :) Thank you Michael & Ashleigh!

Nice stay overall
Nice place. My big kids loved fishing in the lake all week, while my toddlers loved digging up worms and playing in the yard. As long as you figure out what to do about the mosquitoes it’s really a beautiful place to hang out and enjoy time outdoors with your family. Michael and Ashley were easy to communicate with, and when a problem came up, they went about fixing it asap. Would definitely recommend!

Gorgeous property and house comfortable clean and such wonderful hosts
I had the most delightful week in this gorgeous house right on the lake. The property is direct waterfront and the views from the house and the property are amazing in addition to the actual dark and waterfront itself. The house is so comfortable and it was spotlessly clean. I loved the king suite so much for a workcation! Both of the large beds upstairs are super comfortable I didn’t get a chance to try the bunkbeds down in the media room. It was so great to have a desk and a sitting area with a balcony overlooking the yard and the lakefront. The kitchen is really nice and the house was very well stocked. Not only did I have plenty of pots and plants and garbage bags and things like that they left me the most lovely toiletries in the bathroom. Lots of clean and fluffy towels. Superior quality bedding. The house is really beautifully decorated but still comfortable not stiff. I enjoyed sitting in the living room a lot and watching movies in the media room downstairs. My dog just loved the fenced in patio right off the kitchen door and the whole backyard. That patio is amazing with all the levels and seating areas! There are fire pits a weber grill and really nice quality year-round outdoor furniture. Every day I was so happy to be here. I watched swans on the lake and many beautiful birds. There are very tall old pine trees with the long cones and it’s extremely pretty even in winter. Speaking of that the house has great oil heat with a regular thermostat none of that cheapo propane or lock you out of it smart thermostat stuff. The house is warm and the hot water is plentiful and the laundry is really nice too. If you like Chinese food make sure in order directly from Mandarin Garden Jewett City it’s excellent. Also make sure you read the alternative directions provided by the host it’s easier to get to the house that way. The host went out of their way to make sure that I had everything I needed for a wonderful stay. I will absolutely be renting here again and again!

We had a beautiful family gateaway !!! The house is very comfortable and has a gorgeous lake view. It was a rainy weekend but it didn’t affect us to enjoy the firepit. My daughter really enjoy the movie projector. We had a different and relax New Years Eve!!! We love the place !!!
