Vacay in the mountains! Our cozy mountain home retreat is the perfect place! Play a round or two of golf, tour the local wineries, picnic on a pontoon while taking in some fresh mountain air. Come and enjoy the beautiful hikes and nature that Big Canoe has to offer. Located in the beautiful North Georgia mountains easily accessed by car from Atlanta. Relax in a unique setting within Big Canoe Resort. Wooded setting next to a creek which is alive with wildlife! Black bears, deer, turkeys and more. Enjoy the tranquility of a rambling brook while relaxing on the deck or screened in porch of a cozy creek side cottage. Enjoy star gazing in the dark as overnight outside lighting is not permitted. Equally enjoyable are a drink, book or a nap while the water ripples past. King size bed on main level, queen upstairs, and bunk room with two bunks. Fully equipped kitchen and washer/dryer on premises. All recently renovated with upscale fixtures to impress. You will feel right at home. Keep cool with the central AC. Free Wifi and Smart TVs in each room. Blue Ray DVD player, board games and puzzles are available for your enjoyment. A gas grill is also available for your use. Towels, beach towels, linens, shampoo, conditioner and body soap are provided. We provide a starter set of garbage bags, laundry soap, dishwasher tablets, toilet paper and paper towels. Flat parking for three cars. Bring your hikers, swimsuit, and adventure seeking spirit as the rest is awaiting your arrival! Located close to Jeep trail within Big Canoe and other hiking trails, 6 minutes from north gate or main entrance, centrally located to marina, pools, playground and golf course. Do not miss the water recreation area at Lake Disharoon including pool, lake activities such as paddleboards, paddleboats, canoes, kayaks, beach volleyball, inflatable water obstacle course, picnic area with grills and the ever popular rock slide. Renting a pontoon is a fabulous way to spend the day! The Big Canoe Golf Club is also not to be missed. You can't beat fishing on Lake Sconti or Lake Petit where all the gear you need is available at The Shack located at the Big Canoe Marina. Amenities are an additional fee. Other attractions close by are Gibbs Gardens (20 minutes), vineyards - Fainting Goat, Sharp Mountain, Feather's Edge. The town of Jasper has a quaint downtown that is fun to explore and there are several estate/antique boutiques in the area.

Amazing

The house was absolutely amazing! Beautiful views, comfortable bedrooms, amazing bathrooms. The kitchen was extremely well stocked, and we made most of our meals there. Everything from check in to check out was very easy beautiful location! We have three children, six, seven, and eight. They had an amazing time with all the different things to do in the area. Would definitely love to come back.

Highly recommend!

We met some family at the cabin and all enjoyed it!! We did several hikes and cooked our meals there. We had all the supplies we needed in the kitchen. We creek is right by the house and so you don't need a sound machine - could hear it babbling from my bed at night!! Great place to stay!!

Great cabin in an awesome landscape (Big Canoe) with a wonderful owner

The cabin was even better than expected from the pictures. The owner was very detailed and extremely helpful and knowledgeable about the area. Lisa provided us lots of things to do around Big Canoe and even sent some seasonal festivals. She also mailed back a forgotten item for us! Another outstanding perk of this property vs too many VRBO’s was that there are cleaning materials available for you to utilize as well as bathroom amenities. With little kids especially, it’s so much easier to have easy access to to these things to be able to clean up after them like you’re in your own home. Great place and great owner in a super landscape, highly recommended!

Gilmer Vacation

This property was just the getaway we needed. It was large enough to accommodate a large family. The kids absolutely loved the property and the local amenities. The stream was such a plus to the overall ambiance. We absolutely loved it here and definitely will return!

Peaceful creek

We enjoyed our time at this peaceful cottage by the creek. The creek runs around screened porch, deck, and front of house. The house had everything we needed,very comfortable and beautiful bathrooms. TV worked great for college football. Pretty view of property in trees on side of hill. Property owners were great to work with. Would definitely recommend staying here.

My family and I enjoyed our stay. The kids enjoyed the Nintendo of all things! The beds were comfy and we loved that the table fit our large group. The furniture was a little worn and some of the dishes had to be washed before we could use them (which happens with dish washers) but all in all I would definitely come back.

WONDERFUL Property! Description of Amenities a bit unclear

This property was so clean, just as described as far as the house itself goes, so spacious, and in a GREAT location! It's private and very comfortably fit 8 of us. The description could be a bit clearer about the amenities at big canoe costing extra and not being included in the rental. All of us read the description ahead of time multiple times and just weren't super clear. Also, there could be more extra blankets/sheets, and the description should list that two of the beds are trundle beds in the bunk room. Once those pull out, there is no floor space, which is just good to know if trying to fit 6 people in that room :) The kitchen is small but works great for what you need! We cooked several meals there. There is no hot tub on the property, so the description is a bit misleading there./ All in all, I HIGHLY recommend this property with the understanding of amenities costing extra and the setup of the bunk room.

Great location of this property but disappointed about our experience

After a 6 hour drive we arrived to the gates to check in and they had no record of us. This was particularly surprising to me since I have emailed the owner only a couple days prior with a question and noted our check in day. We were told we needed to call the owners. I did not have the owners phone number handy as this was unexpected. After some back and forth with the gate worker they managed to contact the owners and we were let in. The owner immediately started calling my phone and told me that there was an error and the home had not been cleaned yet. We arrived to a home with no bedding on beds, dirty floors and bathrooms and overall what you would expect for a home that was not cleaned after the last guests. After a 6 hour drive I could not even use the bathroom. I might add also we arrived 4 hours AFTER our scheduled check in time. So there was more than enough time for this to have taken place. The owner advised me that we could place the sheets on the beds ourselves and the house keeper could come the next day (bathrooms are still needing cleaned) We were not ok with this (who would be!) so she sent the housekeeper that evening while we sat in the living room for two hours while she cleaned bathrooms and put sheets on beds. She did not mop or vacuum any of the main living areas or clean the kitchen. We were told she could come back the next day to do this, but we declined as having her in the home when we were on vacation was a huge inconvenience, not to mention this all was supposed to be done beforehand!! I will add that the owner did refund one nights stay for this inconvenience. She did NOT however refund the tax we paid on that one night or the cleaning fee. The location and property itself was great, the community is great, but very remote. We enjoyed the pool/lake area and beware they may or may not be serving food at the pool even though it says they do. That is dependent on the staff and business they have that day.

Perfect Mountain Getaway

This was our first time in N. Georgia and this super cute home made our stay extra special! My sister and her two teenagers, my brother, and me along with my two young children came for the weekend. There was plenty of room in the home for everyone to spread out and it also had the perfect communal table to gather. The kids LOVED all of the games that were available in the living room and put them to good use. My 7yr old loves to draw and was sad that she had brought paper but forgot her markers, then to our surprise there was a container of crayons available! We used the grill both nights and enjoyed spending time by the creek which is literally just outside of the door. It also provides soothing sounds at night. We definitely plan on returning in the winter to hopefully enjoy some snow!

Wonderful!

We enjoyed our visit so much! The home is very clean and decorated so nice. It sits on a beautiful creek and is so peaceful. Big Canoe has plenty of amenities as well. The property owners were so helpful and very easy to communicate with. I would highly recommend, you will love it!

Great weekend getaway.

We had a great mom and sons trip at the Creekside Cottage in Big Canoe. The amenities including the Beach Clubhouse were great and something for all ages. Thank you for the bottle of wine and cold water in the fridge!! What a nice touch! We all discussed making this an annual event.

Family Getaway

The host was very quick to respond to any questions or concerns we had and was very friendly and helpful. We had some minor issues, which she addressed promptly. She did warn us about ensuring doors and windows remain closed to keep bugs from coming inside. Unfortunately, despite being careful to keep doors closed, some bugs made their way inside anyway. I do not blame the host though. The house is in the woods, and she had already had an exterminator come out and planned to do so again after we left. We had two families sharing the home. The creek was pretty to look at and soothing to hear. We enjoyed having the extra long table that allowed everyone to sit together for meals and to play board games and put together puzzles. The kitchen is on the smaller side, but it helps that there is a walk-in pantry for storing food items. The main downside for our group was sharing the Jack-and-Jill bathroom with the queen bedroom and bunk room. Having separate vanities and an additional half-bathroom downstairs was a big help. The negative was that the tub and toilet area upstairs has pocket doors on both sides, and we couldn’t get either door to lock, which created a privacy issue. The homeowner did say she is planning to address this issue though when I made her aware of the situation. We also explored some of the amenities of Big Canoe: hiking trails, parks, pools, and the marina. To our disappointment, Lake Disharoon with the rock slide and beach were closed for maintenance. The host let us know as soon as she found out about this before our trip, so thankfully we were not taken by surprise when we arrived. We also found out that the marina no longer rents canoes, but they have kayaks, pedal-kayaks, stand up paddle boards, and more available, which were a lot of fun. The amenities were well-maintained and fun to enjoy. The challenge for us was finding them. Cell phone service isn’t great, and some of the amenities are not listed in Google or Apple Maps to get driving directions. You have to drive to all of the amenities, so it would be helpful to have driving directions available in the binder and for the community to list more amenities with internet map providers. It would also be nice if Big Canoe offered an all-inclusive guest pass to purchase instead of having to pay at each amenity. Some also require reservations, like bocce ball and I think tennis. Overall, we had a lot of fun and made some good memories!

Beautiful Property

We stayed for 4 nights for a wedding in Big Canoe. First off this community is amazing! The home was perfect for our family of 5. It was extremely clean and in great condition. In fact it has been beautifully renovated. The little creek outside was so nice to hear and the porch space was perfect for sitting and enjoying. The owners were amazing to work with. One of my best VRBO experiences to date. Thank you the Belden’s for sharing this gem with us.

Nice Area

Beautiful area and nice trails close to the home. Lots of space and located next to a creek that was very soothing. The cleaning service may have been in a rush because there were a few things that could have been cleaned better especially when we have to pay a cleaning fee. Overall great stay, would stay again.

Wonderful Cabin

We had a great spring break in Big Canoe and at this cabin. It was our first time at Big Canoe and it was so convenient from Atlanta! We have a 5 and 3 year old and the cabin was perfect for kids. They loved the bunk beds, the toys & puzzles, bean bag chairs, DVDs for movie night AND the best part was the creek in the backyard! What a lovely noise to fall asleep to at night. Big Canoe had a ton of options for our family: We utilized the indoor pool (call a day ahead to get a reservation and it's $7/person for an hour of swimming, but you get the whole pool to yourself), did lots of hiking...most of the hikes were only a 5 min drive from the cabin to the parking area, canoed on the lake and went fishing. Would love to explore the community during the summer too! The cabin had soap, shower supplies, beach/pool towels, lots of kitchen items, and complimentary water bottles and wine! We truly had a wonderful time here, no complaints at all, highly recommend.

Weekend Getaway from Atlanta

The property is very nice. Nice big gathering space and dining set up to be together. The bedrooms are very nicely done and everything is very clean. I was disappointed to not be able to use the fireplace as it was cold out and adds so much to a rustic setting. It was in the listing, as prohibited but I did not see that when I booked and wished it had been more clear.
