So glad you enjoyed your stay and thanks for the lovely review! Being a relatively unspoiled medieval village dating from the 13th - 16th centuries and being built on the remains of a 5th century Roman Villa, “sights to see” start within walking distance from the front door of Maison de la Paix and then range anywhere from a short drive, to as far as you want to explore on any given day. One of our favourite pastimes is to plan a day outing taking a quiet countryside route passing various sights and then later sitting down to a 'plat du jour', or our own picnique lunch somewhere along the way, mingling with locals, before meandering back home doing much the same, but on a different route. There is so much to see and explore, near and far, that one could quite literally spend years doing it. As you say an ideal base for exploring Perigord.

We are sorry that your experience was disappointing, but the opinions that you have expressed here are so totally contrary to those of anyone who has ever explored the Perigord from our piece of French heaven, that they are misleading and that it is of great concern, as they may unjustly put off future visitors to the area and indeed our house. Dealing objectively with your issues: The manual with suggested trips, e-mail contact details of the restaurants and so much other information, was e-mailed to you long before you even left home on your travels and it was later found in the living area as confirmed with you, besides which it was again e-mailed to you within half an hour of your 6 time changed 1.5 day late, night time arrival. Perhaps you misinterpreted the House Manager's fluster as being rude, but this was probably brought about by your continuous changing of the meeting time, the fuss about the manual and trying to find you a restaurant late on a Sunday night in a tiny medieval French village? The 700 plus year old house is not in the "center of town", as you claim, but is actually built into the outer fortified defensive walls of the medieval village, with the beauty of being able to walk into the countryside within 50 paces of your front door. It is not possible for passers by to "literally peer into your windows". It is a village house in one of the most unspoiled and authentic medieval villages in the region (less than 500 residents). Everything in the description and photographs describe it as such! You do concede that the house is lovely and thank you for that. It is sunny, south facing and with a beautiful private garden - such a rarity in a village setting. As for what to do? The area is one of the richest historical regions in the world, jam packed with so many attractions from troglodyte cave dwellings, chateaux, fortified bastide and medieval villages, wineries village markets, night markets, communal meals, medieval fares, huge winding rivers etc. etc. One does have to travel the beautiful winding country roads to explore and visit them, but his is what a holiday exploring the Perigord is all about. Sadly you seem to have missed out on all of this, or perhaps it is not of interest, but I really do not think that you researched your apparent needs versus the chosen destination. In summary it really saddens us that you were disappointed and not able to rave about your time in the Perigord and Issigeac, as all our other guests have.

Must have been really exciting to catch the Tour de France for 2 days - literally on your doorstep - never mind all the other community activities that you, the kids and grand parents got involved in.
