We booked a King Suite at the JW Marriott by the courtyard specifically to ring in the New Year with the "style, fashion, and peace" this hotel promises. My girlfriend has been managing a chronic, painful physical condition since childhood, so this wasn’t just a "night out"...it was a carefully planned, much-needed romantic sanctuary for her to find some comfort. Our plan was simple: a quiet, high-end evening together watching the popular series finale of Stranger Things and catching the ball drop in Times Square. However, the experience was utterly derailed by the hotel's infrastructure. We spent nearly half of our New Year’s Eve frustrated and hunched over devices because the "complimentary" Wi-Fi was non-functional and the TV system refused to connect to Netflix. While technical glitches happen, the reason for this two-star review is the staff’s apathy. We reached out for assistance, hoping for a quick fix so we could get back to our evening, but we were met with a shrug. No troubleshooting, no alternatives, and zero effort to rectify the situation.
Instead of a peaceful night of connection and recovery, we spent our holiday acting as our own IT department, wasting hours of a very expensive stay on basic amenities that should have worked seamlessly. If you are looking for a place where "luxury" includes attentive service and functional technology, you may want to look elsewhere. We left feeling that our time and my girlfriend’s need for a peaceful evening were completely.
