Alaska trip
We arrive to postcard views and the most beautiful scenery God has created. Cozy, comfortable and amazing cabin and Tom was a super host to help with anything. This cabin made our first trip to Alaska simply amazing.

The view was spectacular! House had all amenities as well as some spices, and helpful travel necessities. Reasonable drive to restaurants and activities. We stayed two nights. A third to relax and enjoy the property would have been wise.

Amazing
We loved Glacier View! It had more than we needed. So nice to come back from fishing and hiking to such an amazing house. The views were nonstop and we saw moose every evening and one night a bear walked casually through the yard eating. Catkin was great to talk with and helpful! Would love to spend an entire week there! It’s perfect!!

Just a beautiful property. Amazing views! We saw whales in the bay, eagles, and moose right out our door. Immaculate inside. Loved the rustc log cabin feel. Futon couch could be replaced with a regular sofa. Mattress in Master could be replaced. But this would not stop me from staying here again.Loved every minute!

Indescribable
The awesomeness of the location cant be put in to words. The Cabin was warm and very clean and better equipped than any rental we have ever been in. For example, there is both a charcoal and a propane grill. All the cooking tools and dinnerware you wold ever need, even a nut cracker for your crab. Catkin and her husband were very sweet and helpful, even when I called late in the evening. Again, the views are spectacular and seeing moose grazing on the property became 'old hat'. The property is private, so it's your own little slice of paradise.

Beautiful vistas in a secluded and gorgeous location
This is a very special place to stay. Cabin was well provisioned and very comfortable. The views of Katchemak Bay are breathtaking. It is located on a large historic and intact homestead which is also still a family-run farm. We saw moose, a bear, and sandhill cranes on property. Also, there is a mile or so hike down through the property to a very lovely beach without another soul in sight. Catkin is a very welcoming host. She makes sure her guests are comfortable and have the information they want about area. Highly recommend if you want to stay near Homer but don’t want to be in town! It is an authentic Alaskan experience!

Absolutely Spectacular!
We took a few days getaway down to Homer from Anchorage and enjoy being on the East End for the seclusion and views. This was our first time staying on the Kilcher homestead and it’d be really tough to beat how amazing this cabin is, the hospitality from Catkin and Tom is, and how unreal the views are. We are already planning our early summer trip down!

Peaceful stay with Amazing views!
The views never got old! We lucked out with beautiful evenings to have dinner on the deck. Our boys loved the large yard to run around in and we highly recommend making the trek down to the beach. The cabin was well outfitted with everything we needed and very clean! We had a wonderful stay and would love to visit again someday!

Glacier view heaven
This property is everything you see on this site . Charming, clean and everything you need to prepare your meals. The views are breathtaking, glaciers, mountains, moose . Also your host is just a call away should you need anything. We do recommend the Kiltcher museum tour, very interesting. Also take the walk to the beach, challenging but oh when you get there it’s awesome. Highly recommend

Magical stay
We absolutely loved our stay in June! Catkin was an amazing host The view was spectacular, the cabin was beautiful, and the hike to the beach was one of the best hikes we did. We enjoyed the Homestead Museum and tour, and we’re even lucky enough to have Otto drop in to say hi during our tour!

Peaceful wilderness retreat!
Our family of 5 enjoyed Glacier View cabin immensely. The cabin was as described and better yet. Thoughtfully appointed and clean, we enjoyed our 3-night getaway on the Kilcher Homestead property. We all loved watching the mama moose with her two calves feed in the field in the early morning and late evening. It’s was a perfect opportunity to slow down in the midst of our 2 week family road trip. We hope to return again someday.

Perfect Location
We had a wonderful time at the Glacier View rental. The location and view cannot be beat. A moose and two calves even strolled through the front yard as we were unpacking our car. My only complaint is that we didn't have more time to spend there, relaxing and soaking up the views.

Our stay at Glacier View Getaway was one of the highlights of our Alaska trip. Catkin was a wonderful host and the cabin fit our needs well. Not only did we have amazing views of the mountains, glaciers, and bay but also were visited by a moose and her calves. I would love to go back.

Stunning views in Homer!
Great cabin, wonderful views, excellent communication with host. The upstairs suite is stunning! Be aware that both bedrooms are upstairs and the bathroom is downstairs. My elderly folks get up several times each night to use the restroom, and had worries about navigating the stairs. They opted to sleep on the futon downstairs, and said it was quite comfortable! 100% would stay again! Kim & Tom

Heaven on earth.
First of all, the beauty of Kachemak Bay and the Alaskan glaciers is beyond compare! The cabin is located on the Kilcher Homestead. Catkin, the youngest sister and her husband, Tom, were exceptional hosts. They were kind, very informative and a pleasure to be around. We enjoyed sharing wine and stories one evening which made our stay even more enjoyable. The cabin had a perfect view of the bay and mountains and a peacefulness that was divine. It was fun to see moose, porcupine, coyote, and cows sauntering through the backyard occasionally. We highly recommend this cabin for your next vacation.

This was an awesome cabin overlooking the bay and mountains! Everything you need (and more) has been provided by Catkin! This cabin is clean. We loved everything about Glacierview! Catkin was a sweetheart. We would stay here again if in this area!

Fabulous Stay
The cabin was cozy and comfy and the spectacular view of Kachemak Bay can’t be beat. We took the premium tour of the Kilcher Homestead and highly recommend it. The owner was very kind and accommodating when we found we had locked ourselves out of the cabin upon returning from a late dinner in town.

Wonderful Cabin and Property on the Kilcher Homestead
Catkin is an amazing hostess that is always there to help if needed. The cabin is warm, cozy and fully equipped with everything you need to make it your home away from home. The Homestead tour is a must and daily walks to the beach were one of our favorite activities in the morning. Hands down the most relaxing vacation we have ever had! Jill

Bucket List Trip
Ms. Burton's cabin "Glacier View" was everything we expected and then some. There were gems found at every turn, such as views, comfort, friends, convenience(the list could go on and on). Ms. Catkin was a very gracious host and we enjoyed our time with her. We wish we could have spent more time listening to her stories of growing up in Alaska. We are truly happy she accepted Gondra as a friend and we will make sure that Gondra's new Alaskan friend will make it to meet her (more to come later on this). Located above Kachemak Bay within sight of the Homer Spit, Glacier View offered the best of the mountains and the ocean. The cabin was quite comfortable and Catkin was a great host.

We really enjoyed our stay. Friendly, hospitable host (fresh veggies offered up for our dinner!) and a lovely place for our family to spend some down time together. Views are phenomenal, beach walk is highly recommended, and momma and baby moose visited each night as we sat to enjoy dinner.

Peaceful, quiet, serene. Gorgeous view.
Very peaceful here, unbelievably quiet and that incredible view were the best things here. Enjoyed 12 nights here. Loved the big wrap around wooden deck, and enjoyed several dinners using the full size gas grill. Saw a Momma Moose and her two calves run right by the deck through the property. Loved returning here after trips to Homer for supplies and several restaurants on the "Spit" in Homer. Satellite TV does not work here. but can use the TV for DVDS and VCR supplied. Though with the current state of affairs in the world...no TV coverage for two weeks was not a bad thing. WIFI worked very well. The website does not state or show pictures of the bathroom, which is on the main floor with both bedrooms on the 2nd floor. If you have physical difficulties or need to use the bathroom several times at night (like I do) you will need to use those wooden stairs. Plus bringing your luggage up those stairs. The water is on a well system, which worked well most of the time, but did have a couple of times that we ran out of water. That was immediately taken care of by a simple call to Catkin, who had the water truck come out to fill the back up water tank the next day. We watched as the truck filled 1147 gallons, but by then the well was recharged again. Garbage can out back, but if you stay longer like we did, it's best to take the garbage to the dumpsters. Travel east on East end road about 2 miles just passed the fire station. Turn right across from the school and left into the dumpsters and recycle. All in all loved our stay...and those wonderful hours sitting out on the deck enjoying the view.
