The building is a one story old plantation home arranged around a central courtyard with a covered breezeway. With original wood floors, windows and hardware, it displays quite a bit of charm. The large windows on both sides of the room allow for max ventilation and we did not need AC. HOWEVER.... the quaintness has its pitfalls and all the above features make for a VERY NOISY PLACE. We had a lovely first evening when the hotel was empty but for one other room; then all hell broke loose the next evening, when the hotel filled up with guests partying and chatting in the courtyard and in the breezeway until the wee hour, other guests leaving noisily at the crack of dawn, kids playing in the courtyard and running around the covered porch, etc... Trash cans were left overflowing after the party, hence my so-so rating for cleanliness. There is no onsite management, which did not bother us, but is to be noted. There is a farmers market in front of the hotel on Saturday mornings, nice to grab pastries or fresh produce for breakfast or picnic.
