The Space:
Welcome to Bridgend Cottage, by Salt & City Stays, a stylishly restored 200-year-old cottage, perched above picturesque Aberfelin Beach with the Pembrokeshire Coast Path right on the doorstep. The rugged coastline stretches out in both directions, with adventures waiting around every headland, and the village of Trefin is a short stroll away. Whether it’s a family break or a romantic getaway, this is the perfect base for exploring Pembrokeshire - and yes, we happily welcome dogs too!
Step inside to the cosy downstairs snug, the ideal spot to brush off sandy feet or kick off muddy boots. To the right is a stylish, spacious family bathroom with a walk-in rain shower and WC, which doubles as a utility room with a washer and condensing dryer. To the left, a comfy sofa faces the smart TV, with a PlayStation 4 and books for quieter moments.
Through the arch in the thick stone walls is the twin bedroom, where floor-to-ceiling windows fill the room with light and frame views across the bay. Upstairs, your eye is drawn straight to the panoramic window running the length of the living and dining space. Perch on the window bench with a coffee or a glass of wine and take in Aberfelin Bay.
The modern, fully equipped kitchen opens onto the dining area, making cooking a sociable affair, and coffee lovers will find a cafetière for a slow morning brew. At the far end of the room, the log burner and cosy living space are a retreat on cold or wet days and a haven in the evenings.
The king-size master bedroom sits at the far end of the first floor. French doors and a Juliet balcony mean you can enjoy the coastal views without leaving your bed.
Cross the lane from the front door to the cliff-top garden, set across three levels for an ever-changing outlook and the chance to chase the last of the evening sun. It really doesn’t get closer to the cliffs than this.
Lovingly restored, the 200-year-old cottage is now a stylish, tranquil hideaway on the Pembrokeshire coast. With views and a location like this, we’re sure you’ll fall in love with it just as we have.
Guest Access:
You’ll have private use of the entire cottage and the three-level cliff-top garden across the lane.
The Neighborhood:
We're very lucky to have the Pembrokeshire National Park Coast Path directly on our doorstep. Turn left or right out of the front door and explore the stunning coves and cliff in either direction. This is a truly special spot on a quiet stretch of the North Pembrokeshire coastline.
The cottage overlooks Aberfelin Beach, steeped in history, with the ruins of the 18th-century Water Mill at the foot of our garden. At low tide, it reveals some of the best rock pools in the area, full of crabs and shrimp, and perfect for a day of family adventure. This little sand-and-shingle beach has its own special island with a tunnel you can walk through at low tide, and the clear blue water is perfect for sea swimming on calmer days.
A few hundred meters away lies the village of Trefin, offering a warm welcome and a chance to experience the local charm. The Farmer's Arms in Mathry, along with The Sloop and The Shed in Porthgain, are just a scenic mile away, offering a choice of local dining options. Of course, should you prefer a cosy night in, our fully-equipped kitchen allows you to enjoy a home-cooked meal, followed by a relaxing evening in front of the crackling wood burner or enjoying the starry display from the panoramic window.
We would recommend having access to a car to make the most of your visit. The cottage is well situated to visit everything Pembrokeshire has to offer, including St Davids (Europe's smallest City), and any of the coast's golden beaches, including Whitesands, Newgale and Caerfai.
If you want to travel inland, you can visit the market town of Narberth with its galleries, café and craft shops and for a family day out, a visit to the award-winning Folly Farm Adventure Park and Zoo, Manor Park Wildlife Park, Oakwood Theme Park or Heatherton World of Activities is fully recommended!
Getting Around:
A car is essential at this location to enjoy all that Pembrokeshire has to offer. There are also some excellent cycling routes to explore. During the spring/summer months you can hire a bike to be delivered to you from Pembrokshire Bike Hire.
Other Things to Note:
- The garden sits right on the cliff edge above Aberfelin Beach, with a quiet rural lane between it and the cottage. Please keep a safe distance from the edge and supervise children and dogs at all times.
- Parking is roadside, either parallel to the garage doors or in one of the pull-in lay-bys along the road. The narrow lanes suit small to regular-sized cars best, larger vehicles should be parked in the lay-bys . The garage isn’t available for guest use.
We provide a travel cot with a cot mattress for babies; cot bedding isn’t supplied.
