Lovely
It was so fun to stay with my daughter. We made deviled eggs with the farm fresh eggs they left us, and salad with fresh cucumbers, tomatoes and lettuce!!!! We enjoyed the whole garden adventure, it was a gorgeous landscape. Not small at all. We visited the garden of Eden right bf we came to the cottage and had the same feel. The cottage has a beautiful ocean view. It felt very private, but also the cofort of great hosts just a walk away.

Short stop in Hana
This Was pieced as last minute for 2 days before returning to mainland. We arrived 1100 am Saturday and stowed our luggage and food, left to hike falls and bamboo forest at pei pei wha trail what a magnificent hike. Sunday we hiked to black sand beach and lava tube. Such a quiet and peaceful night on Saturday very relaxing and restoring. Next time here will stat 4-7 days at least. This place is quiet a find.

Loved this cottage!
My husband and I loved staying at this cottage. The property is gorgeous and Terry and Michael were super helpful. We enjoyed exploring the garden with the help of their friendly cat, Kat! We loved visiting Hana and are really glad we spent four nights here. This was a very convenient location to explore all the Hana has to offer. We can't wait to come back some day!

Amazing Stay in Paradise
We enjoyed every moment of our stay in the cottage. Michael and Terry are incredibly kind and put a lot of effort into helping their guests feel right at home. It rained a lot one night so the entire area lost power. We didn’t mind, it felt very cozy in the cottage listening to the rain. And they brought us candles and checked on us to make sure we were okay. Terry also gave us a tomato from their garden and eggs from their chickens for breakfast every morning and a personal tour of their gardens which was so enjoyable. The views are incredible and the location so close to Hana makes it much easier to explore the Road to Hana. We could take our time and avoid the crowds at all the sites because we were so close to a beautiful home base. There is fast and reliable WiFi but honestly we barely used it and instead enjoyed unplugging in this Hawaiian paradise. Pictures don’t do it justice, all the amenities were perfect for our needs. Thank you for such a peaceful stay! Mahalo!

Unplug in the Rainforest
We loved everything about Entabeni Gardens. Terry and Michael were the best hosts we have had on VRBO— very responsive and hospitable. The property is incredible and completely off the grid. Truly “unplugged”. The plants and garden are something out of this world. Terry had everything for us to use from beach and snorkel gear, to kitchen utilities. We would definitely stay here again. Loved this place!

Tropic Paradise
What an interesting and enjoyable space. Peaceful, private and beautiful! Everything you need from a small gas grill on the spectacular front porch to a fully equipped kitchen. Abundance of interesting decor inside and a literal flower, plant and tree garden outside. The ocean breeze, intermittent showers and ocean vistas rounded out a great stay. The hosts were readily available if needed, but scarce otherwise. Only 5 miles from Hana, but seemed like a different island. Highly recommended!

Terry was an incredibly generous host. She welcomed us into her home which was absolute bliss. The garden setting is peaceful and my daughter absolutely adored the cat, dog, and chickens. We even had fresh eggs and herbs from the farm for breakfast. The spectacular ocean views were mesmerizing. Will definitely come back next time we are in Maui.

Green Paradise
Dear Michael and Terry, Countless words can not express our gratitude to you both. For your gracious hospitality and for sharing this beautiful green space. We will never forget these five peaceful days celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary. We felt we were the only two people alone in Paradise. After hiking amazing trails each day we slept great every night on the comfy bed with the moon shining, the ocean breeze blowing, blow. The frogs, birds and insects singing and the bamboo thicket rustling. We were cocooned by nature. We would be remiss not to also say thank you for the many delicious fresh eggs, herbs, bananas, cucumbers, peppers, and the meatiest and most delicious tomatoes ever. we loved seeing the chickens, guineas, and Kat and Kit, of course. Your lush gardens were a delight to wander through. Everything is so thoughtfully designed, and the artwork and garden features just added to the unique experience. Loved the framed quote in the study. “learn of the green world what can be thy place.” We truly found a special place here. Thank you for your years of love and labor to grow this paradise. With sincere gratitude, may God bless you both and your families too.

Relaxation in nature with a beautiful view
The cottage gives you a feeling that you have gone back in time where there are no fast paced pressure and worries. In the evening sitting on the front porch with my wife and a bottle wine was so peaceful listening to the birds and rain. The bed was very comfortable and sleeping with the doors open kept the room at a perfect cool temperature. There are all of the amenities you need for cooking, showering and laundry. Watching the sunrise was gorgeous with all of the colors in the clouds. While eating breakfast (with supplied fresh eggs, peppers and coffee with our added meat) on the porch was so beautiful as the light from the sun intensified as it kept rising behind the clouds over the ocean. The colors of the plants around use kept transforming until they were fully exposed showing all of their colors. We heard strange clicking or chirps coming towards us and we watched some Guinea hens go through the yard. There is the added bonus of being able to tour the yard which is a botanical garden with a huge variety of plants and trees to wonder through on the paths. The whole property is off of the grid for water and solar with an added bonus of WIFI so you can look up the types of plants you took pictures of in case you didn't see the markers and to send pictures to your friends to make them jealous of where you were able to stay. This was a great break for our tour of the Hana side of Maui to rejuvenate for the ride back to the west side.

Heaven on Earth
The cottage and grounds are a slice of heaven on earth. The cottage was well stocked with everything we needed and more, and the grounds and view were breathtaking. Terry and Kat made us feel welcome from the minute we arrived, and Kat was a great companion whenever we were outside on the porch. We are so happy that we decided to stay two nights at the cottage to explore Hana and the surrounding area.

Peace and Serenity
After 4 days in Honolulu and 3 more in Wailea (Maui), we were in desperate need for some peace and quiet and relaxation. And we found it here! The vibe is calming and tranquil. The cottage exudes relaxation. The grounds provide an peaceful earthing experience. It was so nice to eat fresh eggs and veggies/fruit. The hosts (Michael & Terry) are fantastic people; they provided excellent directions and suggestions for local attractions. Michael was very thorough during his welcome tour and they were both lovely and welcoming. I would highly recommend this place! We will return again.

Tropical garden on steroids!!
Wow! I was expecting a beautiful garden but what Michael and Terry have built at Entabeni totally blew my mind!! The gardens are breath taking! We enjoyed walking them and Terry was so kind to show us around and even gave us fresh veggies/fruits! The cottage is gorgeous and comfortable. The bed was super comfortable. We stayed 2 nights which was great to do pipiwai trail, black sand beach, and a couples massage at Luana Spa (highly recommend). Thank you for sharing your tropical paradise!

Another Amazing Stay
Once again (our 3rd time here), we really enjoyed our stay at this magical oasis. Beautiful views and the peaceful, serene grounds make for the most relaxing stay. The hosts are always gracious and welcoming (fresh eggs and garden delights!). It’s such a treat to come back to after a glorious day out enjoying Hana’s wonders. Paradise
This place is paradise! Terry was so helpful answering all our questions before we arrived and after. The cottage is so cozy and plenty of room for two people. Our only complaint would be that we couldn't stay longer. If you love plants/flowers this is a must stay. The gardens are so beautiful! Thank you for sharing your slice of heaven with us.

Great place to get away from everything
Great relaxing location. One odd thing though... The property owners came into the cottage when we left. Once to do the dishes, and another I'm not sure about. We closed the door to the cottage when we left, and whenever we returned, we found the door wide open. If they would have let us know they were going to do this it would have been fine. But they didn't, and our privacy felt violated.

Aloha Gary, We always check the cottage after guests leave for the day to make sure they leave all the screened doors open to catch fresh breezes and to see if they need to have fresh eggs for their next breakfast. Since we are on solar power, we also check to see if guests have left the lights on and fan running.. Michael moved your draining clean dishes from the counter to the dish drainer as they could easily have fallen and broken. He also turned off the fan one morning. All these actions were not to violate your privacy; rather so you would have power upon your return to an aired out cottage and not have to suffer humidity or sweep up broken dishes. We will be sure to inform future guests of our routine. Thank you for choosing Entabeni Cottage for your two night stay.

The cottage is lovely and very well appointed, the garden is magical and the view is spectacular (when the clouds lift :-)) It rained most of the time we were there (just one night unfortunately) but we liked that too--lulled to sleep by the patter of rain on a tin roof!

A little slice of paradise
Our visit was absolutely wonderful. Terry welcomed us upon arrival letting us know about our cottage. Fresh eggs were a great perk. Kat the cat was an excellent cohost welcoming us every evening and morning. The bed was comfortable and the view was astonishing! Definitely make sure to get there before dark… we didn’t and had a difficult time finding the drive in the dark. Our fault though because Terry did warn us in the check in information. After finding it the first time it wasn’t that bad. I 10/10 recommend this slice of paradise and hope to return some day! Aloha and Mahalo from Missouri

Hana Paradise
This cottage is an amazing slice of paradise. It sits in the middle of a botanical garden with the most beautiful view of the ocean. The cottage is equipped with just about everything you need except food. Michael and Terry are wonderful hosts and will deliver you farm fresh eggs if you want them, which you will. 😋 This will be our place to stay in Hana.

Words can’t really describe our stay. It was wonderful. I felt like we were living in the midst of a tropical jungle - the beautiful flowers, trees, and plants were amazing. The cottage was so unique, clean, and well equipped, and what we didn’t have, our host, Terri, graciously supplied. And speaking of our hosts, Terri and Michael were so warm and kind. I felt like they were family. Terri gave us a tour of the flower farm shortly after arrival. She was so knowledgeable and showed us so many stunning flowers and plants. The views from the cottage are beautiful and we loved the nighttime sounds of nature with all the windows and doors open. We also loved the company of Kit and Kat- the resident outdoor kitties who are very friendly! I would highly recommend staying here if you want a truly unique and beautiful experience. It’s much more than just a place to sleep. We hated to leave and next time would stay more than 2 nights!

This place is paradise! The absolute perfect place to get away from the crowds, decompress, and enjoy peace and quiet. Fresh eggs, fruit, juice, and herbs complimentary from the host made our breakfast one that we will never forget! Amazing Property!!
This is an amazing place to stay! It is unlike anything we’ve experienced before! You wake up to an ocean view & fresh eggs from their farm! We walked the property which is so beautiful- the flowers, plants & animals- including Kit & Kat-the kitties~we loved them!❤️ This property is close to the town of Hana & offered a great location for checking out the Black Sand Beach, Pipiwai Trail, Hamoa Beach, Lindbergh’s gravesite & lots more! This was such a unique experience! Terry & her husband are very responsive to any questions about the property; they go above & beyond to making your stay unforgettable! Hoping to make it back to Maui someday & we would definitely stay longer than 2 nights next time!

Fantastic stay on the road to Hana
Great stay at a great property. The grounds are incredible, the views sensational. Terry and Michael were wonderful hosts. The location felt like a great stopping point on the road to Hana, affording us some much needed respite after arriving on the island and driving the road. I went to two other Arboretums that same day and neither came close to the magical wonderland of these gardens. The horticulturist from the Honolulu Botanical Gardens decide to retire here and what an Avata- like.Garden of Eden he and his wife have created. The plants are remarkable and set together in such lovely ways. There are even signs idenidilying the soecies. Everything about the place speaks of magic and beauty and creativity.There is an art studio in the back of the property which they generously allow you to visit. There are lots of circles: circular paths and open circles with just grass and a central item. One is a wild huge metal ball and the other is a small circular pond with gorgeous flowers in it. I saw so many flowers my heart almost burst. We only stayed one night and it wasn’t enough. Michael and Terry are welcoming and helpful but also respectful of your privacy. The Cabin itself is set up to be both lovely yet comfortable space.The kitchen has everything you need to really cook! And the shower is nice and super hot! Plus there is an outside shower. There is an amazing view of the ocean from the windows and back covered deck. There are also two kitties, who don’t get to come in the cabin to protect guest with allergies, but they are part of the welcome crew and so sweet. I was blown away by what a truly lovely and inviting space they have created. Oh one more thing they leave you fresh eggs from their chickens and they are so good.

Tropical Hideaway
All the reviews are true! A tropical oasis - a challenging, but memorable drive to get here, but there is a pot of gold at the end of this rainbow. Off, but also on (internet, etc), the grid - Terry & Michael are wonderful hosts, the gardens are other worldly, and there is renewal and relaxation in the air. Can I give it six stars? I want to be there right now....

This cottage had all we needed and more. I was not expecting all of the extras such as seasoning and coffee beans with a grinder as well as so much more! The owners were very accommodating when we needed to drop luggage earlier then check in. My only regret was not being able to stay more than one night. The grounds were beautiful and we were free to roam. The view was unbeatable! We were greeted immediately and check in and check out was easier than ever! We hope to be lucky enough to come back one day! Our only suggestion would possibly be a tower/floor fan to blow directly on the sleeping area at night but that's just what we're used to at home. The bed was so comfortable. You will not be disappointed with this stay!

Near Volcano National Park
This location was fabulous, as long as you realize you're in the rain forest part of the island! It was cool enough at night with a breeze so you don't need AC (there is a portable one). We left the windows open. The Coqui are loud, so you'll need earplugs, but they are all over the island now, not really a way to avoid them on the Hilo side. Kitchen has dishes and pans. We brought our own knives and oil, so we were set. Rice cooker was handy. Owner supplies drinking water, which is great. Washer and dryer were very handy as well. One toilet is outside with the washer and dryer which is odd, but it was fine. There's a door and it's not like you can see any neighbors. Wifi was fine, watched a movie on my phone. They do have DVD selection. Pretty tired after hiking in Volcano NP, so didn't really need TV.

This guest has written a review that does not relate to Entabeni Cottage. We are in Hana and there are no coqui frogs in the Hana area on Maui. We also do not have any outdoor toilet by a washer and dryer. I think this guest is confusing us with another stay. Please do not post this review to our website on VRBO.

Paradise in a Garden of Eden
Unbelievable gem near Hana with incredible views, fresh eggs, and an arboretum around it. It was like being in a dense tropical rainforest except it was planned and cared for by the owners. Im a goer, climbed Haleakala by bike the day before I rented it, the the place caused me to slow down, listen to nature and appreciate the silence and beauty.

Beautiful, peaceful property
We really enjoyed our stay. We spent most of the first night just looking at the night sky in the breezes and darkness. Very clean and well-maintained. The gardens in the property are really something. And I’m very grateful to Terry and Michael for the heads up on need for black sands beach reservations. It’s a pretty remote place and with Hana Road being what it is, you’re far away from “resort” style experience, which we got on out last night in Maui in Lahaina. So if that’s what you want, be aware of that. But I would strongly recommend this location for any adults looking to see a wilder Maui.
