«Everything was fantastic! The only odd thing is that there wasn’t a headboard on the bed. The staff was very kind! If you look at the window latch on the courtyard side of the room, it might say “made in occupied Japan” on the knob, which if you know your history, it should give you a solid idea on the age of the hotel. But the place is in great shape, seems freshly remodeled, and really is quite a treasure. The song of the night birds is mesmerizing! One word of caution for late arrivals ...

«Shower was clogged»

«The staff was concerned with us getting there before 8pm. We hurried to get there and did not stop for dinner. We arrived to check in at 5pm and the staff seemed eager to show us our rental and get out of there (we were the last and maybe only ones to check in that day). There was a living room but there were beds in it. The shower was challenging to figure out how to use. It had two handles (neither were marked) which seemed to produce cold water no matter how I turned the handles! On the ...

«Vi sov tre netter i en av de koselige hyttene ved Kulaniapia Falls. De ansatte var hyggelige, fasilitetene gode og tomten fantastisk. Det var veldig deilig å kunne lage sin egen mat på kjøkkenet og slappe av med sjøutsikt i låven, og muligheten til et forfriskende bad i elven og ved fossen like ved. Vi hadde et behagelig og fredfullt opphold ved Kulaniapia Falls, og vil anbefale det sterk til andre.»

«We loved staying here for the convenient location near U Hawaii Hilo and all the Hilo sites. It’s a great walk around Banyan Dr and the park in the morning. And there is plenty of shade for pool time later in the day once beach time is done. It’s only 7 min drive to the main shopping and dining in Hilo. Great location, clean rooms, and helpful staff!»

«This property was wonderful. It was high above the town with great views of the town and ocean. It had a distinctive modern architectural style and an authentic comfortable feel. Our room was clean and well stocked. It was spacious and we had an outside balcony. There was also a beautiful garden and a large shared living room with a pool table. We would definitely stay here again on a future trip to Hawaii.»

«We enjoyed breakfast overlooking the ocean and surfers. Our room had a bit of an ocean view and a large private lanai on the front of the home(great spot to eat our take out sushi one night) The owners and managers thought of everything! We would recommend this place to our friends.»

«Staff was great»

«This is a very nice lodge with a great history. The room was spacious and we really enjoyed the hot tub and the nature trail. My only complaint is with the people in the room beneath us as we heard them talking well past the quiet hour of 10:00 pm. As the inn has no night manager, I was required to deal with it myself by talking to them directly. Not sure if the insulation between the rooms is adequate. We did hear other neighbors as well but they respected the quiet hours. »
