The house was clean and the beds were comfortable. The electricity amperage in the house is insufficient. The kitchen lights would pulse/strobe slightly when any appliance (toaster, microwave) was in use. The hot water heater was broken. For 2 days of our 5 day trip, we had hot water only if we went outside and re-set the heater between each shower. there were 6 of us (ages 11-75) staying in the house. the last 2 nights/mornings we had no hot water at all. The hosts were responsive. They tried (but failed) to fix it. for one of the days we were without hot water they gave us access to another property a 15 minute drive away to shower. helpful, but inconvenient. That property was smaller, had only one shower, and small hot water tank. With 21 hours left in my rental, the host gave me the option to check out early to get a 1 night refund, but at that point where were we supposed to go? i can't find another vrbo for 6 people that is instantly available for one night. Given our family structure a hotel was not really feasible. And, with only 21 hours left in my trip, i was busy doing the things we came to town to do. I did not have time to find another place to stay and to pack up and move. The hosts gave a very very small amount of money back on the rental. The refund was not sufficient for our troubles. Other hosts have given me greater unsolicited refunds for less significant issues that were completely resolved within 3 hours. In this case, we lacked hot water for 40 hours.
