Thank you for the feedback and great detail of what you encountered. To clarify: The envelope was meant to be given for payment for your urgent relocation to your new hotel receptionist, not you. The amount mentioned was practically the same amount you have paid for your room without any corresponding commissions and taxes. The receptionist as a trainee had to deal with an urgent situation that needed immediate resolution in order to minimize any delays on your checking in. As needs of the hotel are constant and guest’s desires must be addressed as soon as possible we decided to provide you a room at the famous Caldera where steps are involved in all occasions. We were not notified that a disability issue was part of your room reservation thus this decision, practically to even things and have you in a room by the cliffside. If you had attempted to explain at check in, a different choice would have been made as Fira town has numerous hotels next to each other. Addressing this review, we believe it is unfair as you practically never stayed at Theoxenia. Apologies again for your discomfort.

This is because you had booked a room with city view and not Caldera/Volcano view. You could always walk up the 17 steps to the second floor to enjoy our terraces and patios that view the Caldera. It is rare that some guests do not read any of our descriptions and then feel they were misinformed. Theoxenia is a very small hotel with great people and knowledge of the island, as we are serving guests for many many years already, from generation to generation and until this Volcano island completely re-destroys itself we hope to be here to assist people in getting to know this island as much as possible for these few days while in Santorini. Thank you for your feedback. For the past 20 years we have no pool but we are using the Aressana's one. Jacuzzi is working just fine but is not heated when the temperature outside is 30-36 Celcius, but on day temperatures to use as refreshing whirlpool. Rooms are outdated although we have made changes the past 4 years and we are working on our next renovation, thus the inexpensive room rates in comparison to the rooms from the rest of the Hotels in the area. And yes, there are plenty of Hotels around, but obviously you chose us for the good reviews and the price comparison. Again, thank you for your kind feedback and generous rating.
