Matala - budget
Ikke noe kjøkkenutstyr, heller ikke vannkoker (umulig å få laget seg en kopp te/kaffe). Bra størrelse på rommet - 2 enkle senger og en køyeseng (totalt 4 personer). Flott badebasseng - men uten vann i slutten av april. Litt lite privat uteplass i forhold til naborom. God parkering like utenfor rommet. Rent rom. Kort vei (spasertur) til Matala sentrum. Stille og fredelig plass.

Super Hotel und super Personal. Einfach toll. Wenig unnötiger Luxus. Mehr Sauberkeit, Menschlichkeit, Ruhe, Wohl fühl Gefühl und gutes Frühstück. Das Personal bemüht sich sehr um die Gäste. Sie sind sehr freundlich. Auch zu denen, denen man nie recht machen kann.

Bel hôtel familial. Bon accueil et disponibilité de Dimitri. On apprécie le calme sur la terrasse au petit déjeuner ainsi que la possibilité de se rafraîchir dans la piscine avec souvent peu de monde voir personne : appréciable par rapport aux grands complexes. Très bon rapport qualité prix. La salle de bains serait certes à rénover, mais le prix ne serait pê plus aussi compétitif... Hôtel à 500m de la plage. Parking privé.

Sous prétexte du covid, repas du soir annulé à notre arrivée mais remboursé que 5€ par repas et par personne…. C’est à peine le surplus pour le petit déjeuner sur le site de réservation ! En réservant j’ai payé 15€. Une arnaque de 10€ par soir et par personne ! Le petit déjeuner n’est pas un buffet très peu de choix …..

Simple, safe, affordable and great location. I also found it charming. If you aren’t looking for a Ritz experience, just a nice place to stay in Matala, then I say go for it. We were pleasantly surprised and will stay here again.

Stayed at hotel in April, during shoulder season. Wonderfully quiet, tucked back off Main Street, but walking distance to Matala Beach. Older, small hotel, with all rooms having a door and window facing the outside, which we appreciated, for sunlight and fresh air. Though simple and dated, the room was comfortable and clean. Still early and chilly for swimming in the pool and the ocean, but we knew that would be the case. Nice Greek breakfast buffet served by staff. Try the mountain tea. Staff were wonderfully friendly and professional, making our stay enjoyable. We recommend short visits to the archaeological sites of Phaestos Palace and Gortyna European Law Code (and Temples of Egyptian and Apollo) in the earlymornings, then spending the afternoons at the beach.

Pourrait etre mieux
Les chambres sont vieilles, surtout la salle de bain. Malgré que ce soit propre, elle ne donne pas envie de l'utiliser, et on pas reussi à avoir de l'eau chaude non plus. Hormis ca, le reste est ok.

Cette petite adresse familiale souriante vaut vraiment le detour. L'accueil le petit-déjeuner très sympathique devant la piscine on est vraiment en vacances. Un parking avec de la place pour se garer et à quelques minutes de la plage de Matala. Très bonne adresse à recommander

This is a small (believed to be 16 roomed), presumed to be family-run, hotel, set back from the road into Matala and 3-4 minutes walk from the town's main facilities and beach. Due to its location it is very quiet and peaceful, with views of the rugged mountains around. Plenty of car parking space - no charge. The rooms are fairly basic but more than adequate, with plenty of storage space - wardrobe, drawers - a TV (limited channels on offer but how much time are you going to spend watching TV?), a decent sized fridge and a wall safe. Take your own travel kettle if you like hot drinks in your room as one is not provided. We didn't have need to use the air conditioning so unable to comment on its efficiency. Other reviews have criticised the bathroom area and shower. Whilst basic, they were perfectly adequate for our 5 nights stay at the end of October / beginning of November. Sunny days certainly generated hot water although by the morning the temperature of the remaining water had dropped to lukewarm - so perhaps better to shower in the evening than the morning. Breakfast was available beside the outdoor swimming pool, with a good and plentiful selection of items, e.g. yogurt, melon, hard-boiled eggs, fresh bread, jams, meat, cheese, cake, besides fruit juice and tea and coffee. The staff were very friendly and helpful and always seemed willing to help. We are very happy to recommend this hotel and would certainly use it again if we were returning to the area in the future.

Familienfreundliches, ruhige Hotel in Strandnähe.
Wir wurden freundlich aufgenommen. Hand-und Betttücher wurden nicht nur turnusgemäß, sondern auf Wunsch auch nach Bedarf gewechselt. Kleine Reparaturen erledigte man sofort. Das familiengeführte Hotel war jederzeit in der Lage, Nachfragen und Wünschen nachzukommen. Wir fühlten uns wohl und geborgen.

Property was quiet, which was great, however... No warm water until the sun kicked in, which wasn't horrendous. The beds were without exaggeration one of the most uncomfortable beds I've ever slept in, woke up and kept having back pain. Room size was small but hey who cares, it was just a hotel to sleep in. We left our room in the morning and came to find out room clean BUT with our things rearranged, which wasn't the best feeling in the world. After making sure that everything that we bright with us was there, we look at the bright side that we now have clean everything... But still no warm water at the end of the day. On top of that, the shower head wouldn't stay up so i had to help myself with the shower head in order to rinse off... Great surprise after paying about $250 a night here... So, to summarize, i feel that this property needs to rethink its prices given its conditions. Definitely would NOT recommend this property unless you're absolutely desperate... Which we were at the time of booking this hotel.

Located just a short walk from the village centre yet far enough away to be out of the hussle and bussle. Matala is a place to enjoy and so the hotel was for us, just a place to retreat, relax and refresh. I will stay there again next year.

When we arrived we were politely informed that the hotel was full and we would be staying in another hotel. The second hotel turned out to be a busy place on the main street of Matala and not the quiet retreat we were expecting. We were furious that our booking was not respected.

In the booking of our Family Room there were listed 4 beds, but we find that there are only three beds and a cot. The double bed is the only decent, albeit small, the single has a tragic mattress with the springs piercing the back, the cot is almost unusable even for a 20 kg baby as it is worn out. The room is exposed in the south, so it's torrid. At least there is the air conditioner, but it has'nt been cleaned for years. It has molds everywhere inside and smells as you switch on it. The bathroom is so small and lousy, that even getting a shower becomes a problem. During the period the room have not been cleaned, neither the garbage taken away. The pool, built only to put the photos on the site is poorly kept, dirty, with a quantity of chlorine, put handly and in uncontrolled way, which irritates as soon as the bath extends somewhat. Breakfast and meals are of low quality and prepared without any attention. The staff is extremely unkind, especially the girl at the reception, who with a fake smile refuses to give any kind of service. Never had such bad hospitality from a Greek. Carefully avoid dinner. Finally the staff lacks the slightest desire and ability to do everithing. On the online booking sites rated two stars, on the private site rated three stars resort, behind the door I find the Greek Tourist Board sheet with a rating of one (1) star and the cost of the room half as much as I was requested. Everything documented. Strongly disliked. Aviod it carefully.

Freundliche Unterkunft mit sehr gutem Frühstück

3 jours passés dans cet établissement. Réception peu accueillante par une personne peu enclin à vous aider. Avons de gros problèmes de dos et personne pour monter nos valises. Pas d'ascenseur.

Hotel aux prestations très simples. Chambre propre avec petit balcon et vue dégagée Atmosphère très calme en Avril Le petit déjeuner était un peu trop simple cependant, n'offrant pas de fruits frais par exemple. Et en cette saison la piscine n'était pas encore remplie.

Poor experience
We did the reservation for a room same day on the road 1 hour before we reached the hotel. The hotel manager was gone, as it seems they don't look for late reservations, and rely on daily listings send by the system. Had to call and explain my case to the hotel contact who was driving his car. Hotel manager came on after Half an hour and gave us acces to the room. They did the job, however I would expect them to have real on site manager, not just somebody to come in when there is planned work to do. Second grief, we were unable to get decent shower as water was too cold because of lack of sun that day.

Wir fanden es sehr, sehr schön.
Die Lage ist super. Das Frühstück ist gut. Unser Zimmer war geräumig und sauber. Pool ist schön. Das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis passt total. Wir hatten genau das, was wir uns vorgestellt haben. Marianthi und Family sind supernett. Wir waren 3 Wochen da und würden immer wieder das Hotel wählen. Für uns war es perfekt
