While it stated that it was close to Komtar, it was, but there’s nothing much worth seeing or doing there unless you have little kids. Otherwise, this hotel is far from restaurants unless you want to eat all the time at the street vendors. There are also no bars unless you go to one of the nice high rise hotels. So the location is not really that great.

Tres bien situé
Le personnel est aidant et accomodant. Chambre petite et fonctionnelle près du secteur touristique et de la station de bus. Seul bémol, un nouveau regroupement de street food faisait ces debuts à l'arrière du bâtiment. C'était a ce moment peu achalandé. La fenêtre de notre chambre donnait sur le coté donc peu dérangeant. La musique jouait jusqu'à max minuit.

Didn’t stay
Although we booked this hotel, we didn’t’t end up staying. We found the room much too small, plus there was no wardrobe, just a rail above the desk (and kettle). We didn’t know you had to leave your shoes in the lobby before booking. The roadworks outside (although temporary) were the last straw so we stayed elsewhere. The receptionist was great about it, explaining that it’s more a backpacker’s place, which we are not. The receptionist was great and suggested we claimed a refund, so fair enough to the staff on-site.

The hotel location is good and price is reasonable. However, if you need a early rest at night, it is impossible here since the music from the neighborhood will continue to 11:00pm.

The hotel is well located and at walking distance of main attractions. Also, very close to the bus station. But there is a bar next to it with live (and loud) music until late at night every night. Rooms with balcony face straight to the bar. Not recommendable for people that want to sleep early.

Love this place!
Loved staying here! The hotel has a beautiful aesthetic and they stick to it - from the outside to everything inside - it’s gorgeous even though it’s a bit on the small side. Perfect for solo/duo travelers. Even better if you’re the kind that enjoys music because right next door is the “hideaway” area (which our room’s balcony actually opened out to) which is like an open air area with food and drink vendors, with music every night. There are also loads of shops, great restaurants, cafes and even the mall is quite nearby. Overall, i have absolutely no complaints and having to store your slippers before going up to your room is a small price to pay for how clean the place is because of it

The awkward moment was when we ask to change our shoe n carry our shoe back into our room, each time when u going out or coming back to our room. Not counter service after 8pm, when we suddenly feel to request for extra pillow time we wanna sleep. Sink so small. N we get parking coupons

White mansion is an excellent place to stay for a trip to Penang. The rooms are finished to a very high standard and the front desk team are very helpful. It is in a good location and we would stay here again in the future.

This was amazing sty in this hotel. The only embarrassed it need RM100 cash for the security deposit. Unfortunately I only managed to get RM 50 include all the small note & coins

The property was cheap and not too far from the centre of town & attractions. Cold & hot water dispenser available near rooms. Room was quite small, bathroom products not replaced daily, no tea available in room just coffee, supply not refilled. Breakfast rather ordinary. Bar was closed everyday.

Nice, clean, neat, small hotel
A nice tidy small hotel. The staff pay attention to keep the place looking smart. The reception staff were always welcoming and helpful.It's nice to see one of the old colonial era buildings looking smart and providing such a worthwhile service. The hotel is close to Komtar and the bus station so travel to anywhere is easy. A little tip, free buses run in a circular route down to the ferry terminal and back.

Has potential but disappointing
They never replied to any emails, forgot something in the room and that was apparently never found. Downstairs restaurant is quite loud too. Ppl are very friendly but without following though.

Everything was awesome.. The interior is something unlike typical hotel. However, the room was not soundproof as much as I would like it to be I can hear the clean lady outside even a light cough can be heard in the room. I understand some people are the quiet and I can see that the receptionist is one of them but she responded to all my requests humbly and smiled when we met eyes. Sambal Nasi Lemak needs a kaw one, other food and drinks were great.

Newly renovated hotel in local neighbourhood.
This really is a boutique hotel.This area is becoming local hip + the bar downstairs was quite busy in the evening.The rooms are small but bright.Everything decorated in good taste.It appeared that the TV was not subscribed to any English channels + I was the only non Asian guest but the young lady at the front desk spoke good English. Freshly ground coffee for breakfast with toast + jam.Cooked Asian food available. Easy walk to KOMTAR where the bus station + mall is. Demolition work in progress across the street but they didn't wake me until 8am. No lift and polished wooden floors are slippy without shoes which you are required to remove. Enjoyed my stay though.

clean room at reasonable price.
favorable staff with clean room. and it's reasonable price. but little noise from 1st floor bar until midnight.. the drain was not good. i think the wall with restroom was leaking. maybe the hotel will fix that. and if hotel gives some information about the free CAT bus stop it will be helpful. it is a little bit hard to find that.

The hotel is in a good location - a 25 minute walk to the centre of Georgetown. It's only been open 3 months. 24 hours after arrival I was asked to change rooms because of a mistake - not mine. I had to ask twice for toilet paper.... you'd think that was a prerequisite! Reception is not 24 hour, as stated and there was nobody there at 8am when my room key failed to work after breakfast. The chap who 'runs' the buffet (not great by the way) suggested I contact the manager by phone as so many previous guests had complained about the keys. I sent two sms but no reply. I then sent an email and had a response 36 hours later with a very unsatisfactory response, thanking me for my feedback!! Oh, and if you put the 'do not disturb' on your door, they still knock. Poor staff training and dreadful service. Never again.

Trendy property with good proximity to KOMTAR and yet provides a stay void of the commotion and noises. Friendly staff. Ideal place to stay if you appreciate simple things in life. Smaller room. Ideal for 2. Can see the care that has gone into every single detail of the property. Would recommend to friends.

Newly renovated heritage building with lovely staf
This is a newly renovated guesthouse with lovely, helpful staff in a heritage building. Rooms are small with no drawer space at all and only 4 coat hangers on a rail; as we were there for a week this was a problem for us (we got 4 more hangers when we asked). Breakfast is very basic, the best thing being toast and jam. There are hot options but these are cooked early and left to go cold; in such a small property it would be easy to cook items freshly to order. The location is great with street food opposite and Komtar and Prangin Malls for lots of choice in eateries. Tip: buses are extremely cheap and download Grab App for cheap car journeys.

It’s definitely a nice place to be BUT there is no parking! Plus there is NO parking area available to near by. It’s horrible. The site shown there is free parking but never state that we have to fight for it with the public. Maybe it’s best, you specify about the meaning of your “free parking”.

Building is old, I like to sleep without ear buds in. 50 bucks Canadian a night is a decent price. Noise is loud, water from floors above is loud, dogs out side the build and car noises are loud. I suggest requesting a top floor room, I asked repeatedly for a quite room, end up with the vip room, language barrier defn played a room. Over all for 50 bucks all in can’t go wrong. Any hotel in the city you should not except anytype of western standard. Strong chemical smell in room from laundry, have a headache still.
