It was close to the area of town we wanted to visit and shop in. Dining was also close by. Owners were very friendly and helpful. Great breakfast!

Great stay

Amazing facility and very gracious hosts. Room was large and very comfortable. Hosts were very accommodating. Prepared breakfast was fantastic. Location was ideal.

Wonderful experience

Our weekend stay at the Avery was relaxing and enjoyable. The breakfasts were amazingly prepared. This was our first B&B experience and it did not disappoint. The location was perfect for walking into the downtown shopping district. Our room was clean, updated, and very comfortable. We would highly recommend them.

The property was very clean and updated. It was very conveniently located to Main Street, less than 10 minute walk. The hosts are very friendly and outgoing. They thought of any and all amenities that would be needed and had them available to guests. We will certainly stay there again on our next visit to Galena!

We had a wonderful time at Avery! Bob and Cherish were kind and helpful. Everything was very clean and tidy. We enjoyed sitting on the porch and in the gazebo. We will be back!

Perfect place in Galena

Beautiful home on a hill as you enter Galena from the east with free street parking by the house. Very comfortable all around (porch, bedding, room). The owner was very informative. Home was very quiet. We never heard people walking around and barely heard anyone talking during the breakfast. Would definitely stay there again.

Warm welcome by the owners. Bob was eager to please and worked with room and breakfast preference when applicable. His potatoes, eggs and bacon were scrumptious. He was very helpful in offering suggestions on places to eat and visit. Highly recommend this place when visiting Gelena, IL. P.S. they have a candy bar for all to enjoy.

Can’t wait to come back to Avery House!

A beautifully maintained home with comfortable accommodations walking distance from Main St. Galena. Breakfast was excellent and the best touch is the candy bar at the front door. The beds are VERY comfortable and the rooms are gorgeous. My hubby, the coffee addict LOVED that there was coffee available 24/7. The backyard and porch is perfect for a lazy afternoon. We cannot wait to come back and stay again. We dream about having coffee on the back porch. Bob and Cherish are the BEST hostesses.

This property has existed since the 1800s. The rooms are cute and quaint, and they are very clean. There is an outdoor patio and gazebo area so you can enjoy the views of the river and the town of Galena from a peaceful perch. It is a PERFECT location for getting around. Main Street is a block away, so we walked there every day of our trip to shop and eat. The river is also a block away, so you can rent canoes/kayaks, rent bikes, walk the trails along the river, or simply sit and enjoy the views. The host is accommodating and knowledgeable. Ask him anything and he is bound to know the answer. If not, he thrives on new knowledge and is sure to find the answer! There was a sit-down breakfast every morning at 9, and the food was great. When we return to Galena, we will not hesitate to stay at this property again!

Stellar!!!

Our first time in a B&B so I have no point of reference or comparison. We are of the opinion that our experience is now the benchmark for all future B&B planning! We were spoiled since we were the only guests for a couple days prior to the Memorial Day weekend. Having the entire house to ourselves was icing on the cake! Bob and Cherish are amazing hosts! I can’t say enough how we felt at home with down to earth personalities. The conversations we had were filled with knowledge and history of the house and area and more. If given the chance, intellectual conversations flow easily and we had the feeling we knew them as friends since we connected on many levels. Open minded, well educated, and professional through and through! Bob is a badass in the kitchen! Make sure you tell them what you want in the beginning and they (Bob) will make it happen.

We totally enjoyed our stay at the Avery House. It is an historic property that gives you the feel of the 1800’s but with all the modern amenities. Our room was large, clean and comfortable with its own bath. After spending the day in Galena, it was pleasant to come back to. The owners were wonderful people who saw to our every need. From giving us a history of the area to recommendations on where to go and where to eat. The breakfast in the mornings were also delicious. The first morning we were there we ate on the porch outside overlooking the gazebo. The next day in the formal dining room. We also enjoyed all the thoughtful extras that the owners provided. Coffee stations both upstairs and down. A upstairs refrigerator stocked with water. The “Candy Bar” for a quick snack. And while we were there, a fresh made snack (brownies one night, cookies the next) that were waiting for us when we returned in the evening. The property is also located within walking distance on the Main Street shopping and dining area. This was our first time in Galena and had such a good stay, Avery House will be our go to place for future trips.
