This is an ideal getaway anytime of the year. In Summer explore the surrounding lush rainforest, swim or kayak in clear waters of Lake Mapourika. Visit the beach at Okarito and walk the trig to experience stunning views of the Mount Cook ranges. At the house, take time to cook in the kitchen and sit out on the decking taking in the perfectly stunning views surrounded by native bird call. Chill and relax on the outdoor seating with the fire pit going, enjoy a glass of wine whilst watching the sun set. Then as it falls dark, listen out for the call of the kiwi in the sanctuary overlooking the house.
In Winter, the days are crisp and clear, perfect for taking a Heli ride to stand on top of the glaciers or walk round Lake Matheson to take in the famous mirror image of Mount Cook on the lake. Enjoy an al fresco coffee or meal in one of the many cafes. Then head to the house to curl up in front of the wood fire, read a book, knit, watch tv or make a puzzle. It’s a space you can truly switch off from the hustle and bustle of life and get back to the simple things in life.
