This is a big fancy hotel in a tiny town. It reeks of corporate management. The rooms are excellent and very comfortable. The hotel caters to the coach tourist trade as well as independent travelers which can make dining a bit of a crush. The location has more than enough character to make up for the hotels lack of it. If you like shiny and impersonal then this one is for you.

Accommodations were adequate and clean. Dinner was affordable and had adequate menu options. Needed room key to get into the building you were staying in and your room. Adequately secure and close to accomidations for laundry and town for groceries, etc.

Easily accessible by car and close to restaurants and shops. Restaurant at the hotel had limited space available and could not be booked due to repairs to be done.

Rooms/bathrooms were clean and updated. Only issue was our rooms were on the 2nd floor and there is not an elevator. The hotel staff did take our bags up to our rooms at check in and back down at check out.

We were in for a night, the two bed room was perfect for our needs. Very clean, though a bit dated care has been given to the location. Would definitely book again. View of the mountain and glacier were a bonus!

Only stayed a night here so that we could visit FRANZ JOSEF. Hotel style is not too modern and they don't have air conditioning in the room (but there is a fan and heater). Staff were friendly and nice so overall it is a good experience. Ample parking lots for hotel guest so that is good for drivers.

Nice location and lean
It is a nice motel type place in a beautiful location in the town itself. We stayed 1 night. Arrived late and left early. The asst manager on duty for check-in was very helpful. I would recommend this place for stay.

A fairly typical utility type tourist hotel that tailor to big tour group. That said, I think it needs more attention to details (like housekeeping informing maintenance of things not working properly eg leaky taps, bathroom light bulbs requiring change etc) as a lot of guests are one- nighter, and so have no incentive to inform hotels about such defects. The breakfast spread was decent and the dining hall large enough to cater for groups and individual guests. Location is excellent with easy access to all things essential for stay in Franz Josef

The buildings and rooms were old and the bathroom had a heated towel rail in the shower area which meant you had to point the shower rose down so it didn't spray onto the heated towel rail or more importantly the power point. Very UNSAFE.

Manager on duty made check in unnecessarily difficult and was vague and generally not helpful. Wait staff in restaurant were very friendly and although somewhat inexperienced, their effort was great. Hotel is very expensive for what is at most a 3 1/2 star hotel and not good value
