The cabin itself, Moonlight Shores Lakefront, is beautiful and well-located with an amazing view of the lake. We appreciated that Big Bear Cool Cabins allowed us to check in an hour early, which was a nice gesture. The cabin was equipped with a drip coffee maker, microwave, and refrigerator, which were convenient for our stay.
However, there were several significant issues that made our stay less enjoyable. The hot tub, which was one of the main reasons we chose this cabin, did not work for half of our stay. Not being able to use it was a huge disappointment and felt like money wasted, as I would not have paid for a cabin with a hot tub had I known it wouldn't be functional.
Another concern was the lack of air conditioning. While this wasn't entirely unexpected, it became a problem due to the fact that the sliding patio door didn't have a lock. We had to keep the windows closed whenever we left the cabin to secure our belongings, which made the cabin unbearably hot during the day. This significantly impacted our ability to enjoy our time there.
We were also promised a free fruit basket as part of our booking, but this was not provided. The website even mentioned the promotion during checkout, yet no basket was there when we arrived. Furthermore, there were no promotional codes on the website to allow us to apply at check out. We assumed it was just part of the package, since it was in the title. While we did receive an extended stay as compensation, it felt rather pointless given the other issues we encountered.
Lastly, the internet service was very poor. While we were there to enjoy the outdoors, it would have been nice to wind down at night with a movie. Unfortunately, the unreliable internet made streaming almost impossible.
Overall, while the location and the cabin itself have great potential, these issues left us feeling frustrated and disappointed. We expected more from our stay, especially given the cost and the expectations set by the amenities offered.
