I prefer non chain even though can be on scale from charming to quirky to avoid. For me, this fell in quirky range. Appreciate late night check in but then flights from lower 48 seem to mostly be arriving late night. Only needed to stay one night. Bed was comfortable for me. Asked for ground floor since traveling with heavy luggage. After 18 hours travel, 4 hour time difference, and arriving 130 am local time (530 am “my time”, it was confusing to be sent down the road to second property. Paper map provided was NOT to scale and a clearer map would have helped my travel fog brain (I make maps as secondary part of my job). For me, fine for an overnight only. Not the closest to airport. But mid May seems like perpetual twilight in Fairbanks with little traffic and well marked streets. GPS directions to main place were accurate.

7 Gables Inn is a quaint bed and breakfast , filled with old world charm and warm inviting atmosphere. I arrived quite late and was welcomed by one of the owners. Check-in was in a lovely kitchen, where I was offered home baked cookies. There is a waterfall feature in the foyer and I was fortunate enough to book the waterfall room. Vintage furniture , beautiful vintage decor and bedding all added so much comfort and enjoyment to my stay. The bed was extremely comfortable, the room was immaculately cleaned, and there was a desk, wifi. tv and even a dvd player. The bath was large with a jetted tub, so nice after a day of travel. Breakfast each morning was homemade by the lovely wife and included an inviting variety of things sure to please anyone’s taste. Breakfast is served family style in the upstairs kitchen, where the tables are set with lovely China and real silverware. I enjoyed hearing native Alaskans tell stories of their heritage and folklore while having coffee in the living room and continuing as we enjoyed a delicious breakfast. The home is open to wander and there are so many treasures to see, the greenhouse entrance to the Inn, the bookcases filled with interesting books and the cross-stitched names on each guest room. Oh and the incredible stained glass throughout. This place is not like a chain hotel, it is like staying at the home of a favorite relative. The price is also very affordable for the area!

Having stayed at 7 Gables many times, I can say it’s still my happy place! This time, only one night on my way to the airport, it allowed me to get a some rest and some more organizing of luggage finished before my long trip. Thanks again!

The property was a bit cluttered from the outside, however, the inside more than made up for any concerns I nay have had. My room which included a bathroom, was nice, clean and comfortable.

The breakfast was the best complimentary breakfast i've had in years and the room was dialed in with a jacuzzi tub and quality furniture. The staff were extremely friendly and always helped me no matter what timeof day. Thank you!

Bath tub was dirty, under the bed was digusting, tv didnt work and found a drug bag with white powder in it on top of microwave. Will never stay here again. Wish i could of been refunded.

Owners are not personable and made it very clear you need to stay in your room or walk straight through to the exit. There is no common area for the guest. Breakfast is served in a kitchen that is unlocked from 7 to 9 am Dont expect more than ceral, waffles, yogart, and eggs. Also if the other guests eat all of the scarcely supplied Breakfast you are just out of luck. ( Or you can ask the owners where the Breakfast is and be scolded as she makes you a waffle ). There is a microwave in the kitchen which can only be used during the time the kitchen is unlocked from 7 to 9 am. There is 1 more microwave that is located in the kitchen downstairs that they say you can use but when you attempt to you are told that is thier kitchen and you are not to be in there. Was completely uncomfortable at this property during our 2 day stay. I absolutely would not recommend this property to anyone due to how uncomfortable the owner's make you feel. Property was safe and clean, big tubs would be great if there was enough hot water to fill them.

Thank you for befriending the guest across the hall from you to view the lights. I apologize that we did not give you the tour we usually give guests when they arrive. The living room /lobby is for guest use, as well as the community kitchen for coffee and microwave. Daily there is a hot main egg dish for breakfast, as well as normal buffet items as yogurt, cereal, waffles, and homemade baked goods.

This is very comfortable lodging with a friendly Fairbanks vibe. There is a shared kitchen, lots of books, and interesting Alaska curios and art. Located in a quiet residential area and off the beaten path, you can still walk to a great coffee shop, to the UAF campus and museum, and are a short taxi ride from a major Fairbanks grocery store. The owners have invested in solar have a great atrium. I would love to see all they have growing in the summer.

Review of Seven Gables.
The owner was really nice but there was cigarette smoke coming from somewhere while she was checking me in. Then she checked in a drunk guy right after me so that was really weird. The room was nice and clean and smoke free and had a small refrigerator and a space heater to supplement the room heat and had a jacuzzi. The bed was average and the drunk guy was cursing and swearing until Midnight before the manager called the police and had him hauled off so that kept me awake a few more hours than planned.

The lady that helped us with the check in was the only person who was very friendly and always with a smile among the others. The room they provided us was ok, we tried to use the jacuzzi but there were a few body hairs that weren’t ours, so we discard the idea. But the rest was clean. The common areas are not well maintained and looks a bit messy. Breakfast was good and enough to keep you feed until evening. Really good quiches. As for the location, it is close to the airport but far from downtown and other places. I suggest renting a car since Uber takes more than 10 minutes to arrive all the time. (Fastest 10 - longest 20 min wait). And it is like that all around Fairbanks. Despite all that, the sounding areas are full of nature and is a very quiet and pleasant place.

This was the first place I’ve been to where I reserved and left after walking into the lobby. The front door was slightly open and vey dark. The place looked very shady and the lobby smelled unclean and unwelcoming. I would not recommend this place to anyone, even those who I loathe entirely hate.

I am sorry you didn't get a chance to see the penthouse you reserved. The entryway is lit with an indoor waterfall and it tends to be a little dark.

Heat sucked, dryers didnt work after paying over 10 bucks to even get them half way dry. Windows leak cold air bad, and wifi didnt work so had to buy movies to watch.

Stayed one night, it was great. No complaints. The location is a 20 minute walk from any stores, and the nearest McDonald’s is closed so a hibachi place is the only food I saw that you can walk to.

Save your money and book the cheaper room because you're not going to get the room you paid for. I checked into my room and first thing that stuck out was the smell. After sitting in it for a minute I realized the room I was given was exactly like the picture of a less expensive room. So I went back to the main building to ask and I got a grumpy old man that explained to me that the room I was given was in the "penthouse building" and if I went and booked a room with a king bed it cost money, a full kitchen that cost money and a jetted tub that ALSO cost money. I just agreed and walked out. All I was trying to say is that I paid for a more expensive and bigger room and you gave me a cheaper, smaller one. Back to the smell. I narrowed it down to the bathroom, it smells like something died in there and you tried to cover it up and failed. I kept the bathroom door closed with the light/fan on for the duration of my stay. I would never recommend this place to anyone, ever.

The first day we arrived there was no breakfast. there is no indication on the information about what time breakfast finishes and we arrived at 8:40. The owner told us he couldn’t get in contact with his wife, and in any case we were late. I wasn’t happy about that. They never gave us any information about what was going on or showed any interest in making sure things were OK. We requested a room to be cleaned and it never was. The only thing that happened was one day when they put the towels in and made the bed without changing the sheets or cleaning the floor or bathroom they had the audacity to put an envelope in requesting tips. When we did arrive in time for breakfast, I was a little bit concerned about the egg, quiches and savory’s that were put in each day because they were in a cold heating pan and I thought it was inviting salmonella. The kitchen was disgusting. Why did we stay? You ask yourself? Because it was just as easy to keep our room clean and use the wonderful airport family restaurant down the road for our breakfasts. Read the other bad reviews. All accurate

I do apologize about the missing bread for toast on the first day of your stay. Each day thereafter I made sure there was both bread and milk as you seemed to request. I don’t know if you ever tried any of the hot held egg dishes, but many of our repeat customers come back because they enjoy the variety om the breakfast buffet. I do regret that we did not see you the first evening due to your middle of the night arrival, as we usually provide information about what to do and see, places to eat, etc. It appeared that you were always quite busy, so we did not intrude or interrupt you. I am sorry that you felt we did not serve you well.

Would never stay again…would definitely NOT recommend to anyone! Dirty, sticky floors, dirty bed coverings, dirty lounge chair with arm loose, tub leaked and does not drain after taking shower, TV did not work at all. Very hard bed. Overall terrible
