Jay Cooke Park and Spirit Mtn Retreat with wood-burning sauna and game room

Enjoy this gorgeous 3 bedroom/2 bath home located on a beautiful setting on 3 wooded acres at the end of a dead-end road close to I-35. The home is located near many great activities, such as 3 miles from the Willard Munger State Trail, 4 miles from the Duluth Traverse bike trails, 3 miles from the Superior Hiking trail, 4 miles from Jay Cooke State Park, and 9 miles from Spirit Mountain. The home is also only a short 15-minute drive to the Craft District and Lake Superior.

This private home has a master suite on one side with a large master bathroom, complete with a tiled walk-in shower and a large closet. On the other side of the home, there are two bedrooms (one with two twin beds and one with a queen bed). There is a full bath located by these bedrooms and near the living room area. Enjoy the open living space with a gas fireplace, cozy leather furniture, and wood floors. There is a high-end kitchen with a fridge, dishwasher, microwave, oven/range, and coffee pot along with a dining space to relax and eat. Off of the living room/kitchen area is a beautiful sunroom where you can enjoy a good book, game night, or shut the door to get work done. The garage is a large game room with a pool table, ping pong table, foosball table, a 5000-game arcade machine, and a big-screen TV. Out back there is a patio with a grill and patio table to enjoy the large backyard. Newly added is a large wood-burning sauna with a changing room for you to kick back, relax, and unwind. There are two security cameras outside to protect the property and our guests. The home is warm and cozy and we hope you can make it feel like your own during your stay. (Side note: absolutely no parties or events allowed. All guests over 6 must get host approval during booking.)

Beautiful home with a nice open layout for gathering and spending time together, with a large kitchen table with plenty of room to comfortable eat and play games together.Lots of thoughtful touches made us feel right at home, like plenty of soft blankets, a basket of paperbacks, thick fluffy towels, a large game room, a gas fireplace to warm ourselves after a day of skiing, a spacious wood-burning sauna, laundry facilities, a very quiet dishwasher, a tea kettle for the stove, a coffee grinder, a full-length mirror in the master bath, shampoo/conditioner/body wash in the showers, a spacious mudroom, and noise proofing between the game room and the rest of the house. We were guests during Christmas, and the Christmas decorations and Christmas tree lights on an automatic timer were such a lovely surprise. What a fantastic find this home is! We can't wait to return.

Wonderful Retreat

We had a wonderful 3 night stay. The house was immaculate and well stocked. The location is private and very quiet. We especially loved the large kitchen and master bath. The game room was phenomenal and would be perfect for family/group gatherings of all ages. Mark and Jamie were great with communicating and the check-in/out was a breeze. Wonderful Home Base for Duluth Activities

The BEST Place to Stay!!!

This was by far one of the BEST VRBOs we’ve stayed at!! The house is nestled at the end of a quiet road, but has the feel of being set back in the woods. From the beautiful decor to the extreme cleanliness to all of the thoughtful touches in between, you will feel as though you are staying at a house straight from Pinterest! This house is located near Jay Cooke State Park, a must see, as well as, an hour and a half or so drive to Gooseberry Falls, Split Rock Lighthouse, Tettegouche State Park and Black Rock Beach. Lastly, check-in and check out was a breeze! You won’t regret staying here!

Beautiful home

This home is AMAZING! Beautifully decorated, clean, updated, and perfect for a family stay. The bonus game room was perfect for the teenagers and we all had plenty of space and bathrooms to be really comfortable. We didn't use the sauna but it was like a picture from a magazine! It was so cute and cozy. Would definitely stay again.

Perfect retreat

We had a great visit to Esko! We decided on this property for all the amenities it offered and it did not disappoint! We came up with family friends to watch the UMD basketball team play. We only left to watch games and to go to Pedro's Mexican restaurant which was a tip from the owners. We enjoyed our time relaxing and playing cards. The kids loved the game room. We definitely will book again!

We had a 15 hour drive into Esko and the minute we walked into the house, all of the stress from the drive instantly melted away. The house was beautiful, homey, safe, and so much fun. Mark and Jamie checked in on us to make sure things were going well, too, and that was incredibly kind. If we’re coming back to the area, we will for sure come back to this wonderful place!

Great location with a perfect home

Trip to Duluth area and a college tour. Location is close enough to downtown (~20 minutes), very close to Jay Cooke State park, 10 minutes to Cloquet for groceries, gas, etc.. The house is a great layout, very comfortable and simply set up well. Great communication with the owners. Will definitely stay again if we are in the area.
