Veldig sentralt beliggende - midt i smørøyet. Smale senger til å være dobbeltseng - men de var gode da. Fin frokost. Tepper på alle gulv, noe som gjorde at det ble litt dårlig luft inne på rommet.

Ok Hotel, Great location
Ok hotell with a great location. The room was ok, but the bed was too small for two people. Breakfast also ok, but the bacon was almost raw. I will probably choose another hotell for my next stay in Edinburgh.

Stay away from that hotel.
The hotel was really old, the room was tilting, the bed was old and shaky so I nearly fall out of it. The bathroom was leaking and the extremely small. There was no A/C and the window was old and thin - nearly falling out . The noise from the road was extreme and due to no A/C or proper windows sleeping was impossible. The breakfast was miserable , nearly nothing to choose from and what they had was no good. I cancelled my stay after two nights and moved to another hotel nearby for the last three nights.

Trenger oppussing
Første natt fikk vi et standard rom i 1. etg. som var veldig slitt. Det var hull i lampeskjermene, sprekk i badekaret (som var lappet) og veldig lytt. Både med tanke på skritt over oss og ut mot gaten. Vi snakket med en hyggelig dame neste dag, og fikk flytte til et rom i 5. etg. som så bedre ut, og var stillere. NB! Sengene er veldig små i standardrommene, og ikke så behagelige. Det positive med hotellet er beliggenheten. Hotellet er veldig sentralt. Det var festival i Edinburgh og veldig høye hotellpriser. Hotellet stod ikke i stil til prisen.

Greit nok for en natt eller to.
Hotellet ligger svært sentralt i Princess street, og tvers ovenfor togstasjonen og julemarkedet. Greit nok for en natt eller to, men det er slitt og rommene har svært ulik kvalitet. (Vi bestilte to junior dobbeltrom til samme pris, og de var ulike både på størrelse, slitasje og inventar).Rent, men litt harde senger på det ene rommet. Frokosten imneholder bare det aller nødvendigste, og ingen servering av kaffe/te ved bordene. Vi prøvde afternoon tea i restauranten. Maten var god, men betjeningen ganske fraværende. Liker du eldre sjarm i skjeve, knirkete skotsk-rutete teppegolv, er dette hotellet for deg. Hvis ikke, ligger det to hotell i samme prisklasse rett ovenfor og nedenfor i samme gate. Vi erfarer at disse har bedre standard og service enn dette.

The Old Waverley is the oldest hotel on Princes Street. It has been standing since 1848 (for 175 years). Because of this, it has a very unique feel and charm. Many of the rooms are differently sized and laid out in different configurations, with squeaky floorboards and crooked hallways. This is exactly the style that many people hope to find, when visiting a city as old and historical as Edinburgh. We can only apologise if this was not to your taste. We serve a cooked buffet and a continental style breakfast every morning, with a great range of fresh products on offer for our guests to choose from. With this buffet is served hot tea and coffee, as well as a range of fruit juices. We can only apologise if this was not made clear enough to you during your stay.We do hope to see you again.

Ok men uten heis
Hotellet er helt ok, men ingen heis opp til resepsjonen i første etasje - vanskelig med kofferter. Igjen ett par trinn fra resepsjonen til heisen - umulig for rullestolbrukere. Badet var iskaldt og gammelt, med dusjforheng over badekar, men det fantes toalettartikler. Rommet var litt trangt, men ok for meg som reiste alene.

Awesome find. We love historic hotels worldwide and this one ranks near the top. Oldest hotel in Edinburgh 1854, a 4 star the has many small but unique amenities not found in 5 star hotels. Spacious room, comfy bed, coffee and tea, cockies.I see reviews about noise. Shut the window and use the AC and remember, you picked the heart of the city and not a country Inn. A full Breakfast was a 6.5/10 OK, very nice dining room with large windows. Minutes to Royal mile and most everything else. If ever back to Edinburgh, this is our hotel.

Stayed there twice first had a room with no window to see out of or to open. Would not recommend this room Then had a room with a functioning window but view was a back alley I guess we could actually see what the weather was. Back alley was really noisy on the weekend

Very nice older hotel. Since it is older you do have to walk up stairs to get to the reception. There is a lift from there to the rooms. Our room view was great and we could see the Scott Monument and Edinburgh Castle from our room.

This hotel is in the perfect location. The staff is also super friendly and helpful. The downsides of staying are that it’s quite noisy and night, the wifi is terrible and rarely works( I needed to work and struggled to log in most of the time), and there is no elevator to the lobby, requiring a long trudge up. Also, there is zero parking in case you are driving. The breakfast was good. The bar is fabulous and the location is unmatched, just across from the train station and the Royal Mile.

I like the location, it's close to everything. The property is becoming run down and the facilities are not getting updated.

Dear Gordon,Thank you for taking the time to review us. We always value our guests’ feedback, as we are continually looking to improve the experiences we can provide. We understand that there are some areas of disrepair and damage throughout the property and we are continuously carrying out refurbishments. We are currently in the process of renovating all rooms and public areas of the hotel, and regret to hear that you did not experience one of these updated rooms. We do hope to see you again soon.
