"Breakfast was excellent with individually cooked meals. Also had dinner at the bistro twice and was quite satisfied with the positive service by the staff and simple but well-cooked meals. Daily cleaning was substandard for a spa hotel like the Monastry, and I basically had to ask for a change of towels and for the emptying of the trash bins. It was also a bit strange when leaving the hotel at 6:30 am, as the reception was not staffed (and it should have been). It would have been convenient to have someone order a taxi to the airport and let you out.
Then again, St. Johns is frontier territory, people are laid back and very polite to visitors, so I take the few nuisances as part of the pioneering spirit of the place. I would stay at the Monastery again."
