Once a thriving fishing village, Fisher Street was the heart of the local fishing industry, with cottages like this one housing fishermen and their families. In 1859, a Fitzroy Storm Barometer was sent to the community to help local fishermen predict the weather, and in 1881, the barometer’s readings helped save the Ferry fishing fleet from a disaster.
