Duluth Press Building History: 1915 W. Superior St. aka The Duluth Press Building was built by architects Radcliffe & Willoughby in the year 1894. Extant Missouri native Hugh Wetmore spent much of the 1880s working as a reporter for the St. Paul dispatch before moving to Superior in 1890 to write for the Superior Evening Telegram. The next year he established a newspaper in Duluth's west end called The Union Workman: The People Press. According to Duluth journalist Paul Lundgren the paper was the official organ of The Duluth Trades and Labor Assembly. The following year Wetmore began courting Helen Cody, sister of "Buffalo Bill" Cody. Hugh and Helen wed in July 1893, the same month Helen took over as the paper's business manager. That September the paper's name was changed to The Duluth Press. By then Buffalo Bill Cody owned half of the business and financed the construction of a building to house it along the upper 1900 block of west superior street. After the building opened in 1894 Helen hired her daughter Mary Jester as its city editor and organized the Zenith Press Club, consisting solely of women. The next year she advertised the publication as "The Women's Paper of the Great Northwest." The periodical didn't last long, they published their final issue on August 29, 1896. Since then the building has housed other publishing companies, apartments, and various other businesses.

Property was super clean, conveniently located close to downtown & the lake. OMC smokehouse bbq restaurant right next door is delicious as well! Building was quiet. No complaints. Would stay here again!
Loved our stay and the vibe of the neighborhood! We were minutes away from Canal Park, Glensheen and other attractions. The restaurants in Lincoln Park are phenomenal! Can't wait to return!
One of the best vacation rentals we've stayed in. Everything was exactly as described, clean and in great condition. Everything we needed, plus more, was provided for a comfortable stay. And the location is great with plenty to see and do. We stayed during the week and the evenings and nights were quiet. Will definitely stay at Duluth Press on our next visit to Duluth!
We booked this last minute and it was perfect! So clean I give it a 10 out of 10! Fully stocked with everything you could need away from home! Location great to walk and loved the parking spot in the back! Staff texted/called back in a great timely fashion! Will definitely book this the next time we return to Duluth!
Small but cozy and very functional one bedroom apartment. Nice kitchen with very nice appliances. Sitting area comfy. Bathroom well stocked with towels, shampoo, conditioner, body wash. Very clean. Directions for where to park very straight forward. Check in easy. Would definitely stay here again.
Our stay was wonderful, very relaxing, the unit was beautiful. The only negative, the person above our unit on Saturday morning starting walking around their unit at 7:00 wearing sounded like loud high heels gong back and forth for a hour, then sounded like they left. The other mornings very calm and peaceful.
The building and suite were so beautiful and so comfy! Didn't stay long enough to really use the kitchen, but it's well equipped. Really liked that the fridge had a water dispenser. Also appreciated the local goods and coupons they left for us. The location of this building is great!! Dovetail Cafe and OMC Smokehouse are literally right next door and both amazing. The Enger building is great for a little local shopping and you're barely 3 minutes away from downtown by car. Will definitely be recommending this to friends and family.
My wife and I wanted to get away from the cities for a couple of days with our kids (2 and 1 month old) and not have to break the bank since we were booking in the middle of the week. This is a great spot centered around a lot of restaurants, shops and brew pubs like Bent Paddle and Ursa Minor. Furthermore, its just a little over an hour to get to Gooseberry Falls and Split Rock Lighthouse. The place was nicely designed and clean. A little cozy, but thats alright since we knew what we were getting for this price range. The unit was on the 2nd floor and you can hear the people above you walk around at night, but its not too bad. My wife and I said we would stay here again if it were the two of us.
I had a phenomenal experience staying at this property. It's located right next to a darling coffee shop, was quiet, and was pet friendly - which made it an easy "yes" for me! Loved the small, artsy touches in this unit. I'll be back!
