Our travel plans were ruined and this hotel is the only one I will stay at in Des Moines but the suite with balcony that I always have was full for the weekend. The front desk employee made some changes and was able to give us a river view room. She went above and beyond when we had a very rough day at the airport. The location is PERFECT for the farmers market on Saturday morning, I cant wait for my next visit!

I always stay at this property when I am in Des Moines. I was disappointed as the key card system was down (not the hotel's fault), but this meat I was taken and let into my room and could not leave as I never had a key. I was travelling with a student and it made them feel awkward that were "stuck" in their room unless they left and left their door wide open.

Perfect location! Checking in was so easy and pleasant. Our beautiful room and view overlooking courtyard and the river was wonderful. Later, we asked another desk clerk about ordering pizza. He, too, couldnt have been nicer or more professional. We highly recommend this hotel!!

Breakfast was absolutely terrible! Our rom which the employee told us was the best room in the hotel was on the 6th floor, the patio door wouldn’t lock so we were left with no sleep due to our children in the room and making sure they didn’t wonder out there. We called the front desk to get the lock fixed and nobody ever showed up. The dust cobwebs around the room were everywhere and the bed and pillows were so flat and uncomfortable. I reached out to see what Dan be done and of course still no response! Other’s rooms were so humid water was literally dripping down the walls. We didn’t dare go in the pool the water was so cloudy it undoubtedly needed treated. There wasn’t a single smell of chlorine anywhere near that pool like one would expect for a public pool.

I would stay again.
The stay was nice. We had to pay to park in the garage that’s attached to the hotel. The rate wasn’t too bad. My wife and I are disabled the room we pick was ADA room. The room was very clean and nice. The bathroom is not ADA compliant. The toilet is too low and very hard to get up from. The shower chair is attached to the wall. It didn’t look safe. The hot tub in the swimming pool area was a disaster. Missing tiles, dirty and too much chlorine. Burned my eyes. The breakfast was the real treat. I loved my experience with the breakfast. I just wish they stayed open longer. We barely was able to get our food as the staff was closing. We wasn’t upset it. The staff was very nice. The overnight staff guy was really friendly and helpful.

Expensive and somewhat disappointing
Rooms were clean. Breakfast was average. Hotel staff was friendly. But I feel like the price was way out of line. Plus 15 dollars a day to use their parking ramp. Kidsvpeed in the pool so the only amenities we came for weren’t available to us as they closed the pool. Two night stay with parking was almost 600 dollars to not get to relax in the hot tub. Not worth that price point

There was a weird lingering smell in the hallways which seemed to follow into the actual hotel room. Makes me question the cleanliness of the entire room. On the plus side, the hotel was quiet and the staff was great. This location is also within walking distance to tons of restaurants and bars.

Hotel was near the event. However, there was no shuttle service. Additionally, the pool and hot tub were closed for repair.

Booked for the pool/hot tub and could not use
We were attending an event downtown Des Moines and even though we live about 40 minutes away, we decided it might be fun to have a night at a hotel, so we could go swimming and use the hot tub. After we checked in, we were told the pool and hot tub were not functioning. The whole point of us paying for a hotel, was to use the pool. They stated we could walk about a block away to use the pool of another hotel. It was about 35 degrees outside. The idea of walking in my flip flops and a swimsuit to use the pool of a different hotel, in the cold and all the way back with a wet swimsuit, did not sound appealing. Then we thought, ok…we will watch some TV to kill time before the event and then the TV was not working and we had to contact maintenance. They were on top of getting that taken care of, but annoying none the less. This is not the first time we have stayed at a Hampton, only to have no access to the pool and hot tub. I feel if hotels know that the pool and hot tub are not available for use, they need to contact the hotel guests, ahead of check-in, to let them know and give guests the option of canceling the reservation, finding a new hotel or have the hotel offer a discount for lack of advertised amenities. Because I booked my stay through Hotels versus the hotel directly, the hotel did not provide any resolution and were dismissive of our concerns, with an “oh well, too bad for you” attitude and a statement of “we will tell our manager.” I have not heard from the manger.

Staff was very helpful and friendly. Room was clean. Tv only had 2 channels that worked and the reason we picked your hotel was to allow our grandsons to swim. Pool was out of order. Told to walk (outside in 25 temp) to neighboring hotel to use their pool. We did. Their pool was freezing. Water temp was below 60. Then had to walk back to our hotel in wet suits. 😒

When we arrived the key makers were down. The workers were real nice and you could hear they were on speaker phone trying to get some help. We checked in and the maid let us in. We were in our room for a bit and someone tried to get in. It was a maid, but it was still a little alarming. We were able to get keys before we left for dinner and concert. When we got back though, the keys would not let us and others back into the hotel. We were able to get in. We tried to use a Hilton gift card to buy some drinks at their concession. They said they do not take the gift card even though they are owned by Hilton. In the morning, the shower was in rough shape and had not been cleaned out. I assume that may have been why maid was trying to get back in previous day maybe. Hotel has potential to be nice, but we had a great trip but will definitely stay somewhere else next time we have an event at Wells Fargo.

A great place to sleep, quiet and comfortable. Convenient to our activities downtown, and easy to check in. Breakfast was early and good. Our only complaint would be a minor one, the front desk staff did her job, but had no people skills. It was awkward, but everything else was fantastic, so not a huge deal.
