We were immediately impressed with the care and responsiveness by our host. The owner is in Lima and was in constant contact with us. The onsite host was also available via WhatApp with a reasonable delay in communication. We could not ask for more caring and kind hospitality. They were truly wonderful, regularly reaching out to see id there was something they could provide us with.
It’s important to note that Spanish is the primary language and communication occurs via WhatApp or Google Translate which can be difficult at times.
Additionally, the apartment does not have heating or cooling. Blankets are comfortable and plentiful but we had to ask for a portable heater to be made available. Make sure that you do this in advance as it takes about 24 hours to provide a heating unit.
This was our first visit to Cusco and the distance from the city center was a little further than we had expected. The surrounding area is “local” and we would have preferred something closer to the center but that was my mistake in making the booking. Just be aware of this when you book.
The apartment was clean and spacious when we entered but did lack the “curb appeal” when we entered. The initial entry is spartan but the apartment itself was well furnished and sparkling clean.
We were a bit disappointed in some of the “essentials” like coffee or sugar or a couple bottles of water on arrival. Those can be overlooked but if we were to ask, we believe that they would have been provided.
