Canucks in love with Costa Rica
The property and surroundings/atmosphere was amazing, thank goodness for the pool and having AC for sleeping. The kitchen was well equipped, easy to find everything and everything was there. The home beautifully appointed and had a wonderful Costa Rican character and made it easy to feel the Pura Vida vibe!!!!

We expected it to be a little cooler out. It was disappointing to hear we needed to conserve air conditioning when it was soooo hot (to us). We did enjoy the pool, very much, however, and the property was so beautiful!

Well Jack you came in the hottest month of the year , and its an El Nino year which i guess made it a little hotter , As far as the AC is concerned i dont think my managers may told you not to use the AC when your not home or in in the bedrooms . Just trying to be environmentally friendly . The rooms cool off in 15 minutes . Hope you enjoyed your time in Costa Rica and our home .

House of Dreams
This property is beyond beautiful! Pictures do not do it justice. The moment we arrived we were greeted by the most beautiful sunset coming in over the pool. The home is open and airy and very well appointed. We had everything we needed. Sam and Philippe answered all our questions and gave us great advice on dining. and beaches to visit. It was a relaxing, peaceful vacation and we didn’t want to leave Los Suenos!

Spectacular
This property is stunning. The indoor to outdoor set up is so well designed, comfortable and functional. The pool was fantastic and we enjoyed looking up at the trees above waiting on monkeys to come and visit (unfortunately only 1 came but we heard them everyday). The sunsets were amazing every night!!! At night the outdoor lighting created a beautiful ambiance showcasing the surrounding trees and reflection in the pool. If you are ok with being a little remote and enjoy privacy and being surrounded by the beauty of Costa Rica nature we would highly recommend this property.

An Unforgettable Stay in Guanacaste
My wife and I spent a wonderful week at Sam and Mary's home. It is located in the hills overlooking the Pacific Ocean and lies between San Juanillo and Ostional. The Sounds: The roaring surf of the Pacific, the howl of monkeys, the songs of parrots The Sights: The vast Pacific, dry forest everywhere you look, splashes of orange and red sunsets The Wildlife: howler monkeys right in front of you, coati, iguana, giant frogs, and many, many birds-from hummingbird to parrot to seabirds The architecture: intricate stonework, rooftop finials, gorgeous metalwork doors and gates The property: a wonderful infinity pool, tropical plants, privacy galore The basics: strong cell service, fast internet, nearly floor-to-ceiling glass for great forest and Pacific views The bottom line: We loved this tropical paradise and have many beautiful memories. Highly recommend

Great Getaway Close to the Coast
We really enjoyed our 4 night stay in this amazing home! We loved to just sit and birdwatch, listen to the howler monkeys at sunrise and relax in the pool after a busy day out. We enjoyed relaxing in the mornings, getting out for beach time and exploring and beach-side drinks and lunch in the afternoons, and coming back to chill in the evenings. You can hear the waves crashing from the beach in the distance. In San Juanillo, swimming at Playa Coco (it's amazing, why is no one there?) and getting drinks at the Tiki Hut was awesome. In Nosara, we loved Playa Guillones and drinks and lunch at Olga's (great pina coladas). Some reviews here say a 4x4 is needed but I don't think it's necessary. The only sketchy area is a small creek crossing heading into Nosara but getting to the house is not an issue. That said, you can rent a 4x4 crossover for about $225 base rate thru Kayak for peace of mind.

Beautiful home & location with everything you need
We had a wonderful stay at Sam and Mary's home in Ostional. The house was beautiful and the floor plan really makes it feel like there is no separation between you and nature. There was nothing better than a dip in the pool after a morning of exploring. The house had everything we needed, and the caretakers were very helpful and responsive when we had questions. We saw a variety of birds, an iguana, and a coatimundi in the yard, and heard howler monkeys every day. We would love to stay there again!

Pure luxury and comfort
What a joy it was to wake up every day to this incredible home! The comfort and beauty of everything was amazing. The view, the sounds, the outdoor living area, the pool, the comfortable beds, the A/C in the bedrooms... I can't remember the last time I relaxed so fully. The owners were very responsive and the house managers were lovely (they met us at the house even though we arrived after dark to show us around which was so very helpful). The home is equipped with everything you need. The drive into the surrounding towns is an adventure and everyone was so kind. Beaches, supermarket, waterfall tour, zipline, restaurants... everything you need within a 25- to 30-minute drive. We came with our two teenage/young adult daughters and we all had the trip of a lifetime. Thank you to Sam and Mary for sharing your beautiful home and to Philippe and Zuleikka for your kind and generous welcome.

Absolutely stunning property
Sam and Mary’s place was hands down the most beautiful vacation rental we have stayed at. Beyond the aesthetics it was also very functional and well equipped. We spent every afternoon inside and beside the gorgeous infinity pool as a family. In the mornings we explored the nearby coastline which has some beautiful and quiet beaches. We were lucky to catch a small turtle Arribada in Ostinal on our last evening and went on a guided walk to view the turtles nesting. Guides are required and you can search for their facebook page for the local guides association that posts on when tours are happening. The hosts and property manager (who is just a few mins away) were very responsive and helpful throughout our stay. Also a callout for the excellent Wifi there despite the remote location. My husband had to take a couple of work Zoom calls and our kids streamed some videos, and those went without a glitch. We would love to return for another stay!

Very Nice Place To Stay
Sam and Mary were very open to communication and answering questions. Phillipe who also helps manage the property was very helpful. Pool was amazing and we saw Howler Monkeys and an Iguana couple on the last day of our stay. I was super thankful for the room AC. Just make sure you get a 4 wheel drive and understand you are roughly 35 - 40 minutes from town even though it is 6 miles. The house was relaxing, tranquil, and very clean.

It only takes us less then 20 minutes to get where we usually go in Nosara . It might be time for the municipality to scrape the dirt road parts again . Your welcome back anytime

Absolutely beautiful home.
Home was absolutely gorgeous inside and out. The sounds from the trees, bushes and foliage were fantastic and sometimes scary. The worse part was the road to the home. If you are planning to have a vacation without a lot of exploring, this is the place. However, very nice restaurants in Nosara and San Juanillo . Or pick up food at the stores coming in, cook or grill, relax and enjoy

Heaven on Earth
Sam and Mary's house is a paradise. The home, pool and views are splendid and neither words nor pictures tell the story as much as being there. We had days where we simply would not leave the house.The howler monkeys say good morning daily and the stunning sunsets say goodnight. Sam was always available and happy to provide information. Pictures do not so justice
Pictures really do not do justice to this gorgeous property. It is beautifully decorated, surrounded by lush vegetation with amazing views and sunsets. The infinity pool is a special treat. The kitchen is well-equipped and an outdoor grill makes stay-home meals easy. For those who plan to visit Nosara often, keep in mind that the road between the property and Nosara is in a really poor condition, so a 12 km ride takes about 30 minutes and you definitely want to have a spare tire. The road in the other direction, towards San Juanillo is better and that’s where we found our favorite beaches.

Nicest place I have ever stayed!!!
Wow, this was a dream vacation! Sam and Mary made it easy to plan and easy to get there. I picked the place but even the awesome photos did not capture how magical this home is! We loved every minute. Watching the sunset from the pool with the chorus of animals in the forest was an experience I’ll never forget! Thank you Sam and Mary!!!

Stylish Home in Idyllic Setting
We have stayed at number of homes in Costa Rica, and we found this home to be the most beautiful. Although the roads make it somewhat difficult to get to, it was well worth the trip. Every aspect of the design of the home was obviously carefully considered when it was built. The pool area, including the lighting and the landscaping, was stunning. We spent each morning and evening watching the beauty of the natural surroundings in the comfort of this lovely home. The interior of the home itself blends seamlessly with the jungle that surrounds it. If you want a place to completely relax, this is it.

Magical, Amazing but most of all Spectacular!
Our stay was perfect. The house is better than in photos. You can not imagine until you experience it. You listen to Holler Monkeys all morning. Sunrise is beautiful. Even though we had rain it was still perfect. The pleasure of showering outside is one of my favorites. You will understand once you do it. Sam was so very helpful in our planning stages. He has so much info to share with you. You do need a vehicle to get to this location. A 4x4 would be best because you have a rough incline to the house. But so worth it. You are only about 15 min from restaurants/Sodas in San Juanillo and about 30 minutes into Nosara & Gionnes. Believe when I say it is just a wonderful experience. I hope someday to return. Thank you Sam & Mary.

Don't miss out on this property
Incredible stay at this beautiful property. Everything was perfect and completely relaxing, the house was well stocked which made cooking meals in most nights very easy and enjoyable. Completely quiet except for the sounds of nature and we even had the monkeys join us a couple times around the house. We will be returning in the future because we certainly didn't want to leave.

Jungle Paradise
My husband and I were smitten by the charm of this rustic, romantic jungle escape. From the monkeys in the trees to the breathtaking sunsets, this house definitely offers the experience of indoor/outdoor living. Just a 20 min drive to Nosara - for activities such as horseback riding and zip lining. A 4x4 is necessary in order to drive to the house and the areas around. Once you have the GPS coordinates to the house - it is easy to get to. Phillipe, the property manager was so accessible and helped with any questions we had. This vacation was a real escape from the urban jungle of Toronto.

Amazing Rainforest House.... Critters Included (snake)
First and foremost, this house was amazing. Owners were very responsive as were the property managers. Images of the home do no justice. The house is SOOO much more beautiful than the pictures provided. Because the home is in a rainforest, you do (and should) expect critters... monkeys, birds, geckos, even the occasional snake, which we incurred. If I were to rent this property again, snakes would be my only concern as my partner has a phobia of snakes. The home includes gorgeous glass walls with sliding doors. As beautiful as they are, the sliding doors provide easy access to the home because there is about half an inch of space between the sliding doors and the glass walls. If you have a phobia of snakes, you should be aware that the structure of the glass and sliding doors allows for easy access to the interior of the home. Other than this, the home is AMAZING.

Total relaxation and great getaway in Costa Rica
My husband, son and I had a fantastic 11-day stay at Sam and Mary's house in a biological reserve outside of Nosara. We were looking to be a bit out of the fray and we got the experience we were looking for. The gravel roads are easy to navigate and the beach isn't too far awa,y yet you will feel like you are a world removed from the busier area of Nosara. We loved listening to the bugs, birds and monkeys, and while the monkeys never visited the property we could hear them every day -- they did finally make an appearance next door on the morning we had to leave,. We did a lot of exploring and a lot of relaxing at the house as well. The infinity pool was very refreshing and we spent a lot of time in it.

Joyful
We absolutely LOVED this rental. Our own oasis within an oasis. We really enjoyed the location, but you do need to prepare for a 20-30 min ride to Nosara which was always a pleasurable drive along the coast...letting cows/horses cross the road. We spent our evenings in San Juanillo (5 mins from house) to enjoy the stunning sunsets and local soccer/football game, while enjoying a refreshing beverage. I 100% recommend this location, just be prepared to be gone for the morning and return for siesta. Additionally our host was wonderful. Very responsive and the house managers were very hospitable and available to answer questions over the course of the stay. I miss this place already!

Family Week in Costa Rica
Our family had an absolutely delightful time at this home. Though this property is most likely used for an adult vacation home, our 2 energetic boys really embraced the pool & wildlife/insects at this home (our 4-year old learned how to swim on this vacation!), as well as the culture, food and locals of the Guanacaste region. We loved showing our children the small sodas, where we could communicate with the locals & enjoy some authentic local cuisine. Our boys LOVED the gallo pinto & even got to play soccer with their new friend, little 5-year old Francisco from San Juanillo. (We frequented the Brisa del Mar soda). The directions to the home were very helpful & it was nice to have some staple ingredients in the kitchen for our breakfasts. Philippe and Zuleikka were there when we needed them &were so polite & helpful. Our 7 year old LOVED zip lining with Miss Sky, and both boys wanted me to denote that the temperature of the pool was perfect. We absolutely embraced disconnecting from the busyness of our school & work lives to really spend quality time together relaxing & making memories. Thank you so very much Sam & Mary in sharing your lovely home with our family. We truly appreciate it.

Beautiful home!!! The property was exactly as pictured!! You will not be disappointed.
Sam and Mary made this a worry free rental right down to the turn by turn driving directions to get to the home. The home is beautiful and exactly as pictured in the listing. Every amenity is available right down to the spices for cooking!! As the home is nestled in a national park it is beautifully quiet and peaceful. If you want off the grid with peace and quiet this is the place!! There is a 13 minute drive to a quiet beach San Juanillo, or other larger ones if you want to drive further. 4X4 is mandatory!! Roads are very rough I made the mistake of not getting a bigger 4X4 so make sure you upgrade from the base model. I would definitely return. Thanks to Philippe and Zuleikka for all their assistance!! Architectural Gem in Costa Rica
This place is beautiful. The description on the VRBO website is completely accurate. Beautifully furnished with all needed kitchen equipment. Very comfortable.The setting overlooking the ocean in the distance is peaceful and gorgeous. Eating and drinks on the terrace early in the morning and in the (relative) cool of the evening was a joy. The piece de resistance was the infinity lap swimming pool which we used every morning. Philippe and Zuleikka were always very helpful especially so when we arrived after dark and needed an escort to find the house.

The house and views to the sea are breathtakingly beautiful. The house exceeded our expectations!
This is the kind of house you see in lifestyle magazines about beautiful houses or tv programmes like ‘the world’s most extraordinary homes’. Every little detail in the house is cared for with love. The wood carved doors are beautiful. and exotic. The house is very well maintained and clean. The house is immersed in nature, with views of the ocean. We will never forger the visit of a family of howler monkeys; they played and rested in the trees by the pool. It was like watching a National Geographic documentary. We loved Swimming in the pool in the mornings. It was a privilege to have stayed a couple of days in this beautiful house.

Private Romantic Serene Sanctuary
This is our eighth trip to Costa Rica and this is by far the most architecturally stunning home we have stayed at. The outstanding workmanship of the house--from the hand carved gate and front door, stone work throughout, copper basins, reflective infinity pool --are just beautiful. Sweet Yorjani greeted us upon arrival to show us all the amenities of this pristine property. And Sam's communication pre trip, to landing at the airport, to check in and departure was top notch! We loved being in the heart of the jungle, with all the serene sounds of Costa Rica nature. Get up early and let any stresses melt away as you witness birds & animals pool side, while looking down on the valley in all its splendor. At sunset, view the gigantic sun drop into the ocean while hanging on to the edge of the infinity pool as the sky melts into magnificent oranges, yellows and pinks. We thought it would be sweltering in April but the house description is on point. We never needed the A/C. We would open the floor to ceiling sliding glass walls and front door and let those beautiful breezes flow through. The location, to us, was perfect. Playa Guiones is getting a little too busy and the location of this property is ideal. The Real Costa Rica-- bumpy dirt roads across the Guanacaste countryside filled with ocean views, cattle, horses and of course the smiling faces of the beautiful Costa Rican people make it all part of the journey. If you're looking for nightlife look elsewhere. If you want to get away to a romantic paradise in a sleepy dirt road town then book this property. Came home to snow in April (Maine) and already dreaming of our return visit! It is such a romantic, peaceful spot. Truly thankful for Sam & Mary sharing their slice of paradise.

A month of paradise in the jungle
Stunning home and setting! Walking through the courtyard and front door to the view of the pool and private jungle setting takes your breath away. We spent most of our days in the wonderful pool, but the home is furnished beautifully and comfortably. The kitchen was very well equipped, lacking in nothing...and even had instant hot water! We had wanted to experience the rainy season in Costa Rica and we did! A surprise during our month stay was that generally the rain kept to early and late evening so we had sunny/cloudy warm/hot days. As we were advised, bring your bug and mosquito spray......especially this time of year! Another suggestion for those that mosquitos love....bring a light cotton long sleeve shirt to protect yourself. Beautiful fragrant tropical flowers, coatis, frogs and monkeys can be enjoyed all around. On our last day we were treated to a three hour visit from 12 monkeys, including a tiny baby. They ate, played in all the trees around the pool and took naps before heading out for the evening! Yorjani and Maureen who care for the home and pool are so helpful, sweet and interesting. We love them! Some restaurants we intended to visit were closed but we loved Ancient People (as well as the owners), La Luna, Al Chile and for a delicious meal and incredible sunset view go to Lagarta Lodge Hotel. We visited the many beaches and took “bumpy” challenging drives to see the countryside and how the Ticos live. Thank you Sam and Mary!

Relaxing Oasis in Costa Rica
We truly enjoyed our stay at the house. During the day with all the doors opened up to the pool, the breezes and fans in the house made it very comfortable -- not to mention our frequent dips in the pool which was amazing. The infinity pool is beautiful and the perfect temperature. The kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed and the master bed was comfortable. At night, we had a few creatures come in the house, such as a couple dragon flies and a frog. The frog was a surprise because I heard it in the middle of the night and did not know what it was. It was so loud, I thought it could be a bird. But when we got up to inspect, it was just a frog. So we helped it back outdoors. Also, Yorjani was great. My husband left the headlights on in our rental car on the last night. We are so used to automatic lights in the U.S., that he simply forgot to turn them off. Well on the final morning when we were getting ready to head to the airport, the battery was dead. Yorjani came right over with his battery jumper and saved us!!! Whew!! And we made it to our flight on time. My one disappointment was that we did not see more wildlife from the patio/pool area. We could hear howler monkeys in the distance, but never saw them at the house. Overall, we loved our stay at the house and would definitely go back.

Beautiful home and peaceful environment. Lovely to be a part of nature. Delightful.
The property is beautiful and well maintained. All of the necessary amenities are provided. Very comfortable and a desirable location to rest and get away from it all. No need to look any further. Beautiful architecture and pool. A car is definitely needed as it is not close to a town or beaches or restaurants. On the other hand why leave such a paradise. Be prepared for bugs and possible small critters visiting you. The house is set amidst beautiful vegetation and nature as it is part of a nature reserve. The humans and animals cohabite together in this little paradise. We had a wonderful time. Thanks. Charles

Magnificent Place for Relax and Enjoy the beautiful beaches around
This is a great villa for a family of 4, it is very well equipped and it is very close to San Juanillo Beach, the pics does not the describe what you get, once you are there you will be surprised! It looks much better in live than in pics, everything worked well and the people in charged where very friendly, I really recommend this house for a quite relaxing vacation

A restful oasis with magnificent views, a serene infinity pool and elegant rock walls for privacy
The unique home is nestled in a Nature reserve. Howler monkeys, armadillos and coatis are neighbors. High stonewalls provide privacy and a lovely backdrop for the landscaped garden. Floor to ceiling windows provide magnificent views of the coast and forest.

A beautiful getaway!
We are 100% satisfied with our stay in this home. The house was perfect and we found great beaches and activities to fill our time. We enjoyed the view of the ocean, the pool, the wildlife and the star-filled night sky. This was our first experience with VBRO and it was great. Also, Sam was very helpful with answers to all our questions.

Beautiful
When you step into this house, you feel like you are in Bali! Bathed in mahogany, teak and stone, in the middle of Finca Los Suenos, with views of the ocean, it is absolutely stunning. Serene, calm, peaceful. All the modern creature comforts (including a few little creatures...geckos, iguanas, monkeys and birds!). We loved it!

Stunning
We stayed at Sam and Mary's home for 10 days and had the perfect vacation. The house is fantastic! Better than what we all expected from the pictures. You are truly one with nature with the sliding doors that open to a lovely infinity pool with breathing taking views and sounds of the jungle and ocean. The kitchen is well equipped and had everything we needed. And Sam is the perfect host. We ran out of propane one night and Sam had the tank replaced first thing the next morning. We all loved Costa Rica so much, and Sam's and Mary's home made our adventure to Costa Rica complete. Thanks!

Home is beautiful and comfortable!
This home is in a jungle reserve and all you hear is nature--birds, howler monkeys, etc. The ocean and jungle views are peaceful and we enjoyed hearing and seeing the lovely views from the large pool and living area. The home is very comfortable with all necessities and more! The decor and layout is very beautiful and is well maintained. We enjoyed our surroundings while on the property. Jorjani (one of the caretakers) was fantastic--very accommodating and helpful during our stay. We grilled fresh fish from San Juanillo and enjoyed fresh ceviche from Playa Guinones too! The only negative (which is not under the owner's control) was the 45 mins of bumpy dirt roads to get to the home (after a paved road from Liberia airport) and to Playa Guionoes/Nosara. The nearby road conditions were so bad that it nearly ripped off the bumper of our rental car! The locals are well aware of the road conditions but i have lower back issues. The home itself is amazing and very relaxing! The photos accurately depict the home but its even better in person! We did walk to Hotel Luna Azul for dinner which was outstanding! Rolf was an excellent host! Thank you Sam for sharing your piece of paradise!

Amazing Property and Stay!
If you think this property looks amazing in the pictures, just wait until you see it in person! We've rented a lot of vacation properties in Costa Rica as this is an annual destination for us, and this is definitely a favorite. We enjoyed swimming in the pool first thing every morning, and watching the wildlife play around in the jungle around the property. Just from the pool we saw monkeys, coatis, many types of birds, lizards and even a western spotted skunk (cutest thing ever). After a dip first thing, it was wonderful to prepare breakfast in the lovely kitchen and then enjoy a meal poolside. The entire setup of the house is bright and open; truly a dream. Not only is the home beautiful and relaxing, but the owners and local managers were extremely helpful and accommodating. This was our first time in the Nosara area, and we found their recommendations to be invaluable. In particular, we loved our meal at the hotel right down the street, and also loved the experience and education we got visiting the Nosara Refuge for Wildlife. There is so much to do in this area, and we feel like we only hit the tip of the ice berg. We will definitely be back, and would choose to stay at this property again in a heartbeat.

Amazing home in paradise
We can't recommend this home enough to someone who is looking for paradise in Costa Rica. The home and pool with its surroundings in nature were breath taking. My husband and I were looking for a romantic getaway but close enough to have adventures and restaurants near by and we absolutely found it. The owners have been amazing helping us with all we needed to know about the home and Costa Rica. All we can say is WOW and thank you Sam and Mary for letting us enjoy your beautiful home we truly rate this home an A+

Spectacular home in a beautiful setting
This is a truly incredible home. My wife and I stayed here for a week to celebrate our respective 40th birthdays. The setting is beautiful with views of the forest and, in the distance, the ocean. Sam and Mary have obviously put a ton of work into the details of the house, and it is truly impressive. The pool is fantastic, and my wife and I went for a morning swims every day and then ate our breakfast poolside. The master bedroom has sliding doors and screens that allow you to feel like you are part of the forest while resting comfortably inside a beautiful, luxurious room. The only thing to note for the uninitiated, is that the roads to San Juanillo and Nosara are dirt roads and require a four-wheel-drive vehicle. The drive into Nosara is about 20 minutes from the house and crosses two rivers. I would also say, that if it is your first time driving in Costa Rica, you should make the trip to the house during the day as the rules of the road are somewhat looser than in the U.S. Also, The house is tucked away, which is fantastic, but would make it it somewhat tricky to find for the first time in the dark. Overall, we had an absolutely wonderful time, and we hope to return to this astonishingly beautiful house again.

The state of the road is actually pretty good these days and if it was paved it probably would encourage the kind of development the would ruin the serenity of this area , thats the trade off . My wife and I had the pleasure of spending 4 weeks at this wonderful Villa in February 2016. The property was just as advertised and there were no surprises. The owner was efficient and very pleasant to deal with and offered excellent advice on features in the area. The home was well kept and very modern with accommodating local agents always available if we had questions or issues. The pool and view were among the best we have ever had the pleasure to enjoy. The area abounds with birds and wildlife and we saw parrots and monkeys frequently. The roads in the area are as you would expect for rural Costa Rica - terrible. They drag them periodically but they never stay smooth for long. Groceries and many restaurants are only 20 minutes away and driving back at night after dinner there is very little traffic to worry about (or even in the daytime for that matter). Everyone drives carefully and it's certainly not unsafe, just dusty and bumpy. Overall, we give the property five stars and plan on returning in the very near future. Barb and Al from Canada.
